Chapter 21

Isabelle couldn't find the perfect description of how weird this was but weird people needed love too right? As long as Helen was satisfied with the strange things she did with Eli, then it wasn't Isabelle's business to comment on any more. She'll just sit on the sidelines and observe how much more stranger it could become.

This date was the opposite of what she envisioned. Tv shows, books, comics, and more really gave you the wrong image of what to expect.

"Is Eli going to be your date tomorrow? Would that count to two dates being completed or does he have to set the dates for it to count?" Isabelle wondered out loud in an attempt to change the subject. Their entire situation was nothing but confusion.

"I thought about it but I don't feel like I might do it. I just met him and it's not like I'm in desperate need of having a date by my side for the opening. If I hadn't met him I would've gone to the opening solo," stated Helen, paying attention to what everyone else was doing while she sat and chatted with Isabelle.

"Actually, I had plans to set you up with someone if you were going solo. It wouldn't hurt for you to have some arm candy to show off. Men do it all the time," Isabelle added to her reasoning for inviting Eli. "You've got nothing to lose by inviting him except one of those two remaining dates. Unless you don't want those dates to fly by quickly," She accused Helen.

Helen side-eyed Isabelle's accusation. What part of her not looking for a serious relationship did they not understand? She didn't have those types of feelings for Eli and a part of her still disliked him. She only knew the man for two days. Who could catch such feelings for someone after two days? Helen was not in a rush to find the perfect man to settle down with like her comrades.

Just the thought of her seriously liking Eli sent chills throughout her body. The thought of them being married as Isabelle claimed would make her pass out. Why couldn't you just be around someone and not have to hear the talk of settling down and having kids? It was super annoying to have her life reduced to this.

"Bella, you know I'm not the type to fall for a man so quickly. Besides, just last night you were worried about how the date would go and now you're as you would say, shipping us. That's even weirder," Helen mentioned, recalling how worried Isabelle was last night.

"That's true but this just screams a web novel plot and I can enjoy it now that I don't have to worry about what kind of person he is. Do you know how exciting this is to have something like this play out before my very own eyes?"

Helen wondered if she threw one of the books Isabelle was constantly reading at her head then maybe she would wake up from all these internet fantasies. 'No,' she thought, clearing the idea from her mind. Assault was not a pretty charge and she would never want to hurt Isabelle.

It would be a completely different story if her hand moves on its own and threw the book.

"I can only imagine it's quite the entertainment viewing my love life like this. Is there anything else I could do for you to tickle your panties?" Helen questioned feeling the excitement practically radiate from Isabelle. She should really focus on her own love life. How was it the most romance-driven person in her group of friends was single?

This tiny moment with Helen and Eli was giving Isabelle too much life. She knew once she sees Julie and Jennifer tomorrow it would be two times worse. Should she block all three of them till her time with Eli was over? It wasn't like she hadn't blocked them before. If only they didn't know where she lived. Could she secretly move out of her apartment? No, Isabelle and Julie were there too much.

Sometimes it felt like she had two roommates living off her for free. Helen enjoyed their company when she wasn't involved with someone. They both acted like two kids filled with candy when one of their friends got into a relationship.

Friendships were strange how opposite people could connect with each other. When it came to romance Helen was not like Julie nor Isabelle. She'd hate to admit it but relationships were similar to Jennifers. The thought alone made her shiver.

"Bring Eli tomorrow so I can grill him about hurting you in the unforeseeable future. I can get really violent if I ever need to," Isabelle said balling up her fist like an evil villain ready to fight and take out all the superheroes.

This was comical for Helen given the fact that Isabelle couldn't properly hurt a fly. Literally. The girl broke her arm when she attempted to kill a fly because she slipped on a completely dry floor. Fly one, Isabelle zero.

"Fine, I'll invite him," Helen agreed to the idea of having Eli by her side tomorrow. However, this wouldn't count as one of the two remaining dates as she set this up herself. She wanted to see what Eli had planned for the other two.

"Do it now! I really need to find something else do with my life," Isabelle admitted feeling slightly shameful but the feeling went away once she saw Helen take out her cell phone to call Eli. The excitement was there again, screw the shame. She sat happily like a child wanting a treat for doing good from their parent. She was barely able to remain still in her seat.

After three rings Eli picked up though Helen was secretly wishing he wouldn't. To hell with people who sat so near to their phones. Why couldn't he in a meeting or something dammit.

"Hello," His smooth sultry voice answered the call. "Did you enjoy the gift? I have bottled mine so I can look back at it in the future."

"Surprisingly, I did. All of a sudden you're a joker when I'm not close by but good to know you enjoyed my gift also. Listen," She said getting up from her seat to move away from Isabelle. As much as she loved Isabelle, some conversations weren't meant to be heard by others.

Isabelle's shoulders slumped when she got up. Helen unapologetically smiled giving her the peace sign.

"My grand opening will be will be tomorrow afternoon and I think it's common courtesy that I should invite you."

"For food?" Asked Eli sarcastically.

Helen bit her lip refraining from commenting on his little joke. He knew that wasn't what she called him for. He just wanted to hear it from her mouth. "You can eat too but I'm inviting you as my date."

"Really?" He answered acting surprised to get her riled up. He could picture her turning a shade of red from anger. "A personal invite from the owner, I must be special. What time should I pick you up?"

"I invited countless people personally, don't feel so special or you'll be severely disappointed. You don't have to pick me up because I'll be here long before opening time. You can arrive around two."

"I will see you tomorrow."

"Well, goodbye. Enjoy the rest of your day," She bid farewell and pressed out the phone when he also told her goodbye. Helen went back to Isabelle and said, "He'll be there tomorrow."

Isabelle squealed waving her arms in the air with excitement. She hoped tomorrow would come in the blink of an eye.
