Ainz and Ray, who detached themselves from Shiroe's party, were heading to a certain dungeon north of Susukino.
Inside the dungeon, rather than fighting himself. He delegates the battle to his Servants which includes Artoria, Baobhan and Melu.
"Senpai, what are we looking for in this dungeon?" Ainz was curious since Ray didn't tell him anything after inviting him along.
"Hmn. Something crucial for the future plan." Ray shrugs and didn't explain much before he changed the topic. "By the way, what's your plan for your guild? I doubt you would sit still and act like this world is still a game. You should have already confirmed it, right? This is a living, breathing world that just happens to run on a game-like setting." Ray said while strolling with both hands behind his head.
Ainz didn't deny the accusations but neither would he want to acknowledge it. It just feels weird. A world that is like a game just like back in Yggdrasil. But somehow this world is a reality and not just a made up game. The people here are alive. It's just them, the Adventurer, the player is different.
"How about you, Senpai? Are you going to conquer Akiba and make it your dominion?"
Ray stopped for a moment and turned around to look at Ainz with a look that conveyed if Ainz is joking.
"Of course not. Ruling over people isn't like playing with toys. It's a tedious and thankless job. Why should I make my already boring life even more boring?" Ray shrugs and questions Ainz's intelect to even think he would want to lord over the people.
"But well, even if I don't want to. Someone might and among them, some already have their own ambition. For example Morgan from my guild. She wants to annex Akiba and make it her own kingdom. Then there's Sirin that wishes to establish her own guild and Tanya that wants to break off from her guild and create an intelligence agency type of guild to profit over conflict and sell information.
My point is, rather than worrying about me. You better worry about others because you and the others are worried about competition between each other. I will be busy dealing with the antagonist group and solving world ending problems.
But you do have a point. To further my goal. Akiba will first be united and establish a proper governing body and to achieve that you would need…"
"The Guild Building!" Ainz said as he reached a sudden epiphany as he recalled the last time he visited there and learned the importance and function of the building and how it could affect other players.
"Bingo. But not just the Guild Building. It's all the important facilities. For example the cathedral. Imagine if you banned a player from reviving in the city and kicked to the nearest city instead." Ray pointed it out for Ainz.
Ainz understands the information Ray is trying to share. But to gather currency is difficult. Especially after Ray disables point conversion to local currency for this world or else, he will be swimming in money with the point he amassed.
To collect gold from scratch is difficult. For low level enemies around Lv 10-30, they drop around 5-11 gold per kill while high levels Lv 90 mob drop around 100 gold per kill. To collect 10 Million Gold to buy the Guild Building is very time consuming and difficult, that's if assuming he even have the members to do it because there is limit of gold a person carry before their inventory get full and become encumbered which mean they have to regularly deposit their money into the Guild Building for safekeeping. Not to mention the money used on consumables, equipment repairs, etc.
Realistically, without relying outside help and then collaborating with the third guild for help, Ainz can gather 10 Million gold after 2-3 months, the fastest by grinding mobs in the hunting field.
Then there's the monthly maintenance fee of 50k Gold per month. Which doesn't look much but when owning multiple buildings, the cost will start to add up like crazy.
Without a way to earn the money needed to buy the building and pay its upkeep, it's a very bad idea to try to become the leader.
No singular guild could ever amass that amount of money. The only logical method is if they can unite all the adventurers and pool together money and later charge tax which will go to paying the upkeep.
"I see. So, this dungeon is the quickest way to earn money!" Ainz concluded and turned to Ray for his confirmation.
"No. Not really. It's not even related to fixing our money issue. Not directly at least." Ray corrected Ainz before he came to a complete halt.
They finally arrived at the entrance of the real dungeon.
"Royal Mausoleum of the Ancient Dwarven God?" Ainz read the name of the dungeon.
"Yep. I created this dungeon to drop a specific material that I will need rather than just create it with no challenge involved." Ray said with a rather proud tone. "By the way, I took some inspiration from the Yggdrasil raid dungeon to make this dungeon."
Ainz at first is smiling that Ray is into their role play, even creating a dungeon to drop the materials he needs rather than create them directly into his hand. But after hearing the latter part of what he said, his eyes immediately opened wide and stared at Ray in disbelief.
"Don't tell me you used the World Enemy raid dungeon as reference!" Ainz questioned Ray like he just had traumatic flashbacks.
"I did. Since it's the dungeon I make. I'm gonna make it the hardest to beat or else it wouldn't be a challenge at all." Ray replied innocently as if he did nothing wrong and looked confused at Ainz's reaction.
Ainz fell to his knees and punched the ground while spitting out colorful curses at the sadistic Devs that designed Yggdrassil's dungeons.
Ray have to physically drag Ainz into the dungeon while Ainz is having his episode and raving about lack of preparation etc.
