The Man Outside - Ep 3

Ken lay baffled on his bed, he still couldn't get the hang of the situation. He lay there staring at the status window.

'Is this like a game now?! It said I was the first player, also mentioned something about me activating the game too soon? so did I trigger this outbreak? Damn it! I don't know what to do!'

All those thoughts kept orbiting Ken's mind. He truly didn't know what to do! If he confronted someone about the situation they would think Ken had finally gone mad by playing games so constantly.. He became frustrated thinking about all the questions he didn't have answers to..

"Ahh! There's so much I don't know!! But I don't think I have much time to worry about this right now.."

He got up from his bed and put on his slippers. He was very sweaty and smelled like crap, so Ken decided he would take a quick bath and started strolling toward his bathroom. The hot water was already set, so all Ken had to do was hop in the tub.

'I should be planning what to do next... If the apocalypse has finally started, I'll have to start preparing now!'

He had played post-apocalyptic games and read web novels enough to know that staying in the same place wasn't a good option as the place would soon be swarmed by zombies.... And more so when the apocalypse was coming about in a world where the people would soon get their systems and dungeons would start appearing out of nowhere..

'Huushh! (Sigh).. Well, the outbreak has started in the city, we should be safe for now, hahaha.. It should at least take 3 -7 days for the zombies to come here, so I guess I have some time..' Ken tried to put himself at ease..

While on his way to the bathroom, one of Ken's slippers suddenly gave in and broke..

"AHH!... HOW?... UGH! My head! UAGH! It hurts....."

Ken fell, the floor was covered by a liquid that had a crimson-red color.. Near lay Ken grabbing his head and trying to grasp what happened..

"Hey! Ken you okay?! I heard your voice from upstairs??" Ken's mother called out from downstairs.

"Y-yes! Mo...Mom i-i am okay! I just dropped my water bottle! So.....d-don't worry!"

"Gosh! Are you still worried about the virus thing, I said we were safe so don't worry! Ken, do you need help with anything?"

"No ....I'm..o-okay mom"

"Okay sure then"

Ken knew his mom didn't understand the depth of the situation. Ken too knew that it would take some time for the virus to reach where he lived but it was still too dangerous to be at ease..

Ken tried to get up, but he couldn't..... his head was spinning wild! Ken somehow managed to get up and he started to step toward the First-aid box in the bathroom... He wasn't able walk properly and was brought to the floor again...

But suddenly a text appeared in front of his eyes

" [TUTORIAL

BODY HURT

INJURY- NOT FATAL (CAN BE HEALED)

USE SKILL- INSTANT HEAL Lv.1] "

'OH Right! I'm a healer, right? So will I be able to heal myself!!.. But how do I use my skill?!'

Ken tried saying "instant heal" out loud pointing at his injury but it didn't work..

"This is nuts! How do I use my skills?!"

" [tutorial:-

To use mana-related skills the user must feel the sensation of mana flowing through his body and after doing that the user must imagine the flow is being directed toward his palms, then while the wand or hand is pointing at the target, the user now can cast the spell by thinking about the spell's name or saying it out loud.] "

"Wow, so much hassle, just to cast a simple spell sigh!"

Ken now tried to cast a spell by following the instructions given by the system. Though they looked tough to follow he decided he would give it try..

'The first step was to feel the mana flowing throughout the body, right? Okay, I'll try it, seems easy enough.'

He closed his eyes and tried to feel the mana throughout his body..

'Soo? am I feeling it yet? wait.....! how do I know I'm feeling the mana?!'

he still tried to do meditation for some time, but he still couldn't get the hang of it.. by this time his body had lost a lot of blood and his vision started to go blurry.

Eventually, He could see nothing but darkness, he felt as if his soul was trapped in a void of nothingness, it almost felt like another realm.

Ken's mind now was in a state of mind that was neither conscious nor unconscious, he was somewhere in between, in the shallow dark void.

But even after losing some of his

consciousness, Ken was still somehow focused on flowing the mana through his body.

Suddenly!... the void of nothingness that he had been staring at, appeared a green ray light that commenced toward Ken and started to wrap his body,

"What's happening?! Where AM I??!!" he started panicking....

"What is this green LIGHT??!! I CAN'T MOVE!!"

Suddenly the darkness vanished and a bright light flashed in front of Ken's eyes.

It felt as if Ken's consciousness started to return...

As he woke up, he realized he had been passed out on the floor for quite some time, he put his hands on the floor and tried to stand back up but Ken Ken fell right away.

He felt very weak, he thought it was because of his injury..

'I lost a lot of blood, no wonder I feel weak....and I still can't use my skills!'

It seems Ken somehow doesn't remember the void-like realm he went to, or anything related to that.

As Ken somehow stood up he started walking toward the bathroom mirror to check his injury. His eyes widened.

"what the hell?! Where's the wound?! I remember seeing a deep cut right there!!"

Ken was shocked!

"Wait!! don't tell me the spell worked?!? How?!

I am a genius! But how did I even cast the skill?!.. Well, I guess I'll check it out later.."

Ken started walking towards the tub, he heard a scream..

"Ahhh!!"

'What the hell?! What happened again?!' Ken thought.

It was undoubtedly Ken's mother's scream.

Without a second thought, he started heading downstairs. He thought that his mother probably saw a rat and got scared, Ken's mother was very afraid of rats.

A few months ago,

Ken's mother saw a Rat in the kitchen and almost fainted. She was scared to enter the Kitchen for the next week. She had "Musophobia", A phobia that made patients fear mice or rats! Pretty awful right?..

Ken came downstairs and called out his mother right after.

"Mom?! What ha-"

And then Ken saw his mother's face, His mother looked Pale as if she had seen the depths of the Abyss and what lies inside, Ken's Mother didn't even realize Ken was right next to her, she kept staring out the window...

"Mom?"

She didn't reply...

"MOM?!"

"Y- Y-Yes? Ken?!" she came back to her senses.

"What happened? Mom?"

"What are you doing here?! Go Back To Your Room NOW!! Don't come out of your room! I'll call the police!! Now Go!!"

Ken's Mom looked terrified. Ken had to know what happened, he knew even if she called the police, they wouldn't come.. Ken held his mother's hands firmly ;) and tried to calm her down ..

"what happened? Tell me, mom."

Asked Ken firmly..

"I... I think there's a person who is trying to b... Break into our house!! (sob)... But (sob) he.. h... he had a knife stabbed on his ch.. Chest (sob).. He was still WALKING!! He kept banging on the backdoor door!! I was terrified!!"

Ken hugged his mother and tried to console her..

"It's okay mom, it's okay"

Ken had a bad feeling about the whole situation..

'what is mom even talking about?! A man who was stabbed in his chest! But..'

"Mom! Tell me where is the person you are talking about?" Ken asked..

"last time I saw him roaming near the gar- wait!! You are not thinking of going outside are you??!!!"

"I'll just go and check it out, I'll be okay, trust me, I'm not the old me.." Said Ken firmly.

"But!!" She didn't get to complete it and was interrupted.

"You go and rest in your room mom, don't worry, I'll handle it.." Ken didn't want his mother harmed.

After escorting his mother to her room. He put her to sleep and locked her room from outside.

Ken started heading toward the backdoor.

He put his hand on the handle...

'I should take my bat with me at least he went to his room and grabbed his baseball bat

He then again went near the backdoor and this time finally opened it.

The moment he opened the door he was ambushed! Ken fell to the and was pinned on the ground by the person.

It seems the person was somehow hiding near the backdoor and was waiting for someone to come out....

"Grrr... GRRR!!!"

After Ken's eyes met the man's, his eyes widened...

'What?! How?!'
