Not Unsettling

I left Sarah's house and headed straight home, leaving Jess with her. Before I left, I made sure to tell Jess not to run off—we needed to talk later. Normally, I'd hesitate to trust Sarah with Jess for reasons that probably don't need explaining. But now that she's absolutely loyal to me, I wasn't worried.

I even made simple tests to make sure the loyalty actually worked. I couldn't blindly believe everything the system told me without verifying the information first.

Even though she was still the same, she was also different—not in a noticeable way. But she was more attached to me. I didn't really know how to feel about it. On one hand, it helped me avoid the mess that comes with trusting someone you barely know. But on the other hand, it felt wrong to strip someone of their choice to want to be loyal to someone.
