"Why are the two of you here?" Questioned Helen seeing the two men from yesterday. "Are you two stalking me?" It was a little bit suspicious to see them the day after the accident. Did Eli King still think she was at fault? She wasn't!
"Not at all. This is just one big coincidence," Noah denied the stalking claim which wasn't true. They were just here for business today and imagine his surprise when he found out the woman from yesterday was the owner of this building and the land. Fate sure was working hard to possibly bring two people together. "We're here to discuss something with you, Miss Helen Reed. It has nothing to do with what happened yesterday," He sorta shared the reason for them being there.
"What exactly? Wait a minute. Let's not be rude, you know my name but I don't know your name," Helen said wanting an introduction. She knew his boss's name was Eli King but he still needed to introduce himself on his own. Plus she didn't know the name of the man who worked for Eli. It seemed like the two of them must've done a bit of research on her to know her name.
"Right, my name is Noah Conway and this is my boss Eli King. I'm his assistant, sometimes his driver, and unfortunately a full-time friend to Eli," Noah made the introduction for both him and Eli. He was Eli's servant before becoming his friend in the good ole days.
"You poor soul," Helen said, saddened by the thought of having to be friends with Eli King. She hoped Noah was paid enough for what he had to deal with.
"Thank you. You're the first person to ever feel bad for me being friends with him. They all think it's a blessing." It was nice to have someone acknowledge how tiring his life must be.
A quick glare at Noah for his comments, Eli focused his attention back on Helen. "Nice to meet the person who bought the land which was supposed to belong to me," Eli said with his hands in his pockets, examining the building. His black coat draped over his shoulders as if he were modeling it. He gave her credit for building a good-looking restaurant. Was she a chef or just the owner?
Isabelle was right. He sure was fine with his chiseled jaw and-wait. "What do you mean the land which was supposed to belong to you? I bought this land two years ago so it's mine. Anyone who says otherwise could step off of it or I'll take them to court. Problem solved?" She asked, looking between the two gentlemen.
"Not exactly. Sell me the land," Eli responded.
Helen took a deep breath clenching her fists. There was a tiny urge to just hit him. "Don't you see the thing that's on the land called a building? My restaurant is opening soon and I have no time to be thinking about selling land to you. Good day sir," She bid goodbye walking up the stairs to enter her building. Hopefully, they would leave the premises right away but she just had a feeling they wouldn't.
"Good morning boss," greeted Cody Warner, one of her three waiters. He was a young boy with blond hair and blue eyes who just turned twenty-two with his twin brother Jacob who worked in the kitchen as a chef.
"Good morning. How is everything going so far?" She questioned taking a look around. Most of the decor was already placed where it should be.
For the most part, the restaurant looked just like she envisioned it to be. Helen wasn't a cook and had no background with food other than eating but she believed she didn't need to be an expert in food to go into that business. All you needed was money and to find a person who had the talent for the business. She wouldn't just stop with a restaurant though. Helen had plans to go into many different business sectors in the future. This was just the beginning.
"We're doing a bit of cleaning up, Sasha is making sure everything is stocked up and Marc just arrived moments before you," Cody said, giving her the full run down. "We're on track for the opening."
Helen was glad to hear everything was going as planned. "Great but don't worry about cleaning too much. I'm calling a cleaning company to clean up the mess when the workers outside are done. Just focus on what you need to be doing. Have you finished reading all the things you should and should not do as a waiter?"
"All done!" Cody beamed excitedly like a little puppy. Feeling a weird vibe in the room he looked to the entrance and saw two men. "Boss."
Helen looked to the door and saw it was Eli and Noah again. "Just ignore them," She started walking away once more. Why couldn't they just do as she asked and leave? Why was that so hard? He's here to annoy her again, isn't he?
Keeping his eyes on the two visitors, Cody's face darkened as they approached him. He growled when he recognized what this man was.
"Mutt," Eli commented walking by. He knew he smelled a dog when he arrived.
"Bloodsucker," Cody retorted, watching Eli's every movement. What was a vampire doing here and why were they following his boss? Had she found herself in trouble? No! He didn't want anything to happen to her. She was kind enough to take in him and his brother who needed work. Cody felt the need to protect her from any creature who walked through those doors.
"We weren't finished talking," Eli told Helen, walking up to her and ignoring the werewolf who wanted to pounce on him but couldn't do so because there were humans around.
"Really? I thought when I walked away I had ended the conversation but it seems everyone can't take a hint. Cody, stop glaring at our unwanted guest," She warned Cody when she saw him glaring at Eli. At least she wasn't the only person who wasn't a fan of Eli.
Not too long after Cody's brother, Jacob Warner came out of the kitchen area after smelling vampires in the building. Noticing how close they were to their boss, he angrily stomped over the men but was made to stand down by his brother.
"If you do this our boss will be involved in this. You don't want to put her in danger," Cody whispered. He needed his brother to calm down right this instant. If Jacob picks a fight with them, they'll expose the truth of their world to humans right in front of those vampires. It might result in the bloodsuckers wanting to take her away for knowing something she shouldn't. It was best to watch at the side and let their boss handle whatever she needed to.
"Fine," Jacob growled, backing down. Being a werewolf it was a natural instinct for him to want to tear them apart. There was an ongoing feud between wolves and vampires for thousands of years. It didn't stop just because the world had changed to something different.
"It seems like I'm not welcomed here by your employees either," Eli said, feeling the tension from the two men behind him. It was unexpected to come across two werewolves here today but then again some creatures worked simple jobs like humans. They hadn't accumulated wealth over the years as other creatures did. A shame.
"I'm happy I'm not the only one who finds you annoying. This could be an eye-opener for you to change your personality. But that's a conversation for therapists and not me. Let's just get this over with. I am not selling this land to you right now or any day in the unforeseeable future. Find someone else to annoy and leave me be," Helen begged suddenly feeling the urge to stomp her feet on the ground and whine like a child.
She was tired of talking to him especially when there was so much on her mind with this restaurant."You clearly see I just renovated this building so what makes you think I would sell the land? You're not as smart as everyone makes you out to be."
Smiling Eli said, "You searched me up?"
"Of course not, don't flatter yourself. My friend lives on social media and your name came up. Simple as that. Why are you dragging out another conversation?"
"I just want to buy the land and you can keep your building here for as long as you want. I could set up a contract which benefits the both of us," Eli declared.
"What's so good about this land?" Helen questioned his motives. There had to be something more than just wanting to buy the land and not building something on it. She squinted her eyes suspicious of him. "Is there gold on this land?"
Eli chuckled at her conclusion. As if there were gold under here and he would let someone build something over it. "No."
"Oil?" Helen questioned again but knew she would've found out long before if the land had oil. She probably wouldn't have been able to buy it.
"No. How about I tell you over dinner?" He insisted on wanting to see her again after today. Eli ignored Noah choking on an imaginary spit. "What do you say?"
"What the hell," Helen answered, not expecting him to ask her out. Was something wrong with him?
