Cade kept his eyes flickering around anxiously. His lips pressed in a tight line as the horses passed dangerously close, their hooves threshing on the ground covered in snow. He shielded the boys at the center of their group, fearing they might get trampled.
"Keep moving, don't look back!" he yelled.
When the feral growls behind them intensified, Mikael could not resist the urge to steal a glance over his shoulder. Instantly, his breath caught in his throat when saw the beast closing in on them at an alarming speed. Its black coat stood out eerily against the white snow.
