Lily did not mince her words at the duke. She knew that he was not oblivious to the duchess' love for the child in her belly and yet he had to say something that made her emotionally unstable.
When a woman is pregnant, her emotions are more intense than normal. Anything can make her angry, happy or sad. Lily has been observing the duchess since she came to the hayes duchy. The duchess was the first woman whom she had seen to be so calm during her pregnancy. The baron also said so as he did not expect her to be this calm, especially with what had been happening in the duchy.
Maybe the situation forced her to deeply control her emotions, Lily thought. But watching the duchess smile from time to time, especially because of the unborn child, made her less worried. At least, it was better than an unstable emotional duchess.
But this duke had to do something, and now, the child is in danger.
