Chapter 73. Plot

Alaric felt dry tears fall from his eyes. He was going to stop making promises during critical moments. He now had put himself through hell. He also could not reject any request or command given by the system.

He had just been reunited with his friends...

He was going to sacrfice two months. Also he could not help but wonder what was going on around. That which had caused Aurora and Rey to leave in such a hurry. Especially Rey was in haste.

'Sarah, how long till I can move?' He asked. He could not believe that physician. Had she not predicted that he would be in a coma for ten years?

[...]- You should move in ten hours at the current rate.

Alaric felt shaken once again. So, that physician was close to right. This was to mean that he would have taken almost eight years to wake up. He was beginning to thank his stars for protecting him.

' Sarah, when is the day today?' He asked.

[...]- Today is the end of year's party. At the moment, it's prize giving time.

He sighed. He must have missed his exams. He did not care about the presents though since all he had received never were useful for him. He could also not understand why the system wanted him awake before the time for the party.

He seemed to be reaching the end of his thoughts. He did not know what he was supposed to do before he woke up. He tried to sleep but had he not been asleep for the past two months? He was not sure if he was ging to fall asleep any time soon.

He could only wait as he felt his body heal up. Maybe if he watched it, he would be able to pass the time. Also, he could feel his burning stomach. Never had he gone this long without food.

Rey kept kneeling not knowing what was to happen next. He was the only one left in the Marshal Pit. He stood up with his hands hanging loosely. His steps were ragged as he went down the stairs.

One looking at him could think it was a zombie. He walked down and headed for the exit. He did not know where to go. He was not attending the party without Claire. He walked towards the infirmary.

This was what he usually did whenever he had something bothering him. He always told Alaric his problems when he was unconcious. Whenever he left the room after telling his problems, he always felt relieved.

He opened the door and went to sit on his usual bed. He took Alaric's hand. He could not help but wonder. Why was it that he always had these death nearing accidents? Were he and death close friends or relatives?

No one would get close to dying so many times and survive all. He looked at the guy sleeping peacefully. Since he met him, he had never found a reason to find other friends. But that was not what had brought him here.

"I know you are not hearing this but something bad happened. I was dumped. Can you believe it? Am I not the one who always leave them? Why did she have to do it today of all days? Should she not have waited?

" Where am I going to get a girl now? There are few hours left. Or maybe I should also not attend. I, your best Rey will keep you company till you wake up. Hopefully you can wake up before then. Maybe I won't be bored if you are around.

"I know about you and Aurora. I wonder how the two of your have managed to be together all this long. Also, how could you two keep such an important secret feom me? Don't you trust me?

"I am sure that the two of you are together and doing great. Sadly am not as blessed in that sector as the two of you. Could you tell me the secret? I have tried but usually failed," he paused and rubed his nose.

" Claire was... I thought that she was the one. We have been together for three months now. How could she leave me? It took me long to get her to like back and she did eventually.

" How am I going to face the world without her? I was just having fun carrying Aurora around to the stadium. Who could have thought that she was this serious. She asked me to leave Aurora but I didn't.

"I must be a fool. I said that she was a best friend and went around carrying her infront of everyone. I now realize that you don't give female friends lifts.

"I am waiting for you to wake up and pass me some of those skills of yours. Did you not get Aurora with the first try? You also should tell me how far the two of you have gone," Rey finished.

He raised his legs and covered himself with the sheets. He curled up and tightened his hold on the white sheet on his chest. He faced away from Alaric and closed his eyes. And in few seconds, he fell asleep.

Alaric did not know how long it had been before he heard the next footsteps. When the door opened and he heard where the person had sat, he knew it was Rey.

Also he knew that the ceremony was over. He felt Rey take his hands and he pulled away but he could not. He could tell that in few hours, he would open his eyes. He was in a mixture of emotions when he heard Rey's words.

At some points, he would laugh at him and when Rey spoke about the relationship between him and Aurora, he would get angry. Why would he have such thoughts? He would never hide something like that from him or anyone.

He congratulated him when he heard they had been together for three months. Rey usually had a girlfriend even for a day and break up the following. Three months should have been marked in history.

He realized that Rey was climbing on the bed and in few minutes, he was asleep. Alaric pitied him. Never had he seen Rey depressed over a girl. He was using the excuse of the party to feign ignorance and hide.

But Alaric knew better. Maybe his feelings were legit this time. There was never a time Rey spoke about the girl he broke up with until then. He could tell that his friend was in love.

He was going to use the words as a trump card when he woke up. Hopefully he would win. His thoughts stopped when he heard incoming footsteps. They were light and he could guess that it was a girl.

At first he had thought it was Aurora but he discarded the thought. He was going to mark Aurora's scent so that he would always know when she was close to him even when he could not see her.

The steps stopped at the bed Rey was sleeping. He listened.

"So it actually did a number on you," the girl spoke. Alaric was sure that he had never heard that voice before. And also what was she talking about? Who was she?

"I have warned you everyday to stay away from Aurora but you never listen. Do you ever care about my feelings? You say that you love me but you end up doing all things I want you to do to me to that bitch Aurora.

"Am I not as good as her? I am going to make sure that tonight, I get my revenge on you. You should know that only I and I alone can have your heart. You will pay for breaking my heart.

" I have a good surprise for you tonight. After tonight's events, you will always stay close to me. You will never be able to look at that bitch Aurora again. I love you Rey so much and will do everything to keep you by my side." The lady spoke.

Alaric tried to move his body but he failed. He cursed every second that passed. That girl was probably Claire. She was planning on doing harm to Rey. Alaric could not tolerate anyone who threatened his friends' life.

From what he had picked up from her words, she was not alone. She also had the audacity to insult Aurora. Calling her 'bitch' was unforgivable. Insulting someone he cared for was enough for him to fight back.

He heard the girl stand up. He also heard something like a kiss. He heard her footsteps leaving the infirmary. Her footsteps faded away and the room was silent. Only Rey's fast breathing could be heard. Could it be that he was having a nightmare?

"Claire! Please don't leave me..."
