I woke from a strange dream after taking what I thought would be a power nap. But judging by the sun streaming through my open window, it was longer than that.
The dream was an unusual one; for the first time in a while, it was totally unrelated to events of the past. This dream was about me, inside a penthouse, at the very top, sipping fine wine as I overlooked the large expanse of the city I owned.
But that was something I had expected to happen in the near future, so I wasn't that surprised. What unsettled me, though, was how alone I felt at the top, with no one by my side—no family, no friends, just me.
I shook my head to clear the dream and got off the bed. I was wore Sarah's sweatpants and went downstairs, feeling hungry. I wondered how long I'd slept.
I made my way to the kitchen and found my mother baking her delicious chocolate cookies. "Hi, Mom?" I greeted.
