Chapter 71. Awake

Few hours ago. Lightning struck inside the infirmary. Not that the infirmary was struck but the boy sleeping on one of the beds. There were two lightning strkes. The first was purple and the other was blue.

The purple lightning struck first on his chest. He was suddenly lifted up in the air and was covered with a purple dome. The room gained a purple blinding light. It lasted for around ten seconds and he was dropped gently on the bed as the purple lightning dissipated.

Immediately it disappeared did the blue lightning strike. The blue lightning struck right on spot at the middle of his heart. He shook violently as the lightning coated him and started attacking his cells. But they were not destroyed though.

One could see the lightning coarsing and heading towards his meridians. He shook even more as his meridians gained a blue glow. The lightning finally reached his nerves and struck them. He went still as blood seeped from all his seven orifices.

Also his heart seemed to have stopped. The lightning was now charging to his brain where the receptor nerves had gone dormant. The lightning seemed to destroying them but it was actually charging them.

The lightning finally reached his brain and it appeared to all be coated in blue lightning. The lightning on his body dissipated and the blood that had been on him disappeared. His heart that had stopped beat again and his breathing started. Then, a notification popped up.

SUBJECT]- Alaric Millicenta.

Alaric tried to open his eyes but he could not. He could not even lift a finger. He picked something with his instinct. He could feel two pairs of footsteps coming towards the infirmary. He felt the door open and two people sat on opposite beds on each sides.

He did not have to guess to know who the two were. He was glad that the two had come. He could sense that their breathing was slightly faster than normal. It seemed that they had been running.

Maybe something had happened that brought them here in haste. He felt two small hands pick his. He wanted to pull it but could he? He could only think and feel...

"Why did you run here after the second manifestation?" Rey asked slightly confused. Alaric could now tell that his lightning manifestation had appeared and that was what had healed him.

He could now tell why. Rey did not know about his identity but Aurora did. She must have come running thinking that he was awake and Rey must have followed her.

"Its not in my position to tell you about him. The reason being I found out about it personally and he was not that pleased with my discovery. I suggest that you wait for him to wake up and maybe he can decide to explain a few things to you. Sorry but I can't snitch on a friend," Aurora said as a matter of factly.

Alaric was pleased with her. He surely was going to stay at rest knowing that she could keep it secret. Even from Rey who was their best friend. He heard Rey scoff and he laughed but it was only in his brain. He knew that that though, could not silence Rey.

"So you are now collaborating to keep me in the dark? Soon I will find out," Rey said seriously but Aurora just giggled. She giggled... His heart was excited. She giggled.... He could not tell how long he had been off and he suddenly missed her.

"What is funny with my words? Or is there something on my face?" Rey asked annoyed.

" I must say that you are doing a great job putting a serious face infront of me nowadays. But that facade only makes you look even more of a joker to me," she said and started giggling again.

Alaric could only give a thumbs up in his mind. She seemed to have a way of conquering Rey now. He was going to learn from her. Rey always won against him oftentimes and he only won in the battle of words when it was something natural that happened to Rey.

He heard Rey join the laugh but his was a sarcastic one. That of someone whose pride had been hurt. Alaric was feeling great hearing his biggest enemy being flattened.

" You mean that you can never accept that I could be serious?" He asked after quietening. Alaric was dying with laughter. Someone was desperate and hurt.

" Its gonna take a lot more than that to fool me," he gave another thumbs up when he heard her reply. He had found a source of refuge.

He heard another pair of footsteps and he wondered who else could have probably gained info about him. Not many knew that he was the owner of the manifestation and those who did, most did not know what it was.

He heard the door open and a new voice he could not place. His memory when it came to remembering people's faces and voices was very poor and he could only remember the important faces. Her words caught him offguard.

"Would the two of you mind leaving me to do a check up on him?" She asked. Alaric was tensed up when he heard her words. Could it be that an enemy had infiltrated the academy and were trying to have him erased?

" We are not leaving until you tell us about his condition," Aurora said and he felt his heart calm down. He could only thank Aurora for keeping him company. He did not know what the woman was trying to do to him but she could do nothing bad with the two present.

" Sometimes you are very stubborn," Rey said. He felt a hand on his chest and a warm comfortable feeling. He could tell that something was scanning him. He wondered what the woman was trying to find out in his body.

"What is it that you have discovered?" Aurora asked. He also wanted to know what she had been looking for.

"This is very good news. At the rate he had been healing before, he would have taken ten years to fully awake. It seems that the lightning has integrated in his body and has started building impulse.

" I approximate that in about twelve hours, he will be awake. It is a miracle that he has managed to regain the ability to send impulses to the brain again. The lightning strikes probably hit him and some of it was directed towards his brain. His brain is now able to communicate with his body. That is all," the woman said and left.

From her analysis, he could now tell that she was a physician. He now also realized that he was in the infirmary. He should have been happy with the new discovery but twelve hours felt like forever.

His brain was also in chaos when he heard that he could have taken ten years to heal up. Now he wanted more than nothing to know how long he had been asleep. But his mind came to standstill the next instant.

He felt Aurora's hands clasp his again. She rubbed them and felt them with her cheeks. He wanted to pull away but he could not. His mind which was in chaos became still and exploded into another streak of chaos when she kissed his hand. She then tightened her grip on it.

Rey cleared his throat several times trying to gain some attention then asked a question that stopped his thoughts again.

"How long has this been going on?" He asked.

"What?" Aurora asked confused. Alaric felt like he could stand up and start punching him.

"So you want to play dumb? How long have you two been like this?" Rey asked again. The events of the tunnel then recurred in his mind. He heard Rey sigh.

"Won't talk still?" Rey pressed on. Alaric could tell that he was thinking that he was catching up on something great.

"It has been going on for a long time. Its only that your brain was so small to understand it. I can't wait to hold him in my arms and feel him again..."
