In the Shrieking Shack, a place known to be haunted by wizards due to the nightly screams that constantly occurred, two suspicious-looking men met for a late-night conversation.
"I need to see him... I need to see Lupin... I should have taken care of him," Sirius Black spoke, his body weary and weak, to his long-time friend who was assisting his miserable stay in the cursed house.
"Ah, Sirius, my friend, do you think it wise to go see him?" Lupin sighed, seeing the state his friend was in. "You even invaded Hogwarts through the passage the Headmaster made for me to escape on full moon nights."
Sirius felt immense anger for the deaths of Lily and James, even more rage for spending years in Azkaban while the true culprit remained free; that cursed rat was indeed a rat.
"It was Peter... it was him, Lupin... he betrayed the Potters," Black said angrily, his thirst for revenge growing every year in prison, solely focused on ending Pettigrew's life. "That damn traitor even hid from us that he was an animagus... cursed rat," he complained.
"A rat? Truly fitting for him," Lupin sighed, recalling the Gryffindor friend who always accompanied them on their adventures.
"How was that coward in Gryffindor?" Sirius exclaimed indignantly about the Sorting Hat's mistake.
"Here, my friend, you need to eat," Lupin handed over a package of food. Sirius seemed like he hadn't eaten in days from his current state. "Why did you do that to the Fat Lady's portrait, Sirius?" referring to the incident of the invasion, Lupin asked.
"Hmm... well... hmm... Ah! She wouldn't let me in... hmm... wanted to see Harry," he replied between bites.
"I understand!" Lupin smiled, knowing this was indeed his friend's way of acting. "Here, take this, it's not the best, but it might help you," he tossed a package to Sirius.
Sirius, not stopping his eating as it had been hours since he had eaten anything, opened the package with his free hand. "Hmm? A wand?" he asked.
"For defense," Lupin explained.
"I won't need it! I'll kill that rat with my own hands," he said, envisioning Peter dying at his hands. "I feel he's in the castle, that coward knows how to hide in plain sight."
"And how will you find him?" Lupin questioned.
"How?... ... ... The map!" Sirius exclaimed. "With the map, we can find him, Lupin," he replied joyfully.
"I'll see what I can do to locate him," Lupin assured.
{ Nathaniel's Point of View }
While the two conversed, a small ice-made creature had stealthily entered through the passage and located the two men, listening to their secretive conversation.
After the fourth ritual, Nathaniel had a stronger connection with his ice summonings.
It was as if he could split his mind and control the creature while still remaining in control of his own body, something truly fascinating.
"'Pettigrew? A rat... interesting,'" he thought, as when a wizard becomes an animagus, they must report their ability to transform to the Ministry of Magic and be registered.
For example, Professor Minerva was an animagus who could transform into a cat.
Unfortunately, not everyone in the wizarding world follows the Ministry's law, Nathaniel sighed, as he himself didn't entirely follow the laws, and the few he did follow were very limited.
"They mentioned a map and that Black didn't betray the Potters, just as Fudge told me at the bar," he pondered the situation. But despite the doubts and possibilities, it was certain that he should act with the thought of keeping Hogwarts and its students safe.
And certainly, Sirius Black's anxiety to invade the castle to see Harry was not safe. Even with Lupin's help, a Hogwarts professor, it put the school's reputation at stake.
If some people were aware of the information, and apparently Dumbledore knew about the secret passage that allowed Sirius to enter, the position of the Headmaster could be at risk.
This would also jeopardize Nathaniel's agreement with Dumbledore, and that was something Professor WinterHeart would not allow, as he needed access to Hogwarts to locate certain artifacts.
Returning his focus to the vision his animal provided, a whirlpool engulfed Nathaniel as he disappeared.
{ Lupin's Point of View }
Lupin was still incredulous about the information that Peter was a treacherous rat. He already had various problems due to the werewolf bite he suffered and now had to take care of Sirius and ensure he didn't do anything reckless again.
"What's this package for?" Lupin noticed a strange package beside Sirius and asked.
Sirius looked at the package and smiled, "For Harry... he doesn't have a broom, right... I... I invaded the factory and got this one for him," recounting his adventure to get a new broom for his godson. "I hope it'll be useful," he commented.
Lupin sighed.
The room fell silent for some time.
When Sirius and Remus felt their bodies become paralyzed upon hearing the voice of someone unknown to the place.
"Petrificus Totalus" (x2), the sound of the spell echoed before they could react.
Footsteps approached, and soon the unknown figure revealed itself in front of the two.
"A lovely time for a meeting, isn't it, Lupin?" Nathaniel, after ensuring both were paralyzed, made his presence known.
"It seems Dumbledore will have some surprise visitors tonight," he imagined the old wizard's face with him bringing his former proteges in custody. "It's going to be a long, long night, my friends."
