"Hmm?" the man's tone lifted slightly.
Although she couldn't see, Su Zixi could imagine his expression at that moment, with the corners of his lips slightly turned up in a smile that was not quite a smile.
She gritted her teeth, but had no choice but to mumble reluctantly, "I'm scared being alone, don't go..."
He laughed again, "So, it's you asking me to stay?"
Su Zixi nodded angrily, then remembered that he couldn't see her movements in the dark, and so she relented with an unwilling "Mhm."
"All right." His tone seemed rather reluctant.
Su Zixi felt suffocated and decided to change the subject, "Were you busy just now? Did I interrupt you?"
"Yes," he admitted without hesitation, "I was in the middle of a remote meeting, and now I have to interrupt it."
Su Zixi felt another wave of guilt and was thinking about how to speak when she suddenly heard the man's unrestrained laughter.
