Chapter 95 - Forbidden Forest 03.

[Chapter Size: 2300 Words.]

Third Person POV

Hogwarts.

...

...

The battle continued illuminating the entire dark area of the forest as the fight stretched on for the next few hours. Severus adopted a "hit and run" strategy, fleeing and attacking from various angles as he moved toward areas with fewer spiders.

Lily only watched Severus from a distance, unable to see much. After all, he was so fast that she couldn't keep up with him, only seeing the explosions while the spiders moved together from one side to another, trying to kill him. She could only observe that chaotic swarm of spiders with a stunned expression.

What she was witnessing went beyond anything she could comprehend and shattered all the norms she had heard about for years. How could a wizard fight against an army of Acromantulas alone? Had she ever read about this in a book? It was even more unbelievable knowing that it was Snape himself fighting and managing to endure, leaving a pile of burnt corpses behind.

At first, she didn't even know why she was standing there. If she were sober, she would have already run over there, unable to believe what she was seeing. But there she stood, transfixed, watching a battle she would probably never witness again in her life.

And so the fight continued, with hours passing, and the night was approaching dawn. As time went on, Lily started becoming more aware of the situation, losing her drunkenness, and she couldn't be more frightened as she heard the explosions from the attacks.

Severus, in the midst of the fight, was in a frantic state, fighting the whole time. Any mistake could be fatal for him, calculating all his movements in the environment rapidly.

The damn spiders seemed to be smarter than he expected, as they were trying to catch him in the middle of his teleportations, changing their strategy as soon as they realized they would be eliminated if they continued the same way.

Even though they couldn't catch him, they kept throwing webs, trying to create a trap in which he could get stuck. However, Severus wasn't careless, thinking through each move quickly like a battle-hardened warrior who had faced numerous fights in his life beyond this world. He continued to reap their lives with fire magic or with the lightning blade made by cutting with his sword, while his level steadily increased as time went on. After hours of fighting, he finally reached level 40 and had already eliminated 200 spiders, with 800 more still trying to kill him.

Moving swiftly between the enemies, even in the middle of the fight, Severus opened the system and began adding more points to his stats, focusing on the physical lines, making his body stronger with each point, becoming faster and more agile to help him in this fight. His body was now so strong that it could be considered ten times stronger than when he had started at Hogwarts. His speed was like a flash, running from side to side, even without using teleportation to save magic. He danced between the enemies, eliminating them while their kind were slain, unable to react wherever Snape passed.

There were some even more powerful fire spells that would be very useful in that scenario, such as Fiendfyre, a spell that could sweep through an entire area. However, he had not yet mastered it, so he had to rely solely on his fireball.

[Congratulations, you have leveled up to 41!]

A system screen notified him of his new level as Snape felt excited about it, continuing the frantic fight.

Meanwhile, Rubeus Hagrid was having a good night's sleep when suddenly a loud knock came at his door, with his dog barking outside. He got up quickly, a bit startled, throwing on a jacket over his pajamas as he walked to the door, wondering who would be calling at this hour of the night. It was already three in the morning.

"Hagrid, are you there?" a deep voice called from the other side. He was surprised to see a centaur standing at his door.

"Has something gone wrong?" Hagrid asked suspiciously, since the centaur wasn't supposed to come here.

"Yes, there's a commotion happening in the Forbidden Forest. One of the Acromantula nests is in chaos, with the acromantulas all going wild. It seems like someone is attacking them, and a large fire is spreading through the forest... we need to help! We must alert the Headmaster," the centaur spoke with a slightly urgent tone.

"A fire in the Forbidden Forest... that's not right, that's not right!" Hagrid quickly nodded upon hearing this after raising his eyebrow, going off to pass the message to Albus since he couldn't leave the castle himself. The visitor returned to the Forbidden Forest, north of the school, and Hagrid headed straight to the main tower.

The centaurs were tense, trying to form some kind of barricade in the forest, still hearing the explosions in the distance but not knowing what was truly happening there. "Who could be facing more than a thousand acromantulas?" they wondered.

"Maybe it's the Juggernaut creature," one centaur suggested.

"Juggernaut is hundreds of years old. Why would it leave its territory now after staying there for thousands of years?" another centaur questioned.

"Even if we don't believe it, the mere possibility of that creature being out of its territory is frightening. It would put all the creatures of the forest in danger... and I doubt we'd survive if it wanted to kill us all..." the leader said.

"Let me go, sir! I want to see what's happening there!" a young centaur asked, wanting to prove his worth, while the leader observed.

"Alright, go check. But if you're in danger, come back immediately, understood? It's better to send just one, as it increases the chance of success just to observe..." the leader replied.

The centaur nodded and quickly began galloping toward the depths of the forest, where the fire was growing larger, with the entire nest being consumed along with other trees and explosions created by Snape. As he ran, he could see several animals fleeing in the opposite direction, from griffins to unicorns and all sorts of smaller magical creatures, all trying to escape what was happening. But strangely, the Thestrals stood still, watching everything from afar without moving, which made the centaur wonder why they behaved this way, but he didn't think much of it as he pressed forward.

Meanwhile, in the midst of it all, Snape had been fighting for over an hour and had already eliminated 400 spiders since the battle began. He had finally reached level 43 and was close to his goal.

