Dinner after all of that was a quiet affair. Vincent's mind was so crammed with thoughts he didn't know where to begin.
He had suspected Maya's feelings ran deeper than she let on since they talked on the lazy river but having them confirmed in such a way was unexpected. She didn't want more than he could give after all.
But that wasn't the worst part. Someone had made her that way. He was going to have to find out who and destroy them the same way he had destroyed Scott Langford. Or worse.
Vincent doubted she would find out but she wasn't likely to mind even if she did. He had told the truth—he hadn't seen the need for that coming—for the first time in his life. And she accepted it. He knew she would understand him given the chance!
He never spoke of what happened to anyone. She was the first person to know.
