Ch-15
Next day…
Laya heard from her Sharada that there was a Lord Shiva temple and has to go there to give offerings. Now She had to get ready for it. She wore red a saree and got ready to leave along with her sister-in-law and her brother after they got ready. She doesn't want to take help from anyone… so she tried to drape the saree with a YouTube Video. She couldn't fold the pleats of her frill properly so… she just pinned her frill without folding the pleats to her blouse. She decided to learn how to fold the pleats of her saree frill properly when she gets time this evening.
They decided to go to the temple at 8 A.M. And just to drape this saree, she got up early. She saw her mother coming towards her… which brought a headache to her. Last night… her mother woke her from her sleep just to tell her she should go to the temple in the morning which ruined her sleep. Laya was so frustrated to the point she wanted to curse her mother that all her rubber bands would disappear for the next coming twenty-four hours. But sadly, she couldn't do it.
Sharada came and stopped herself in front of Laya with a worried expression. "What happened, mom?" She asked, putting her grievances aside.
"We booked sixty rooms in the hotel for the groom and bride. But now they are saying they could only give fifty rooms to us as there was a political meeting going on here. Your Mother-in-law said that they would take thirty rooms for sure and if needed they want five more rooms extra. If that happens our relatives would be displeased and they were already displeased over the fact that so much money was spent on your wedding. We tried to look for the nearest hotel but… the nearest one was two kilometers away. The complete groom's family would come by evening. What shall we do? Your father went to the wedding venue to check things. Your brother, Arjun is sleeping like a log, and your brother, Abhinav, is trying to talk with the hotel management. But they aren't budging! What shall we do? And on top of that... Your future mother-in-law called and said they need 1o extra rooms as the relative's headcount increased this morning!" Sharada was scared now.
"When did the manager say this to us?" Laya asked with her furrowed brows.
"An hour ago," Sharada said.
"I will talk with them," Laya said as she held her forehead. She was sure she would end up getting a headache tonight.
Laya walked to Manager's office and saw her little brother was already talking.
"Sir… Just because some politicians said you canceled our bookings? How could you do this?" Laya asked feeling frustrated.
"Miss. Pasupuleti, we have no choice. We cannot afford to offend politicians to run our business. And the politicians asked two hours ago about this accommodation. Even we are helpless. Before we could reject them, they were already in the hotel. We have no choice but to invite them. And the people who came here are the Central Minister and the people who support them.
"Miss. Pasupuleti, as compensation, we will take money only for the forty-five rooms and we will give five rooms for free," The manager said as if it were the best deal.
"Sir, how could you speak like this? We are never short of money. We asked for sixty-five rooms at the start but you said only sixty rooms are available. So we adjusted ourselves to it. And again, you are saying you are cutting down ten more rooms. How could we adjust? Either arrange ten more rooms for us or we will leave right away!" Laya said feeling frustrated with every passing second.
"Laya!!" Sharada's voice could be heard.
"We can't find a hotel with so many rooms right now! It would be troublesome!" Sharada whispered-yelled at her daughter. Laya won't get angry normally but if she gets angry then no one can stop her.
"I will handle it," Laya said assumingly.
"But Laya…" Sharada started.
"Can you make my mother-in-law get adjusted like this? Will she agree to it? And I am in no mood to deal with my greasy relatives," Laya said.
"But that's not the thing, Beta. The thing is…" Before she could say something Laya stopped her.
"Maa, if I don't find the perfect hotel for us with the best conditions by evening. We will stay here and convince our relatives to adjust themselves for the groom's side despite their complaints. Okay?" Laya said.
"But don't mess things up," Sharada said.
"Inform brother and father about this," Laya said. Sharada nodded and left.
Because of Sharada's interruption, the manager went out and started calling someone. She doesn't know what he was doing.
"Abhinav…" she called out.
"Elder Sister …" he responded.
"Show me the receipt of the amount we paid to the hotel," she asked.
Laya saw they paid three lakhs in advance and they have to pay another fifteen lakhs after their stay here, which was a week's stay of theirs. She didn't find it surprising as they have booked sixty rooms. Since they were cutting down ten rooms and were saying they would give five rooms for free a lot of costs would be saved. But here… she can't be a miser with how her mother-in-law was acting. Maybe her father-in-law would understand but not her mother-in-law.
She just hopes that this issue will be resolved soon. But it just happened that her brothers found this hotel after long research… finding another hotel with these facilities was kind of hard. She sat holding her head in pain.
"Laya…" Arjun's voice could be heard.
"Eldest Brother," she responded.
"I will handle it. Go have food," he said.
"I will stay here till this thing is resolved." She said with a determined expression.
He nodded knowing that he couldn't persuade her.
"Sir," The manager came and interrupted them with a worried expression on his face.
"We can give you ten more rooms but not the same level rooms. They are a little less luxurious than previous rooms," he said with a nervous expression.
Arjun felt troubled by his words but he had no choice but to think it over. After thinking for a few minutes, he went out to call Raghuram Pasupuleti, who is his father, to inform the situation.
