CHAPTER 6

NOAH'S POV

After talking to Edwin, I looked for Mikael to check on him but I didn't saw him. I looked around since supper is around the corner and I haven't seen him since he came from the hospital. Is he still sleeping in the room? The table is slowly being filled and I still can't see Mikael so I decided to go and look in the room.

I knocked on the door but no one is answering so I thought he's not there. I called him as I turned to walk to the dinner table but a faint ringing was heard from the room. I turned to open the room but it was locked. I continued to ring his phone but he's not answering. I'm getting nervous. I tried to ring him again while knocking on the door but still, he's not answering nor opening the door. I run towards the staff and asked for a duplicate key for the room. As soon as they gave me the key, I run as fast as I could to the room and opened the door.

Mikael is on the floor holding his bag. He might've tried to reach for his medicine but failed. I shake him calling out his name but he's not answering. I checked his breathing and it ain't good so I called Rez.

"Bruh, can you come inside our room but don't panic. Don't let them sense anything wrong." I said in between my panting

"The dinner is being served already. Join us after your agendas and don't work yourself out guys." Rez responded and it made me confused. I heard him excused himself and dropped the call. I hope he's coming. A few minutes later, Rez came in.

"Is he dead?" he asked nervously

"No dude. Help me get him to the hospital." I said and we took Mikael to the car and drove him to the hospital. Rez drove the car while I call Mikael's personal doctor. He needs to see him now.

"Mikael fainted and his breathing is not stable. We are rushing him now to the hospital so will video call you when we arrive." I said when the call connected. His doctor is based outside the country so video calling is the only thing we can do.

"I'll meet you there so send me the address. We're supposed to meet next week here but I came earlier because of other matters." he said then I dropped the call to send him the address immediately. Thank goodness he's around the country, I just hope he's near the area that he can come quickly.

We arrived at the hospital and I called for emergency help since he needs to be tend quickly. Rez explained Mikael's situation to the nurse and doctors while I stepped outside to answer Marcus's call. They need not to know about their Kuya's situation.

"Yes Marcus?" I answered while trying to calm myself. He's the most suspicious one and hard to fool, that's why two pranks only have succeeded on him.

"Is Kuya okay?" he asked. Too late to stay hidden

"What do you mean?" I asked back still trying to not understand him.

"You guys are out right? Have you guys fought?" he asked. I was a bit confused but let's ride this on.

"Yeah, I'm trying to reconcile your brother and Rez. Don't worry we'll be there before you know it." I replied

"Just eat out then. Take care!" he said in high spirit and ended the call. Phew! That's a close one. I was about to walk inside when I received another call, it's Edwin this time.

"Yeah?" I answered

"You guys take care of him and I'll take care of the girls and Marcus." he said. So he's the one who made the story about Rez and Mikael's fight. Clever!

"Please do that. I locked our room since it's a mess. Please get all the keys from our room since Abby might enter and overthink." I said while walking inside the hospital.

"Okay." he replied and ended the call.

I walked towards Rez to ask about Mikael's condition. He was staring blankly in the ceiling so I pat his back and he looked at me.

"They took him to do tests. How about the doctor, is he here already?" he asked. I know he's scared right now and we can't tell it to everyone so all the fear was on us to take.

"He said he'll be here in 30 minutes if there's no traffic jam." I replied then we both stared blankly. After hours of waiting, the doctor came just to report to us that Mikael needs transplant ASAP. We both know about it but every time they talk about it, it's always a scare to us. As the news broke to us, Mikael's personal doctor came.

"How is he?" he asked

"They told us he needs a transplant ASAP. Is there no one?" I asked then Mikael was put to ICU so we followed the nurse and the doctor. His personal doctor talked to the one who examined Mikael while we took a seat at Mikael's room.

"I'm scared Noah. Shouldn't we inform his Mom at least?" Rez said. I'm scared too but Mikael made us swear about this kind of episodes he will have to not call anyone from the family. Unless this gets out of control then we might inform everyone. Please forgive me then, Mikael.

"We promised, right?" I said doubtfully. Maybe I just want Rez to be stubborn on calling Mikael's mom and everyone or maybe I just want my emotions to be validated.

