As they took their first bite, a call came in… being directly linked to his computer as it started ringing while Lester got up to answer it, not bothering to put on a headset.
["Hey its me."] Michaels voice came out of the speakers on the side, as Keith took the first bite, not bothering to wait for Lester to finish.
"I know.. how did it go?" Lester stroked his head, likely thinking back to the earlier when Michael left.
["Just fabulous, ran into an old friend… matter of fact he saved my ass."] Michael clearly hinted that Trevor had come by, helping him with the meeting.
"Ohh so we all friends now?.." Lester seemed to think of something to add, not doing so as his headage got the better of him.
["Listen.. he still wants to go on.. the final victory tour.."] Keith perked up at the mention… after the things that he had heard, Keith thought that it might be off entirely, but at the same time doing it with grudges could cause unnecessary tensions during the Heist.
"Alright, when it looks like it's a go.. ill contact you.." Lester started typing some things on his computer as Michael closed the call from his end..
"When do you think we can do it…" Keith was curious as to how quick they could wrap everything up.. they had already scoped the place so getting the plan straight and getting the gear would be the next two things on the list..
"With everything heating up around us, our best bet is to do it as soon as possible, my best guess would be doing it by the end of the week." With them hurrying the end of the week could still be seen as a great achievement… Keith had prepared for the failed Heist in Liberty city for a couple of months
"How far along with planning are you.." Keith took another bite of the food as he watched Lester make the final notes..
"I got two basic plans set up… but I am still working out the finer details.." Lester grabbed a plate of his own, beginning to eat as eh seemed to be deep in thought.
"Its always two, isn't it?" Keith couldn't help but mention it, seeing as almost every time he noticed the choice made on the planning board.
"Well there aren't that many ways that are going to have the same amount of success now are there.."
"Fair… let me see for a bit what you have up until now…" Keith stood up approaching the monitor to see what Lester had noted down..
Continuing to eat, Keith read everything they had gathered up until now…
"Why don't we use the jammers to prevent the signal from coming out… mitigating the police attention that we would get from the drilling?"
"And what would we do about the internal security?"
"The fault can only be opened under specific circumstances… either they don't have good security or they can't open the door immediately.. and with the police not there, the gold can be moved by two people, meaning that we will be out of the fault waiting for evac before long."
"that would mean running on a immensely thin time table.."
"Not different from the other things you have noted down.."
"Mhh… I get your point.. but what about the getaway… the jammers only last so long as to prevent them from stopping you immediately… not enough for you to make it out of the underground network without getting seen…"
"Well… we can…" Keith thought about it, not finding any real possibility off escape..
If they used wires to attach themselves to the chopper, then they would be shot down due to the delay.. if they used the sewer system to get out of line of sight, then they would prevent a firefight for a while before either needing to fight in a undefendable position, or needing to fight out of it.
Using a car would only result in them getting stuck in a chase.. it wouldn't be impossible, but it would recure hours to shake off most of the pursuers.. so that meant…
"What do you think about modified cars?"
"What do you mean?.. tuned once to make you go faster?.."
"Nonono.. I mean kind of like that… get a good car, near the dug site, after the gold is gone we can drive off…"
"And what about the police that will be chasing you… the tunnels wont work, we tried that."
"I don't know… what do you got for your original plan.."
"Mhh.. now that u mention it, we could try to get the car into the back of a truck, hiding it from the cops.. but that needs a window… either drive around a designated rout to throw the cops off or use something to hide the car while we bring it on.. set up some smoke and mirrors to confuse them.."
"What if we actually do that?"
"Literal smoke and mirrors?"
"The smoke will hide the transfer… maybe get some of their air-show smoke… placing them in the tunnels to cover up what we are doing.. make it dense enough for only the lights of the cars to pass through.. and fill the whole tunnel with it.."
"You're saying something right there… let me iron it out.. see if it fits… Michael will chose in the end so don't get your hopes up."
"Does it really matter… with a pay-out this huge the likelihoods of success is way more important.." Keith knew Michael wouldn't chose something he didn't trust, he would be willing to take Keith's offer if he pushed the matter…
Keith continued to eat, eventually biding Lester goodbye as he headed home… on the way there Keith mulled over the plans… the jammers he had with him could be useful in every scenario, even if they didn't depend on them.. in either of the original plans they could buy time for them.
