Aurora had never seen this kind of reaction coming from him. Was he not the one lecturing her about being calm in time of problems and think of a solution? She lifted his fingers from her wrist.
She then raised her hands and cupped his cheeks. Now it was her turn to comfort an assure him.
"Tell me. Who are you talking about?" Aurora asked.
" Your guards are dead as we speak. We must leave," Alaric said and he did not hesitate again.
He scooped her as if she was a feather and used a lightning speed technique to leave the academy. He took a glance at the gate and saw the guard was not there. This just pressured him to get her out of there as fast as possible.
Aurora at first thought he was joking but when she heard that he knew she had guards watching over her, she realized the complexity of the situation. Also, when they reached the gate, it was wide open.
The guard at the gate was not there. The headmaster had left the city immediately the prize giving ceremony had ended. Many powerful figure had left the city. This was because the emperor usually called for them to attend an annual banquet.
So, to attack her, this was the perfect opportunity. If he knew that she was in danger, why was he trying to get himself involved after keeping Rey out of it. How did he know that she was in danger.
Now that she thought of it, it was like he was expecting something like that to happen. Had he not promised to kill Rey if he let her out of his sight. That could also mean that he knew that Tracy was also after his life.
Yet... He had followed her... Despite the fact he knew that she was planning to exterminate him. She had to stop him. She could not dare drag him into her past. He still had a long way ahead of him. He was the future Immortal King.
"Alaric, put me down. I will be okay," she said after seeing that he had stopped in the alleyways of the city. She had caught a glimpse of a masked figure.
"What do you mean?" He asked.
"This is my problem alone. It might be foolish of me to ask you to leave but its for your own future. They will probably not kill me because they may want to use me as leverage. They will not think twice about getting rid of you when they find us," Aurora said.
" Well, that is very thoughtful of you but protecting you has always been my mission. I know you probably think you can use one of those long distance alarms to warn your father.
"But that is very poor of you as someone who has been studying arrays and has not even realized that there is an array around the city. No communication can go outside the city and any disruption in the city will not cross the barrier.
"This means that no matter what damage happens, the city will appear normal from the outside. The only saving grace is that one can leave. But that is also a trap. Leaving will alert the enemy where we exited the city from.
" The utmost requirment is for you to not get out of my sight. Maybe after we successfully leave the city, you can trigger the alarm and inform your father," Alaric said and flashed fifty meters away.
As they hid behind a building, Aurora saw a guy check the position they had been standing. She could not help but wonder how he had known that someone was coming their way.
He flashed from time to time and everytime, someone would appear where they had been standing. She also realized that she could not hear his footsteps or his breathing. Even his heartbeat seemed nonexistent.
Were those skills he was using? If yes, she really would like to learn them. Especially that of sensing someone within a given range. He always appeared to know exactly where they were going and they had not encountered anyone.
She could tell that from the manner he was moving, he was heading towards the gates. He broke into one house and hid at a corner. A person opened the door and looked around the room.
The person seemed to be passing right next to them but did not notice them. She was shocked beyond belief that he had created a concealment array around them even without her realizing it.
She raised her head and gave him a complex look. Just how many trump cards did he have under his sleeves? Looking at him, he had closed eyes as if he was sensing not seeing.
The man left after failing to find any clue. The man had a great instinct because he stood outside the door waiting for them to move before he finally left for good. Had he gone more than 100 meters and stopped Alaric would not have sensed him but standing less than twenty meters was a piece of cake for Alaric.
Having confirmed the man was gone, Alaric set out for the gate. He could evade those he could and hid from those he couldn't. It was then that an idea struck him. He stood at one corner and put Aurora on the ground.
He removed the concealment array from himself and whispered at Aurora.
"I will carry you on my back and we will leave. Make sure you make no sound and don't let go," Alaric said.
Aurora gave him a confused look. What was he planning. She saw him age to a very old man and a stick gradually appeared on his hand. He had white hair and white beards. He was wearing an old brown mage robe and sandals.
"Get on my back and hold on tight," Alaric said to her with an aged voice. His wrinkles deepened when he raised his brows. She did not know what his plan was and decided to go with the flow.
She laughed when she saw his appearance. She almost laughed out loud when he smiled revealing his gums without top incisors and lower canines. She held in her laugh and jumped on his back.
He went to the main street leading towards the city gate. She looked around and saw various masked men running after seeing an old man with unreadable cultivation. Aurora was laughing in the inside. So this was the plan. She had to agree that she too would fall for it.
Old men using walking sticks were usually the most feared. These old men were usually already in the God Plane after refusing to ascend or almost in the God plane. Reaching the God Plane meant ascending to a higher realm and that was the Immortal Realm or what humans called Transcendent Realm.
Once one reached the God Plane, they would get instantly transported to the higher realm but there were these old dangerous men who could defy that law and keep living in the Mortal Realm.
So when these masked men saw him, they would only think of one thing.
"A god." That was the general name given to them on the Mortal Realm. Who knew that maybe this god was bored and wanted to kick some ass?
Rumour has it that the presence of a god alone is enough to flatten a city. Their least strength was enough to bore a hole between the planet. They had the ability to kill without even raising a brow. If they wanted to, they could flatten the city with their heartbeat alone.
Everyone let the old man through and even at the gate, he was met with little resistance because they were already intimidated by the presence of a god!
"Will you let me through or should I just destroy the entire city. If I did so, even your trashy array would not stand a chance and the outside would know what is happening here. Are you ready to risk your lives and those of your comrades due to your ignorance?" The old man asked the duo that was standing guard at the gate.
" But orders say we should not let anyone out. Don't put us in a difficult position. Why dont we contact our boss and ask for permission?" One of the guys on guard asked.
" So, to you am just anyone else. Maybe I should just show your the wrath of a god," the old man said. He raised his hand and the clouds turned dark. Thunder rumbled in the distance and the dark clouds covered the entire city. Red lightning struck right next to the two guards.
Seeing this, they fell on their knees and one peeied himself. They stepped away from the path and let him pass. Some of the masked guys in the city fainted. The power of a god was supposed to shake the entire planet.
Everyone of them heaved when they saw the clouds disappear. They could not help but wonder who had dared anger a god such that he had unleashed such a wide range attack. They were lucky to be alive.
