The moment I told my parents I wanted to take the hunter exam and become a pro hunter in the future they started giving me hard looks.
Five minutes have passed since this began.
With none of us speaking a word since.
...
...
...
'Nope, this isn't awkward or uncomfortable at all.' I sarcastically thought.
When that's exactly what this situation is.
If I had known this was going to happen when I told my parents about what I wanted to do in the future I would've just kept the information to myself. I never expected this result.
"Son." My dad spoke. Finally breaking the silence and tension in the air. "Is it true? What you just said right now. Do you really intend to take the hunter exam and try and become a pro hunter in the future?"
"Yes." I said.
"Son, I don't think you are understanding what you are saying." My mother spoke up. "The hunter exam is dangerous. Taking it means risking your life." She said.
"Thanks for letting me know mom, but I still want to take it anyway." I retorted.
"Oh, you do?" Dad questioned me once more.
I nodded. "Yes, I do. No offense to anyone but living a mundane life is not something I want or ever wish to have. I want to explore the world, go on adventures, and see things no one else has with my own eyes. And the best way I know how to do that is to become a pro hunter. So that's what I'm going to do no matter how dangerous it might be or what anyone else says." I explained to my parents.
Getting ready to defend my dream once more to them if they asked anymore questions.
Since this is not something I will ever back down from.
Even if it means my parents and I end up having a strained relationship as a result.
After I made my case my parents looked at me for several seconds without saying a word. Then eventually they shared a look and a brief nod before dropping the hardened looks from their faces.
Seeing this confused me greatly.
"Well, son since you are resolute in your decision it looks like you are leaving your mother and I no other choice." My father said.
"Yes. It looks like we will have to start your training earlier than planned. Especially since you want to become a pro hunter." My mother said.
"Wait, what?" I questioned.
Since now I am even more confused than before.
"Back up. Training? What are you guys talking about?" I asked.
"Well the thing is son there are things you're mother and I haven't told you yet." My father said. "We wanted to wait until you were a bit older to do so but now I don't think we need to wait any longer, right dear?"
"Yes, you are right darling." My mother retorted to my father. "Especially since our little man wants to follow in our footsteps."
The moment my mother said that my eyes went wide in shock. "Wait. Mom, dad, are you guys....already pro hunters?" I asked.
When I did so both of my parents nodded without any hesitation. Then once they did both of them reached into their pockets and pulled out their hunter licenses for me to see.
Recognizing their designs from the anime I knew my parents weren't lying to me. Both of them are certified pro hunters.
Seeing this I am left speechless. Despite the fact I have so many questions I want to ask my parents right now.
When did they become pro hunters? What sort of adventures have they been on? Do they have stars? Can they teach me nen? Etc..
Although I can't really ask the last two questions without touching upon a subject that I will never do so willingly.
But back to my point.
My parents just got even cooler.
Looking at me my mother and father started grinning and laughing lightly. So I guess my face is clearly expressing my emotions right now.
"Surprised huh?" My mom asked me.
"Yes mom. And that's really an understatement." I told her. "This is just...well it's so unexpected I don't even know where to begin. Both of you are pro hunters."
"Yes." My father said. "This is not something we would ever lie to you about. One more thing your grandma is also a pro hunter as well." He told me.
Hearing my father reveal this information I got another shock to my system. Since it means he is a legacy hunter, and that also means being a pro hunter is basically in my blood.
This second life of mine just keeps getting better and better each day.
Still, getting so many revelations at once is making my head spin. So much so I moved my hands to my temple and started gently rubbing it.
"Dear, I think that's enough for now. Otherwise we might break Soren." My mom said.
"Yes Ana, I understand." My father responded. He then looked back at me. "Soren, how about we finish this conversation tomorrow?"
"Yes, I would like that." I said. "Excuse me."
I got up from the dining room table and my parents simply nodded as I did so. Going up to my room I closed the door behind me and went to lie down on my bed and then simply began staring at my bedroom ceiling.
"Pro hunters. I come from a family of pro hunters." I said to myself.
Which actually now that I am starting to think about it makes more and more sense.
I have never seen my parents go to work a day in their entire lives. Despite this we always have more than enough money, and we live in a nice three-story house located in a good residential area in a city known as Saintess Las.
Which is a city located on the eastern side of the Yorbian continent in the United States of Saherta. And from what I've been able to gather over the past few years Saintess Las is one of the premiere business and financial hubs on the entire continent. It is a city that is constantly growing and changing but also has a lot of history as well.
Also the neighborhood we live in seems pricey.
My parents are also knowledgeable and well-versed in several different subjects.
Then there is my grandmother.
Although we have only met a few times since I was born I immediately noticed how young she looks the moment I laid eyes on her.
At first I thought this was just because she gave birth to my dad when she was young, but now after the revelation of her and my parents all being pro hunters I know her youthful appearance is thanks to her knowing nen.
So yeah, everything is actually coming together.
"I come from a family of pro hunters." I muttered to myself once more.
After I did so I stood up and then put a bright smile on my face.
I then started jumping up and down and dancing around like an idiot without a care in the entire world.
Since now becoming a pro hunter is going to easier than ever for me.
And having coming to this realization I just can't contain my excitement.
Thus my happy dance right now.
