Back to the same area in the woods as in the day before, Farn once again brought Niel here, but this time it seems like he has something different in planned for him.
"Today, I prepared something for you." Farn smiled as he hid his hands behind his back, making it obvious he's holding something.
"What kind of trap did you set dad? You know I'm only four right?" Niel narrowed his eyes as he questioned what Farn prepared.
"You should have some trust in your father, I'm thinking of the best for you." Farn replied with an expression of disappointment.
"I can't after you tried to send me into to dungeon on my own, if mom wasn't there I would be monster food by now." Niel had an angry expression while his eyes twitched.
A few days ago when Farn decided it would be time for Niel to begin his training in combat, he wanted to take Niel into a dungeon then leave him to survive there on his own for a week.
In Origo dungeons being places where a large amount of monsters are collected and made into puppets controlled by the dungeon for its own survival, so inside them, there are multiple monsters that are organized into different floors depending on their rank in order to attract other preys, also anything that dies in the dungeon becomes fuel for its sustainability.
"Don't exaggerate, with your ability to control mana at your age, I doubt monsters on the first floor of a rank I dungeon could hurt you... If you had to become monster food, it would have to be at least in the second floor." Farn explained calmly while still hiding his hands behind his back.
"I'm four, dad could you be just a little subtle?" Niel shook his head and sighed at Farn's straight forwardness with a child.
"Subtlety is for normal kids, you're too smart for that. It's even hard to believe you're a kid at times, just by looking at how much time you dedicate to training your mana. But even I think that you should give yourself some time to be a kid, you're not getting this childhood back later, so make the most of it." Farn said looking at Niel with a serious expression and his brows wrinkling.
(Is he worried about me missing my childhood? And here I thought my dad wouldn't worry about these things... He's more perceptive than he lets on... Childhood huh?) Niel was slightly surprised by Farn's words.
"... I'll... I'll try." Niel responded as he began to focus on his own thoughts.
"Well, forget that for now. We have more pressing matters right now." Farn's smile returned as he looked at Niel excited. "Here's your first opponent!" Farn raised a boar into the air with both his hands.
"You want me to fight a monster?! I'm four! At least throw a rabbit at me!" Niel's eye was twitching at how unreasonable his father's idea is.
"Hahaha! I would, but rabbits aren't very common in this area and this is a magical beast, so you don't have to worry, this one is not stronger than you. As long as you make the right moves you'll be fine, otherwise, I'll save you if it seems like you're about to die." Farn pat Niel's heard and laughed then explained his plans.
"I don't trust this, especially the part where you said you'll only save me if I look like I'll die... Shouldn't you actually teach me something before throwing me at a fight?" Niel inquired unconvinced by Farn's words.
"There are some instincts that you should develop on your own before you get influenced by anyone's personal style, no two warriors fight exactly the same way even if they receive the same training, and that's also influenced by how you start and in my opinion, the best way to start is with your own rough and inexperienced style." Farn leaned in closer to Niel as he replied.
"That sounds completely unreasonable, shouldn't you avoid that to not build bad habits and there's also the possibility of hurting yourself." Niel responded with a confused expression.
"Nah, those bad habits are your foundations. If you want to make something new, you have to experience something different. Believe your father, I'll make you into a legendary warrior they'll tell stories about in 10,000 years or so." Farn once again smiled and this time he looked at the boar in his hands, that has been trying to escape with no success and. "<Lord's voice>, you'll fight to death with this child until I say otherwise." Farn ordered it while pointing at Niel.
"No! You're trying to kill me! I'm out!" Niel didn't feel like risking it like this and turned around to leave, but as he was doing so a hand grabbed his shoulder.
"Where are you going champ?" Farn asked with vicious eyes that emanated an evil aura.
(I have no other choice, I must use every man's last resort.) Niel thought as he pulled in air and. "MOM! DAD'S TRYING TO KILL ME!" Niel shouted out his lungs and considering their current location it seems useless to do so.
Nothing happened as silence took over the area.
"You thought I didn't plan for this? I made sure even wind mages like your mother couldn't hear us here." Farn said with an evil smirk.
"If you're not doing anything wrong why are you acting like a villain?" Niel asked with empty eyes upon realizing no one can save him.
After a bit more discussion, Niel gave up understanding that he couldn't escape and there was no use in trying anymore.
Niel moved to the center of the open area, and Farn put the boar down in front of Niel about 15 meters away, then he asked.
"Are you ready Niel?" While holding down the boar with one hand that didn't seem like it was exerting even the most minimal amount of strength.
"Yes!" Niel narrowed his eyes and had an aura burning with determination.
Farn nodded and let go of the boar that was about 90cm tall and 175cm long, with brown fur covering most of its the body while the top of its back it has a green line. It doesn't have any tusk coming out of its mouth.
This boar is a dashing boar that belongs to the magical beast species. As its name says, this type of boar is known for its dashing speed and impact power.
It began charging towards Niel, and before he could do anything to react to it the boar was already in front of him.
*Bam*
It sent him flying a few meters back hitting the ground, but that wasn't enough for the boar as it prepared to attack again.
(What?! It's this fast?... I couldn't follow the fight between my father and the other boar, but I didn't think that I can't even follow this one... I'll have to move in anticipation.) Niel slowly got up while his teeth clenching and his right hand holding his abdomen, then he looked at the trees around him and once again focused on his enemy.
Just as Niel looked at the boar again, it was already too late since the boar was already close enough to hit him, It was too late.
*Bam*
*Growl*
Niel was once again thrown back by the boar, as it taunted him with its growl for being such an easy target.
Farn just watched the scene unfold without moving a muscle, his expression being as neutral as it gets while he observes attentively the battle.
Niel was on the ground trembling and coughing, these blows were strong in his young body and if he was a normal child he would be unconscious by now, but he hold onto it despite feeling strong pain.
(I guess I have to use it... Being four limits me too much... ) Just as Niel got up, a purple aura started surrounding his body as he looked at the boar quite pissed. "I'm eating bacon today!" Niel declared.
<Mana reinforcement-lv-3>
The boar didn't seem to notice this and charged again, but this time as it got close enough to Niel, he dodged by jumping to the right at the last moment.
The boar looked at Niel confused, it couldn't understand why this slow and weak mana folk suddenly managed to dodge its attack that easily.
Niel smiled and taunted the boar to attack him again with his hand. The boar didn't lose any time and come at full speed and even slightly faster than before, it seemed to be planning to make this its final move.
*Growl*
*Bam*
The boar hit... A tree. Niel dodged it after having attracted the boar where he wanted it, then immediately attack the boar from the side with his whole body slamming the boar, sending it rolling a few meters.
*huff* *huff*
Niel breathed heavily as a bit of sweat fell down his forehead, it seems he's already on his last reserves of energy.
"Enough! Your mana reserves can't handle using that much mana yet." Farn shouted as he appeared next to Niel in an instant, then carried him back home and the boar just followed.
-Later-
Inside a room with a desk full of paper. Farn was signing then while rubbing his forehead.
"These damn papers keep piling up... But it's worth seeing how impressive my son is... A level one fight a level 5 on the same standing... No, he even got stronger than the dashing boar for a bit before going low on mana... How will Elaina react to this... Argh! So much to worry about, I really hate being a noble..." Farn continued to work with the mountain of paper works as he complained about it.
