The world had served her the cruellest and bitter taste of life. From the mysterious death of her parents to her awful marriage which slowly ripped her off. All of this made her become a changed woman and she vowed never to love again because she believed that all men were evil. She was called the city bitch, a woman who rampaged the city, tortured men with her body and did cruel things to people. Nothing and no one could stop the hottest slayer in the city who bowed to no one. Digging gold with her pretentious smile that made men succumb to her and women green with jealousy. All these she did in viciousness to take down her lifetime enemy who ripped and turned her world upside down. Plotting her sweet great revenge, storming the city with her cruel and crazy acts, she was suddenly trapped in the web of the same oath she vowed not to break. Finding herself spelling the word LOVE seemed like a curse to her as she felt she will make the same horrible mistake that took the life she once had. Either she ruled and accomplished her revenge, or the city goes to ruin.
"Here Lana drink water and calm down."
Lana took the water from Mia and drank a little before gradually, she calmed down.
"I can't believe David is here again after what he had done. Now you see why I've been telling you to talk to Roselle about it. She is the only one who can stop David from doing whatever he is planning to do. If you had let Roselle know about that problem David won't have the guts to disturb you or talk of threatening you."
"But I'm not sure of what I saw that day Bernard. I can't just say it when I don't have the evidence to prove it. You know how my sister can be when she finds out one is lying to her. I can't just assume and conclude things."
"Yes is true, but it is still dangerous to keep her in the dark. We can't afford to wait until the damage is done before we control things."
Lana nodded and at this point she was helpless.
Mia came back walking hastily towards Lana. "Ma'am, I made sure the police took him to the station, the officer assured me that he would be strictly interrogated to get the truth out of him."
"Good." She complimented and asked, "Have you been able to contact Santiago?"
"No ma'am, his phone number is currently switched off."
"Oh, my goodness," Lana muttered. The negative answer she got made her heartache.
"Ma'am the police are here to speak with you," Mia informed.
Lana nodded and looked up, five policemen were walking towards her. She stood from her seat and approached them.
Bernard excused himself and left to talk with the workers.
"Good morning, ma'am." One of the policemen greeted Lana.
"Good morning, officer."
"I'm Officer Dior. I'm the head officer handling the case."
Lana nodded at him.
"We want to know ma'am, have you received any call from the kidnappers?"
"No, not at all."
The policeman nodded and asked. "Do you know who would have planned this, it can be an enemy?"
"No officer, I don't think my sister has issues with anyone."
"It can be here in the office or anywhere else."
"I can't remember Roselle having any problem with anyone," Lana replied.
The officer nodded and recorded.
"Any clue on where we can find the kidnappers?" Lana asked.
"No ma'am, we have been doing everything possible to find them but we couldn't trace the kidnappers."
Lana frowned. "This is not what I should be hearing from you officer, you're not doing your job well, my sister should have been back by now if you had taken her case seriously."
"Ma'am, we're doing everything possible to find her."
"But I'm not seeing everything possible you have done because my sister and Nate should be saved by now."
"Yes, we are aware of that but, ma'am, the search is tough and we can narrowly find where she is due to the huge amount Santiago placed for the reward. The kidnappers would hide them very well if they had seen that announcement."
"But that should have been a strategy to speed up the investigations. Since everyone is looking for her because of the huge amount involved, then she should be found faster."
"But ma'am, it's not how you think it is."
"You guys don't know what you're doing. I can say you're useless!" Lana yelled at the police and finally broke down in tears.
"Ma'am please calm down, we will make sure we find them." The office said. "Please if you receive any information don't to let me know. I will be going now." The policeman bowed and left.
Mila held Lana, curdling her out of there towards the restroom.
"Lana calm down okay, everything is going to be alright."
"Tell me Mila, why I'm I suddenly losing everyone? First, it was my sister and Nate, now Santiago is missing too?"
"I don't know how best to console you but trust that everything would be settled. Soon you'll have your sister back."
Mila tapped her gently on her back, and after some minutes, Lana was able to calm down a little. She watched her face as she forced herself to steady her footsteps as they went to Roselle's office.
Mia unlocked the office to allow Lana into Roselle's office.
Everywhere seemed cold as she poured through her memory of the time she visited her sister in the office. Those memories of her nagging her sister for skipping lunch and overworking herself played in her head now with a sad tone.
Mia who had gone to bring the refreshments for Lana was carried away when he entered the hall room where the office workers were.
Everyone's attention in the hall was drawn to the television on the news about Roselle again.
The channel was on BTS TV and they were discussing the kidnapper's encounter with the police.
People were still doubting why the kidnappers were able to escape with Nate right in front of the police. Even though the kidnappers opened fire at the policemen, there were so many ways the police should have gotten the kidnappers.
Mr Jude Oman was the one conducting the discussion on the TV with his co-newsman Jayson.
"I don't know why the people had to blame the police on this matter. The criminal was on hostage with the kidnappers, there was no way they could have captured them when the kidnappers were ready to shoot Nate and the guard with them." Jude Oman argued with Jayson.
"But the police should have found a better strategy to handle them. You can't tell me that just two kidnappers were able to hold two people hostage at the same while facing more than 15 policemen.
I mean the police should have found a way to make them surrender. The police are trained for this kind of thing. They should have this intelligence. They shouldn't have just stood there shouting for the kidnappers to drop their guns and surrender just like that. Even if I'm the kidnapper I won't surrender unless I get something threatening that will scare me and make me surrender."
"I understood your point here Mr Jayson but understand my point too. I believe you're trying to point out that the police should have shot the kidnappers, but first remember that if the police shot anyone of them it will warrant the kidnappers killing Nate and that guard. Besides the police don't have the shot right."
"Not in this matter Mr Jude."
"No Mr Jayson you're getting it wrong, you..."
Mr Jude Oman was interrupted by Jayson saying "Alright, to those who are watching us now we would like to get your opinion on this matter. What do you think? A lot of people have been blaming the police for allowing the kidnappers to escape and some accused the police of taking bribes to aid the kidnappers in this kidnapping. So what's your take on this?"
Jude Oman tried to control his anger for Jayson interrupting his opinion. If it was not that thousands of people were watching them, he would have blasted Jayson. He continued to listen as Jayson called out the numbers people would use to add their opinions.
In a split second, comments began to flood in. Jayson read out the comments of the people as the people blamed the police for allowing the kidnappers to escape. They were stating facts and steps intelligent policemen should have taken.
Jude seeing that no one was taking his side in not blaming the police, felt uneasy in his chair, wanting to end the program but he didn't have the power as Jayson was reading and reading comments from people and one of the comments drew attention and diverted the topic.
Someone had a comment about Melissa Tom who was believed to be killed by the kidnappers which drew more attention of everyone to the TV.
In this person's opinion, she wrote, "I want to clear something which I think is false about Melissa Tom who is believed to be killed by the kidnappers and I have strong evidence for this."
