I Am The Witness

The life of a 26-year old author, Aixela Louisiana Supresencia, was simple with her mother and sister who raised her. Aixela was orphaned early because of a mishap that caused her to meet the man who turned into her inspiration in writing her novels. This man is the one who saved her life. Aixela dreams of becoming a famous author like her late mother but the right time for her rise has not yet come so she just continues to write and take care of their family business where she met her boyfriend Louis. Her relationship with her boyfriend went well until it gradually cooled down and changed. One day she decided to visit the grave of her bereaved mother. She does it every year but unexpectedly, this visit will make a big difference in her life. On her way back to the airport, she accidentally witnessed a crime that caused her and Police Inspector John Dether Anton Dy Jr. to cross paths. Anton was the police officer who helped her when the culprit tried to chase her. He also provided a witness protection program to Aixela where they had to live under the same roof to guarantee her security. Anton has dreamed since he was a child to be a good detective like his late father and as he was preparing for his promotion test, he met Aixela which also caused him to change his outlook in life. The two did not get along well with each other at first, but later they became sympathetic to each other, especially when Anton helped Aixela to move on when she broke up with her long-term boyfriend who fooled her. Aixela, on the other hand, helped Anton prepare for his promotion test. The two became close to each other and investigated the case together. Along with the various trials they faced while resolving the case was the deepening of their feelings to each other until they discovered something.

Aixela's Pov:

"Wow! Ms. Supresencia, I almost don't recognize you." The inspector said to me while nodding. "Good job, Officer Dy!" He praised him.

"That's my job, Sir," He humbly said.

"How are you, Ms. Supresencia? Have you adjusted to your situation now?" The inspector asked me.

I picked up the paper and ballpen and started writing. [I'm completely fine, Sir. I'm still practicing not to speak.]

"Well, I'm glad to know that," He said.

"Later I will meet with my acquaintances in the other precincts to get the records I asked for. I will try to check if we can get any lead or even a little information from there," said Mister Police Officer.

"All right," The inspector replied. "But what about Ms. Supresencia? Will you take her with you or will you take her home first?"

I looked at Mister Police Officer and read his thoughts in his eyes.

"I will take her home first before I meet them," He answered.

I raised an eyebrow at what he said.

"Why Ms. Supresencia? Is there a problem?" The inspector asked. He apparently noticed that I did not agree with Anton's answer.

[You shouldn't leave me alone, should you? I am under your protection program, right?] I wrote on the paper.

"But it's more dangerous if you stay outside. We don't know how much the culprit knows about you so it's still safer if you stay at home," Anton replied.

[But what if the culprit suddenly shows up to me while I'm alone in your house?]

He was going to answer, but the inspector spoke. "All right, I think it's better for Ms. Supresencia to be here at the precinct first while you meet with them. We'll take care of her."

I replied with a hard nod while Anton looked annoyed. What now? Aish! Was he retaliating against me for last night?

"All right then, submit your report and leave Ms. Supresencia to Detective Givenchy first. I'll be back to my office. Just let me know if there's a problem," The inspector said.

"Yes, Inspector," Mister Police Officer saluted.

They got up so I stood up too. Before he walked away, he looked at me sharply as if he was going to eat me.

"Don't make a fuss while I'm away," He said and walked straight. What? Really?!

¬¬¬

"Detective Givenchy!" Mister Police Officer greeted a man sitting as we approached him. "I'm sure you already know her. She was the witness in the case you are holding now."

"Ah! Aixela Supresencia, right?" He asked and I nodded. "Detective Noah Givenchy of Homicide Department," He said and offered to shake hands.

"I'll leave her with you first, I just need to take care of something. Inspector also ordered it. Don't worry. It won't take long," said Mister Police Officer.

"It's okay, don't worry. I'm not doing much and it looks like I won't have a hard time watching her," Detective Givenchy replied.

He suddenly grinned and he was obviously holding back a laugh.

"Actually..." He whispered to Detective Givenchy what he said next so I didn't hear it. They suddenly smiled because of that.

What was that? Is he backstabbing me? Just as I thought, he will retaliate. That madman!

"All right, Detective. I'll go first," He said and left.

"Are you ok?" The detective asked me. I nod as a reply.

"So, what should I call you? Ms. Supresencia? Axiela?"

[Just call me Xela.] I showed him what I had written.

"Oh, so your nickname is Xela. Is that also what Officer Dy calls you?" He asked. I shook my head.

"In that case, I'll be the first to call you Xela? My pleasure," He joked. We both just smiled.

"All right, sit here while you wait. If you need anything..." He pointed to the paper and ball pen as if to say that I should just write what I need. He made an OK sign or a ring gesture to confirm my answer that I imitated so we just smiled and he went back to what he was doing earlier.

Compared to the previous two detectives I saw, as well as that Officer Dy, Detective Givenchy was kinder and more comfortable to be with. When he noticed that I was a little bored, he told me to drink coffee with him so we sat on a bench next to their vending machine.

"Does it taste good?" He asked and I answered with a ring gesture.

Sometime later, we saw a female police officer rushing to the vending machine and buys a bottled coffee.

"Officer Dy!" She called him as she runs towards him.

"Take this, you look so tired," She said with a smile on her face.

Officer Dy just stared at her while the female police officer keeps on offering him the coffee.

"I can get my own coffee, ok?" He said and left straight away.

"Tsk tsk!" I was just shocked by what he did.

"You should get used to Anton's actions," Detective Givenchy suddenly said.

I wrote on paper. [Is he really like that?]

"Anton is really cold, especially with women. He is often angry and always rude. But he is kind. He also works hard. He really wants to be a detective."

[Why is he like that? Why does he seem allergic to women?"] I wrote again.

"I don't know either. But Inspector said Anton has been already like that when he was still young. Inspector also took care of him when his father died."

So his father is already dead? We are the same.

"Is that why they don't seem ok with the two detectives? Because they think your inspector's favorite is Anton?" I asked in the letter.

"Maybe..." He said. "You're also good at understanding situations. Maybe that's why you became a witness." We just laughed together.

"Detective Givenchy, you're just here. Detective Ishigami is looking for you," said a man who approached us.

He looked at me as if hesitant to leave me so I wrote. [It's ok. I'm fine here.]

"Ok, stay here first. I'll be back," He said, which I nodded and he left.

I was going to drink coffee, but there seems to be nothing left.

"Here," I was shocked when someone talked. "Take it. Looks like you need it more."

She sadly put the bottled coffee next to me and left.

'Officer Yzerman?' I said in my mind as I read her name tag.
