The gun fired in his hand, blasting the air with a pink beam of light before dying down, just missing the mohawk head of a six-foot-tall monkey. A black-haired monster with beady milky white eyes and massive ears took a step closer, ignorant of the beam that passed overhead before lifting its large hands with sausage-like fingers. Its lips parted, revealing yellow canine's nearly four inches long bared at him.
It turned its head, searching for him with its massive ears in the cave's darkness. Then, as the beam died down, darkness swallowed up the monkey.
Silas pulled the trigger against aiming higher, and the monkey was closer, its hands reaching out to grab. He felt his heart race and moved without thinking.
After reincarnating, he gained the body of a prince that was in relatively good shape. While he would have preferred a gym bro with a mountain of muscle, he was strong enough. That is strong enough only applied to humans.
The six-foot-tall monkey in front of him probably weighed at least 180 lbs and could probably bench press a car. However, those thoughts took a back seat to the pants-shitting fear of seeing something like that in a dark cave where the only light came from a gun that arouses things.
While he didn't want to see what something like that monkey could do when angry, he also didn't want to see what it could do when aroused. By those big ears, any sudden moves would get the monkey's attention, and running away probably wasn't an option.
Unlike in RPGs, strength equaled speed, so it was probably much faster than him, meaning that running away from it in the dark wasn't an option. On the other hand, it probably knew the cave like the back of its hand.
By mushroom Jesus, this was the monkey's home, and he landed in it. So why wouldn't the monkey investigate?
None of that changed the fact that Silas was pants-shitting, terrified, and holding the butt of his rifle toward the monkey's neck. His body shook, almost frozen in fear as he lunged forward. Silas hit the monkey in the throat with everything he had, putting all his weight behind the blow
It was a bad idea, only overshadowed by so many worse ideas. Jets of pink light filled the cave as the gun went off while he beat the choking monkey in the face while it struggled. He saw its balls, stomped down hard on them with his worn leather boots, and felt them pop under the heel. The monkey tried to cry out, but the initial blow to its neck turned the cry into a gargling sound as Silas smashed it in the face.
He jumped and slammed his heels on the monkey's face trying to crush its skull and put it out of its misery. Silas felt something slide beneath his heel and knew the monkey's fangs had cut through the heel of his boot. If those got in his skin, he would bleed out quickly.
With his leap, he felt something crack, and a flail from the monkey knocked him off. Then, he felt a hand grab his leg with crushing force and shot up to smash it with the butt of the gun. Silas slammed the gun into the monkey's arm and head repeatedly until the grip finally weakened.
When the monster finally stopped moving, his heart continued hammering in his chest. He shot off the arousal ray and saw no other monkeys heading in his direction. Some were on the cave walls listening with their big ears, but they didn't make a move yet. Instead, he heard quiet, throaty noises like some primitive form of communication. Silas fired again and found the monkeys lining the walls and several small dugouts.
From what he knew, falling into the cave, the entrance was the only way in or out, and hundreds of the six-foot-tall bastards lined the walls with their families.
Silas fired again, got a good look at the monkey, and noticed some things. The edges of its ears had been chewed nearly off, and several of its fingers were missing. Even its dick looked chewed on, but Silas wasn't getting close enough to investigate. While the monkey's fur had appeared coal black, there were patches of silver, and the monkey's face looked worn. He reasoned that it might have been old or sick and cast down to the cave floor.
In other words, he took out one of the weakest cave monkey he could have encountered.
He remembered that to activate the Apocalypse Body Refinement, he needed to recite the sutra after he defeated an enemy or spilled the enemy's blood. Fortunately, there was plenty of blood oozing out of the monkey's mouth to count.
Silas slowly whispered the words and saw something rise from the monkey before hovering over the corpse. Blood slowly floated up into the ball, and the corpse dried up. Then the orb took on a luminescent glow and hovered, waiting for him. Silas touched the orb and felt it slip into him.
A burning sensation like touching his eye with jalapeno juice on his hands started at his fingertips and moved all over his body. While at first it only touched his skin, burning enough to never want to try the body refinement again, it sank down into him. His muscles ached like he went through six hours at the gym and a duller ache filled his bones worse than growing pains. The feeling came in waves crashing through his body while the orb shrank until it was no more.
The pain didn't immediately go away either when he ran out of orb to absorb. Instead, his body continued to ache like he woke up after his first day of football practice. Moving his body was a chore, and his muscles didn't want to respond. That was when he felt a rumbling in his stomach and struggled to pull down his pants while puking his guts out.
…
While he wasn't proud of it, he used the monkey's fur to wipe his ass; it was the only way. He had finally stopped puking a few hours after the diarrhea ended, and he was starving. He needed food and clean water. Cramps wracked his body, and his muscles wouldn't stop spasming in intervals. If he had known the blood essence would do that, he would have searched for a different path to power.
Silas followed the instructions, but by mushroom Jesus, he paid for it. He shivered in his wet clothes. His adrenaline had fallen, and he couldn't get warm. The monkey's body was already cold, and Silas wanted to get warm. Starting a fire wasn't an option; the cave was soaked, the rain continued to fall, and the cave itself was beyond humid. Any spark he might manage wouldn't catch because the only kindling he could find was monkey shit and fur, which wasn't lighting up in the rain.
He fired a few more times lighting up the place before making his way deeper into the cave. Then, at the very least, he could get out of the rain, take off his clothes, and maybe stop shivering so much.
Silas was beyond hungry and thirsty. And he still had a Midroll and over 1000 Hentai Points to use on Low Gotcha Tokens.
He opened the menu, and his eyes didn't flinch from the light. That could mean the screen auto-adjusted to what his vision could handle, or the screens were wired into his head. So while he thought he was seeing them, they weren't there.
Silas bought 11 Low Gotcha Tokens and received a flash.
Would you like to roll 11 Tokens? By rolling 11 consecutive rolls, each roll receives a +1 bonus from the roll before ending in +10 for the final roll.
While he didn't know that was an option, it made getting 11 tokens of a kind before doing the roll more important. While stacking the roll might give better items, the consecutive rolls gave more options, which he needed.
He entered yes and watched the options for the low roll appear.

While he was thankful for all the food from his system, there were some issues, like not being a vampire. Blood Wine might be a fancy name for a type of red wine vampires enjoy, or it could be fermented blood. Silas wasn't about to crack open a barrel and find out. Dracula's wardrobe, on the other hand, wasn't too bad. Dracula had a great fashion sense in the movie from the 1992 movie. But if he was unlucky, he might have the more edgy version of Dracula's wardrobe. That meant fewer blues and greys and more black and edgy names for red.
Silas could probably pull off red, and if he's in the cave with only monkeys to judge him, did he really look like a dork. The answer to that was a definite maybe.