All approaches would need some luck, If not just enough skill to cover the luck part.. but the one he and Lester thought up moments before needed the most amount of timing in any of them…
For it to run smoothly they needed to get the gold out before the cops arrived, hopefully not getting delayed by the internal security to much before heading out and catching up with a truck.. with a window only showing itself for moments within the tunnel…
Now that he thought about it, they could circumvent the tunnel escape if they used a ladder to get on the chopper… but something like that would require even more luck, not to mention extremely precise timing on both parties end.
Turning the last corner Keith let the automated garage doors open in front of him, driving his car into the privet garage he owned inside of the building…
Keith couldn't help but appreciate the design as he walked towards the elevator, wanting to finally be back home… even tacking a shower if he could.. as he smelled a bit of alcohol and ash… both smells Keith didn't appreciate clinging onto his body.
"Good morning Boss, how have you been?" Stacy, his assistant, greeted Keith as he walked in, smiling brightly at him.
"What has gotten you in such a good mood.." Keith hadn't seen her so happy since she had a entire free day of.
"This weeks profit margins are way better then I expected, plus them being mostly self contained… although now that I do mention it.. don't you think you should get some better people to manage the cars… somehow they always seem to return with scratches bumps, costing us quite a lot in the long run."
"I set a budget for that didn't I?" Keith headed into his room, leaving the door open to be still able to talk to Stacy as he grabbed some stuff, preparing to get into a shower.
"Yes but I think you are being way to generous with them… allowing them to return with thousands of repair costs is… is.." She seemed to struggle with her words, allowing Keith to interrupt.
"As expected.. do you know how they get the cars?" Keith didn't want to reprimand her too much, as she wasn't a driver herself.
"They acquisition them from sometimes unwilling participants.." the terms she used were to soft handed for Keith, who decided to spell It out.
"They steal them… what do you think happens when someone steals a high class car?"
"They get reported to the police?" It was the obvious answer, something that wasn't even wrong.
"That.. and more importantly chased by the owners… even if I went and drove the cars myself, they would still come up with scratches from time to time.. it is almost inevitable."
"I understand boss, won't mention it again." Her mood seemed somewhat dampened by Keith's words..
"Listen.. I appreciate you doing your job with utmost devotion, so… a end of year bonus?.." Keith didn't know what to rewards his employees with, she didn't do much, only managing his company while he himself did other things, and her concern, while misplaced came from a good place… a place with the desire to make more money..
"More vacation time?"
"Yeah. I am not that generous.." Closing the interconnection door Keith entered the bathroom, undressing himself before noticing the giant blue bruise on his back, perfectly outlining a oxygen flask that had been strapped onto his back…
Investigating it for a bit, Keith found that it didn't hurt to much, only giving a slight pain when used… getting injured on the job was part of the lifestyle, so making sure that he was ready for another round once it came was something Keith had to be sure on… he hadn't become a medical provisional, but he knew what to do when suffering from something..
Heading into the shower, Keith washed away the sweat that had accumulated on his body, removing the smells that had begun to bother him on his way there.
In the confine of the room, he thought back to last night, and to how the agents would react to that… Michael said he would deal with it, but hearing him earlier that day caused Keith to realise that he might not have been able to peacefully escape their clutches, meaning that they were coming to the closing point…
The issue would need to be resolved soon…
Exiting the shower, Keith dressed himself into something nice, he was still open on what to do… as he still had most of the day to spend…
Killing the road captain was still on the list.. although Keith didn't know where he was, the thought did bring him to want to visit Malcom again, wanting him convinced on a future partnership for when he was out of the hospital..
Grabbing his phone, Keith made plans for him to head out, first going to Malcom to check up on him, before either going somewhere together or finding a place to eat..
Keith headed towards the door…
"Hey Stacy.. ill be heading out for a bit… could you please do some research into the road-captain of the lost mc… names and properties.. anything you can find out about him.." Although Keith knew that she likely couldn't find much, he wanted to find any public link he still had.
"Sure thing boss." Keith smiled, as he headed for the exit..
"Oh.. and we will discuss your possible holidays another time." Keith wasn't totally heartless, if she wanted paid time off, then he would look into getting her that… he would just have to overview everything on his own for a couple of days.. nothing impossible..
Keith paid a visit to the hospital, surprising Malcom, who had been recovering for a while..
It turned out that Malcom would still be in the hospital for a couple of days, before he could go home again…
With neither of them having much to share Keith decided to go to the topic he knew Malcom didn't like much..
"Soo… we could still work together if you are interested?" The question caused Malcom to sigh in annoyance.