"I know but this fear I'm feeling right now, is suffocating me." he exclaimed. I must stay calm. After a few minutes of talking, Mikael finally woke up trying to get up from the bed. We rushed to stop him and I could sense Rez wiping his tears.

"Dude I'm still alive." Mikael tried to joke about it but Rez couldn't take it anymore and burst in tears.

"Am I an unreliable friend to you? Do I look like a joke to you? Why can't you rely on us more? Do you think you're a superhuman? Do you think you can do all these things alone?" Rez asked uninterrupted. I hold Rez's shoulder while bowing his head crying infront of us.

"It's not like that." Mikael replied guilty

"Then why do we always have to guess you're next plans? Why do we have to always secretly help you? Why are we always careful in lending you a hand? Why must we hide? You're a burden? A nuisance? Yes you are dude and you're our friend. Don't you get that?" Rez exclaimed then Mikael's personal doctor came in the room and looked at us.

"This won't help him. Please don't give him something to stress on, it won't really help. Noah please cool your heads outside." the doctor said and I was about to drag Rez outside but he doesn't move an inch.

"Rez." I said trying to show him outside.

"Right? We're only a stress to you that doesn't help? Alright!" he exclaimed again then angrily went outside. So I nod to Mikael and his doctor to go after Rez.

"Rez, wait up!" I shouted but he continued to walked outside the hospital. I consistently called his name until I finally I catch up to him.

"What were you thinking? You could've wait to vent it all out when his okay." I scolded him

"Don't you feel the same? Be honest with me Noah, don't you feel the same?" he angrily said.

"I know how you're feeling right now but now is not the time for it. Let's be there for him until his okay." I said trying to calm him down

"I feel heavy inside, Noah." he said in surrender

"I know but this is also hard on him. You know he grew up seeing everybody around him crying and sad because of he and his father's condition. His strength is our happiness. Let's give him a little more time, please Rez." I said comforting him.

"MIKAEL'S POV"

"You on an oxygen mask is an indication that you need transplant real quick." Doctor Hiro said, my personal doctor.

"Still nothing?" I asked regarding heart donors.

"Your mom." he said and I clenched my fist at the hearing of it. I still have a lot of things to do with her and so is the twins.

"That's not an option Doctor." I said then I looked away. A lot of crazy things are running through my head right now and I don't know what to do. I don't want to leave everyone, not like this.

"Take a good rest and take your medicine. You can go tomorrow morning, tomorrow morning Mikael not later." he said clearly warning me. The others should be here but why is Noah and Rez are the one here only? Did they really hide it? Then I became miserable at the hearing of it.

"Let's try one more time but I don't want to be greedy. I just want them to remember me trying everything I could." I said holding back my tears.

"Try to still enjoy this vacation, happy cells helps you, not drastically but it helps. Be positive son." he said comforting me and tapped my shoulders.

"I'll go and do some searching for you heart. See you next week for the appointment." he added smiling at me

"Thank you." I responded then he left. After that, Rez and Noah came in. Rez is still angry, I know since he's avoiding my gazes.

"Okay everyone, let's stay for the night here and maybe we can go early tomorrow. Rest your bodies well. C'mon let's sleep." Noah said trying to break the awkwardness in the room.

"You know, I'll be always grateful that you're my friends. Thank you for putting up to me all these years. I genuinely am thankful." I said sincerely

"Dude, stop that. We know about it but let's stay positive." Noah said trying to avoid getting emotional. That's so not like him.

"Are we still on this burden thingy?" Rez said annoyed

"It's not that I don't want you guys to help, it's just that I thought from the past years, I've been relying on you guys too much. It kinda pushed me to think that all I did was receive help from you and instead of seeing you guys as my friend, I took it as pity. I'm sorry if I hurt you." I said and silence creep the room

"That's what friends are for." Noah said grinning at me then he pat Rez

"I don't care if I loss all my money and resources, I just don't want my friends to suffer or be gone." Rez said looking at me intently

"You guys are my friends and more than that, you've been my brothers and companion too. So, I'm humbled to be your friend." I said then we reconciled. Morning came and we got back to the hotel. I'm feeling a bit good but they warned me not to overdo myself. I'll enjoy this day and the days to come.
