The very air in the great hall suddenly seemed to become stagnant and the Gryffindor table groaned and cracked as an invisible pressure fell upon it. Nick lips were pulled back in a vicious snarl of pure unadulterated rage as the hand hold his pewter cup crushed it without any regards to the shards of metal that stabbed his hand. Sparks of electricity and fire popped off from Nicks holstered wand as it vented the rampaging magical energy he was releasing. Everyone within twenty feet of him suddenly paled and shivered in fear as the feeling of a dragon waking up in a foul mood came over them.-
No one noticed it immediately but the enchanted ceiling of the great hall started to shift from a normal partially cloudy day to dark and brooding. Nick reached for his wand with a positively murderous expression and a spell rang out in the silent hall as Snape reacted instantly "STUPEFY!". The spell struck Nick and he passed out under it's effects and the whole great hall sucked in a breath as if they had all forgotten to do so. 'It would seem I underestimated how severe his reaction would be' Dumbledore thought with a concerned look.-
Ron reached across the table and grabbed the letter that had been dropped by Nick while everyone watched and waited to understand what had just happened. He slowly read what was written growing flushed from his own anger as he did so and in the pin drop silence of the great hall everyone heard him. Only those not aware of what the inheritance test at Gringotts involved had confused looks on their faces while the others all had one of three expressions , outrage , disbelief and wariness.-
All of these expressions were targeting the old wizard sitting in the middle of the professors long table with a helpless smile. "Open the other package and read it's contents , Weasley." Snape spoke calmly and no one moved to stop Ron as he started to unravel the twin holding the parcel shut. When unraveled two things fell onto the long table in front of Ron , a silver and blue ring with an eagle on it's face and another letter. Many people who recognized the style of the ring paled and gaped in disbelief. Ron was included amongst that number as he had seen a ring that was so very similar on his fathers finger.-
Ron nervously reached out and grabbed the letter and started reading it's contents out loud shakily. "We at Gringotts would like to congratulate you on the discovery of your relation in regards to the Ravenclaw family. Due to not having any other claimants the lordship and authorities involved are hereby bestowed upon your person as the last known living member of the household. Enclosed in this parcel is your signet ring which acts as both verification of your station and key to the vaults held under our care. We look forward to your visit at the earliest possible convenience to discuss your assets." Ron finished speaking and dropped the letter while looking at Nick's unconscious self in disbelief.-
From the professors table there was various expressions on the faces of the staff with the hospital caretaker Madam Pomfrey looking worried as she rushed over to Nick to check on him. She called Hagrid over and had the large man carry Nick to the infirmary though not before the man collected his things , including the ring. Once they left the great hall the students burst into chatter about this massive piece of news that had shown up out of nowhere.-
Meanwhile Mcgonagall and Flitwick both had stony expressions as they looked at Dumbledore who throughout this entire event hadn't spoken a word. He never got the chance really as Nick had clearly been about to full on attack him in anger when Severus stopped him. The broody potions teacher may not be a very expressive man but the headmaster could see the disappointment in the man's eyes. Nick was excused from todays classes and breakfast ended without any other disruptions but the damage had already been done.-
No one could get the events of breakfast out of their heads as even those who weren't aware of the big deal it was were informed by their housemates. A certain ghost in the castle however was euphoric at the news and rushed towards the infirmary anxiously. Snape was an exceptional combatant and noticed the look and body language that the boy had after reading that letter. The magical chaos only further solidified in the man's mind that his fully powered knockout spell was for the best but after learning the truth of the matter , he regretted stopping the boy from attacking Dumbledore.
