I Became the monster that I hunt.

A ruthless monster hunter died at the age of fifty. During his prime, Oliver exterminated all living beings as long as it is a monster. He is not one to show mercy, and this never changed until his death. Arising on a new planet, the merciless hunter soon noticed that he has a new body and mind. Nature played a joke on him by transferring him into a new but similar world, a world where monsters and humans battle each other. The Big One Must Go Down

"I'll go after the Humanbrid. With him down, the rest of them should be a piece of cake,"

"I have a better idea," said Carson, "How about you do nothing?"

"That's not an option,"

Gael got up with both of his hands raised.

"I_ I am kind of late for work. You don't mind me leaving, do you?"

Everyone stared at him, not sure what to make of this. Does he not understand his predicament?

One of the robbers, irritated by this, tried to hit Gael using the back of his gun. This is exactly what was needed.

Gael evaded, broke the arm of the robber, and collected his gun. He swung the weapon and hit the Humanbrid, using that small opening to close the distance between himself and that person.

The humanbrid tried to shoot but Gael caught his hand, redirecting his shot to the ceiling, and then broke that hand.

"F*ck!" The humanbrid cursed, tried to distance himself but Gael followed him, leaving no space.

He noticed that the other robbers were about to shoot him. Gael used the humanbrid as a shield, an effective decision that killed the humanbrid.

Gael accelerated and caught up to one robber, killing that one before darting towards the next. In an instant, a humanbrid and three robbers had been taken down. The remaining two knew without a doubt that they are dealing with an Awakened, a realization that sent shivers running down their spine.

They tried to flee but were not fast enough. They cannot outrun an experienced Awakened.

In no time, all threats had been nullified. All the robbers are immobilized or unconscious thanks to Gael.

Soon, a round of applause resounded from everyone present, they are very grateful for his help and are showing their appreciation in this way.

"Isn't it too soon," said a familiar voice.

The humanbrid stood on his feet with great difficulty. He looked like he was in pain just as much as he is angry.

"Everyone will pay for your foolishness," he said.

A large amount of spirit energy was gathering around the humanbrid's arm. The enemy is going to release an explosive power that has the potential of blowing up the whole building. Gael pushed forward and sent a powerful kick to his face, shooting him out of the building into another.

*BOOOMM!!*

The other building went up in flames due to the humanbrid's action. Yet, it doesn't seem like he's had enough, the urge for revenge did not subside. Gael could sense immense explosive energy gathering inside that flame. He jumped out of the way, and as result, the tea shop he was supposed to protect blew up. Most of the building had been taken over by the fire.

"You should have let me do my thing, you should have stayed quiet but you had to act like a hero. LOOK AT WHAT YOU'VE DONE. All of those lives could have been spared if it wasn't for you,"

Carson was right, Gael should have stayed put...

People had died because of him. Carson who is still inside should most likely be dead.

Shame, guilt, and worthlessness struck him hard. He couldn't even cry, the heat seemed to be drying his tears before they form.

"AND NOW! IT WILL BE YOUR TURN," the humanbrid roared as he unleashed fire, destroying and incinerating everything in sight.

Gael had to use the available properties and obstacles to shield himself as he tried to find an opening. This only caused more destruction via massive explosions.

The humanbrid is a lot stronger than he had expected. If only he knew that this person had this much power, Gael would have done better ...maybe not do anything at all.

He kicked the air, pushing himself forward as he evade every fatal blow coming his way. Gael is coming close but had to stop on his track, darting in a different direction. In that instant, after he did that, an explosion covering many grounds occurred.

How is he so powerful? What kind of monster was he fused with?

Gael could not believe his eyes. A powerful human that is this evil should not be allowed to roam freely. This person is a danger to everyone around him.

'I will be dead if I hold back,' Gael thought.

'In that case...'

*Power output; 20%*

His fine body began to release a small amount of steam. He positioned himself downward with his feet tightening against the floor. A shockwave spread out as he pushed forward like a bullet, catching up to his foe in less than a second

"eh?"

An upward punch to the gut opened a hole from that impossible force. The humanbrid refused to die, but of course, Gael is prepared.

"DAMN YOU!"

The humanbrid tried to ignite another explosion to give himself enough breathing space, or even better, kill Gael. To his dismay, his human enemy had gotten too close, sending a mind-boggling punch to the face. This is a blow that cracked the facial bone, especially the nose.

More blows from Gael continued to multiply injuries upon injuries. Anger caused him to beat the living hell out of the humanbrid, beating sense into the human_monster until his final move shredded half of the humanbrid's face.

Gael huffed. He won but was not satisfied. He did not feel better. Carson is still dead... all because of him.

He knelt and shouted at the top of his voice;

"F*CK!!!"

* * *

*ffftttt!*

A long string of wounds was inflicted on the beastman. He fought a skilled Orclin, easily losing to this creature. Boaz could not accept defeat, he pounced at the Orclin, intending to chop it from limb to limb.

*Foolish creature,* said the Orclin. Its eyes had an evil glow.

Boaz lost an arm. As he fell to the ground, he lost one of his legs also. He was rendered immobile and in pain.

The Orclins looked less bulky, at least most of them. They were far smarter, stronger, and very very skillful. One alone had taken down three of the hunters, immobilizing all of them the same way. None had thought of encountering a creature of this level. Orclins were supposed to be all brawn but no brain... how wrong they were.

In the distance, seven Orclin emitting the same aura stood behind. This is not a battle that needed their active participation. They were disappointed by how weak these humans were.

*"Ignire told us not to underestimate our incoming enemies... It seems we overestimated them,"* said one Orclin named Orion.

*"hmph, This is a waste of my time,"* said another who then walked away. His presence isn't needed.

Anchor's only option of getting out of here is to use his partner as canon fodder, buying himself enough time to flee. He kicked Dwayne forward and ran away at full speed.

"Damn it. Nobody told me they were this troublesome," he said, still on the run.

The other hunters, under the lead of Leon, had broken through the fourth gate. The first thing they noticed was the corpses scattered on all corners.

Up ahead stood a giant gate leading to the fifth entrance. A banging coming from the inside caught their attention.

"Help!" a voice shouted, "Somebody help,"

Anchor could not open the gate. Nothing he tried worked. He must leave this place or he's f*cked. He heard a knock alerting him to the presence of the other hunters.

"Open the door!" he screamed, banging the gate even harder. "Open up now!"

No one can help him. Those on the other side couldn't even hear his voice. Only the banging came to their hearing. They used whatever means possible but the gate remained closed.

"How do we get in? the gate remained still," said Zilla.

"The entrance might have been locked from the other side,"

"By whom?"

"It has to be them. They do not want to share whatever they will find."

"We can not return, not after we've gone this far,"

The nameless hunter felt a slight unease but did not make that known. Besides, no one will listen to him. They will not listen to someone who has never contributed.

To their surprise, the gate opened by a little, enough for the biggest person to pass.

'Something is wrong,' the masked hunter said inwardly. His suspicion became clear when he noticed blood on the floor.

"Maybe we shouldn't rush," he finally spoke up, pointing at his discovery.

"Something is here," he added.

The gate closed behind them at the exact time they all noticed the blood stain. Could this be?_

"It won't open," said a hunter trying to push the gate.

"Heads-up everyone. We are trapped and our foe will not be the same ones we're used to dealing with," said Leon.

A yellow ray pierced through his shoulder, injuring the big guy. Leon fell, weakened by his wound.

Since he is the strongest, Leon must go down first. The others shouldn't be a cause for worry.
