"You're wearing that dress?!! With Combat boots?!" asked a shocked Sophie when she saw my Gothic princess gown and Docs on my feet.
"They're not combat boots! They're Doc Martens!" I explained for the millionth time.
"I don't see the difference!" Sophie exhaled exasperated.
"You can't really tell what shoes I'm wearing underneath this ton of chiffon." I made a pout with my red lips.
"Hummm, ok, stop it with the pout, you're killing me, people at Saint Francis are so not ready!" Sophie said looking just a little bit anguished .
"Well duh! It's still an all boys School! Of course they aren't ready for this Gothic Cinderella with black shiny Doc Martens!" my long wavy hair was shining, my make up was on point, black smudged over light green eyes, high cheekbones enhanced by a healthy pink glow, lips as red as ripe cherries, made me look like an exotic beauty, the tight black silk and lace bodice fit me like a glove, showing off curves I didn't know I had, the skirt was made of layered Chiffon in various shades of red and black, it was so voluminous I was afraid I would fall on my face with the weight, my Docs would keep me grounded, or so I hoped.
Sophie held a beautiful black Mask, "Look, it's OK to make some damage, but not to our reputations!! Got it!!?" Sophie mumbled more for her sake than mine.
"Yep, still wearing these, though!" I wiggled my Doc Martens clad foot much to Sophie's exasperation, her face was just too priceless.
"For me?" I asked pointing at the mask she had dangling in her hand.
Sophie nodded yes,"What do you think? I saw this and I just thought it was totally your style, also goes well with that Gothic look you got going."
"I love it!Thanks Sophs!" I hugged her as I took the mask , it was black velvet, the eyes surrounded by shiny glitz, a lace veil that would enhance my cheeks and give me an even more mysterious look.
I put my arm around Sophie's and almost dragged her to the front door, "Tonight's all about having fun, who knows, you might meet Prince charming!" I opened the door on what would become one of the most important nights of my life still unbeknownst to me.