"Good, but it's still not enough," he muttered, continuing to fight, aiming to reach level 45 by the end of it all.

"Fireball!" He moved his wand, launching another fireball that exploded in front of him. More webs came from all directions, and he dodged them skillfully, moving his body before transforming into a shadow. The giant spiders tried to grab him in every way, but he reappeared above them, beginning to cut them down with his electricity-wrapped sword.

Quickly, he stepped back as one spider charged toward him. Aware of everything around him, Snape swiftly spun and struck the blade against the spider's fangs as it tried to grab him. It attempted to shoot webs onto the sword and his hand, but he enveloped the blade in electricity, quickly freeing himself and slicing the creature's head off.

Then, he moved his feet precisely, vanishing amidst a new wave of attacks trying to capture him from all sides. Several spiders around the battlefield began trying to surround the area, preparing traps to pin him down by sending webs wildly. They would have the advantage if they managed to corner him. However, Snape knew how to handle it: he used his teleportation to escape the traps, even when he got caught in some webs, he easily freed himself. The fire spreading across the battlefield made it even harder for the spiders to advance, with the flames catching onto their own webs, trees, and burning everything on the ground, including their corpses.

In a final move, Snape reappeared atop the spiders, as the field was now filled with webs and flames. He began casting spells on waves of acromantulas, wiping out several at once while the system chimed: he had reached level 44.

He hadn't escaped unscathed after all these hours of fighting. Some acromantulas had managed to reach him, leaving him with injuries on parts of his body, and his clothes were a bit torn, but nothing that would stop him from continuing.

From a distance, Lily watched in shock as the flames burned everything around. Even the young centaur, watching from afar, was stunned to see the fire falling from the sky while the spiders tried to climb the trees to escape whoever was creating it, making their movements futile.

It was only after half an hour that Snape began to notice that the creatures had finally given up, as most of their group had been defeated. After Snape killed more than 650 of them, and with only about a third remaining, they grew frightened and began to flee, leaving behind only the burning forest, which was consuming the entire area as it dissipated.

With that, Snape sighed, a bit tired, in the midst of the flames. The young centaur watched him from a distance, trying to see who was responsible for this destruction and the piles of bodies now burning. Before the centaur could react, Snape disappeared and reappeared beside him, delivering a blow to the back of his neck, causing him to fall unconscious. After all, Snape didn't want him to carry any information about him if he had seen anything.

"It's over..." he said finally.

Lily, who had been hiding the entire time, finally saw that the fight was over too and decided to step out from behind the barrier Snape had created. She tried to walk toward the battlefield, but as soon as she crossed a tree, someone appeared in front of her, surprising her.

"I found a little rat!" shouted the older woman, covered in wounds, who was the witch of this place. Lily quickly grabbed her wand, but she was disarmed by the witch's spell in an instant.

"You came out, little rat?!" the witch muttered as she approached Lily, who was frightened by this, paralyzing her with a spell before getting closer.

The witch had woken up some time ago and had only seen Snape killing all her acromantulas. Of course, she was scared, but she couldn't do anything against him after he had nearly killed her. This lasted until she found Lily, hidden behind a barrier, using her magical abilities to discover the girl's location once she sensed something was wrong. Like it or not, she was a centuries-old witch, like Albus Dumbledore.

"Finally, I've got you... I'll get my revenge on that bastard through you!" the witch said, blood still dripping from her mouth.

In the next moment, Snape reappeared in front of them. Seeing the pendant that Lily had glow and send a warning to him, Severus couldn't help but frown. Although he had been careful to ensure that no spiders got near that area, it seemed he had made a mistake by underestimating that woman, believing he had killed her.

"I admit, I should have died in that attack, damn child. But I have some... tricks up my sleeve that protected me..." the witch began to speak, showing her missing teeth with hatred in her eyes. "I know I'm going to die because of you... but before that, I want to see your agony, watching this girl die right here, in front of you. So watch!" she declared, filled with vengeance, without even trying to negotiate her own life. After all, she had no chance against Snape after what she had seen him do.

However, before she could complete her point-blank spell on Lily, something came down from above her, unnoticed. A sword—the same one Snape had used throughout the entire battle—he had positioned it in the air before teleporting to the ground without the witch noticing. The blade came down at high speed and lodged into her shoulder, causing the witch to scream in agony.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!" She fell to one side, and Lily to the other, losing movement in her hand and dropping her wand. Her scream was much louder than when Snape had broken her arm with a stone.

"I took care to have this sword ready..." Snape said calmly as the witch screamed. "I used simple magic, just needed an opportunity to catch you somehow without you noticing..."

The witch began writhing, trying to move her arm, but without success. Snape approached, pointing his wand. "Well, now you're not going anywhere," Severus said coldly.

Lily, regaining her movement, saw Severus simply pointing his wand before firing point-blank at the strange woman, making her head explode. He looked to the side and saw Lily, who stood paralyzed, horrified by the scene.

Snape sighed. "You weren't supposed to see that, but I had to get rid of this pest once and for all. Anyway, we'd better get back to the school. This place will be swarming with Aurors soon..." he said calmly, picking up his sword and Lily, as he sensed the spatial distortions at that moment.

But Snape and Lily disappeared, not heading directly to the castle, but moving toward one of the forest's edges.
