Levi was a light sleeper. Waking him up was easy. Jasmine sat on the chair, gently caressing his hair. She called to him lovingly, vowing to give him as much love as she could master.
At one point in life, he had acted as the father she never knew. Comforted her and provided the warmth akin to a mother hen. He protected her and provided a safe space for her to be vulnerable.
Now that he needed her, she was going to be all that for him. Being a mother showed her a new side of the world. One where she placed her needs secondary while catering to her family's needs.
Levi opened his eyes with great difficulty. The delicious aroma floating around made his stomach growl. It was the only reminder that he hadn't eaten solid food in a while.
With the help of Jasmine, he cleaned up and sat at the table. Despite the churning in his stomach at the sight of food, he managed to stomach a little.
