Chapter 17: Failed mission

Nakir was becoming restless and very concerned for laura. It has been days since she left for segund. He hoped she is safe.

He was very sure that she has life in her,but why has she not come back to hills.

"Where could she be? He asked himself.

He waits outside the cave every now and then in hope that she would pop out of somewhere.

Nakir could not abandon his duty.

He could not wander off when he had agreed that the army be removed.He released a heavy sigh.

"God forbid me to forsake my duty and my pledge. He said to himself. He could not afford to,not in this time.

Sirocco is out there, perhaps he may come around if I leave.

"No,I will wait for laura".

He could feel nadin's body improve everyday. His cells were beginning to function well,his deformed body is improving day and night.

Nakir could feel it.

He would not be able to inhabit this body again,for it improves faster than he expected.

He needs his body,he needs to get back inside his body before he vanishes into thin air.

Anything can happen now. He thought.

He is uncertain of how things may turn out,he started making plans. Plan A will work and if not plan A, plan B will work and if not plan B, plan C will work.

"Oh,I could not possibly go down in flames like that. Something will surely work.he said to himself.

Nakir noticed a movement in the bush. His eyes, wide open and his hands ready to attack. Come what may,he is always ready to attack. He noticed the womanly figure.

The clouds obscured the moon,so he could barely see her face as she approached him.

Nakir made a little bright green fire come out from his left palm.

"It is me. Laura. She said.

He could see her face now.

"What have you come with laura". He asked. His eyes searched her as he could not notice any of the prince belonging.

He was expecting the prince royal bead or his cloak, just something bold and of less importance. Lest the whole of segund come after laura... He thought.

She noticed the shock in his eyes.

"You brought the belonging of the first prince. This can make the whole of segund come after you". Said nakir.

She brought the royal ring. why?He thought.

"Did he give you this ring?" He asked.

"Yes,he did gave this ring to me. Forgive me,I did not intend to cause any harm. I already compelled him to forget everything". She said innocently.

"I do not hold anything against you. I understand that you do not know the importance of this ring. He said reasonably.

No time to waste. No opportunity will pass". He said almost in a whisper. She did not hear it.

He studied the ring.

Many tales about this small object. Without this ring the first prince cannot be crowned. So much value and importance placed on this ring and he randomly gave it to laura. He literally gave her the throne. He gave her his destiny.

What a woman can do to a man.

Perhaps laura had commanded him with power for he knew that the measure of the power he put in her was great.

She used it to her advantage. Smarts. He thought.

He started chanting not bothered of laura's presence because she would not even remember any of this.

"You shall bring with you my body. Take this purse and put the ring inside".

Laura nodded without saying a word. She turned to leave.

The night was very dark now. She could barely see everything on the ground as she moved further her leg hit a sharp rock.

The ring jumped out of the purse as if to escape, unknown to her. She was concerned for her leg.

Nakir rushed to help her. But lucky for her,she didn't sustain any injury.

"Thank you". She said to nakir. "I will leave now. He watched her for a while and later he went inside the cave.
