The dungeon was cold and smelly. Greg could not stand staying here for another minute. He had always been prepared to go to prison in case he was wrongfully accused of murder so he kept a lockpick under the skin on his underarm.
Greg crawled over to the lock on the cell-door and went to work-
???: "breakin' out are we?"
Greg: "UWAHH!"
Greg was concentrating on picking opening the lock when a gruff voice suddenly entered his ears. The startled Greg's eyes scanned the cell in a hurry. In the dark, dank corner of the cell, he saw an unkempt, skinny man with dark blue hair tied in a pony-tail. With an eye-patch over his left eye, and a scar over his nose, this person looked very intimidating.
???: "What are you screaming about all of a sudden?"
Greg wanted to kill him but unfortunately his karambit was not on his body when he woke up so the guards or whatever must have taken it. Greg was just staring at the man for a few seconds before the man spoke again.
???: "Keep goin', will ya? Ill be your partner in this escape, so pick open the lock already before the guards come, yeah?
Greg nodded and got back to picking the lock. 'This man seems suspicious, but I have no choice but to trust him for now' Greg thought to himself as he used the lockpicking skills he had practiced for a long time at home.
*click*
The lock was undone and the cell-door was opened. The blue-haired man walked right out before Greg could even get up.
Partner: "Your lockpickin' skills were quite decent there. Come on now, follow me."
Greg got up and dusted off his pants, which had gotten dirty, and walked out of the cell quickly. He decided to follow the man as he did not know the layout of this place.
The two sneaked around the underground cell area, which was a bit larger than what Greg had first imagined. There were only a few cells other than the one he was in and they were all filled with at least two people. But despite there being only a few cells here, the tunnels looked quite complex and it seemed that one could easily get lost in them. Luckily, Greg had a partner who, somehow, was quite knowledgeable about this underground area. The man from his cell knew the exact way out of the prison and after only a few minutes of speed-walking, they came to a spiral staircase.
Partner: "There might be a guard at the top of these stairs so don't make a sound till' we get to the top, aight'?
After straining his body in an effort to not make any sounds, Greg and his partner arrived at the top of the staircase and just as his partner said- there was a guard at the top of the staircase. The guard wasn't facing the stairwell so Greg's partner quickly snuck up behind him and broke his neck with inhumanly quick movements.
"What the hell…"
Greg couldn't help but exclaim in surprise at his partner's demon-like sneak attack. If Greg had been able to move like that, he definitely wouldn't have gotten caught in his fight with the thugs. Greg was stuck admiring this blue-haired demon when something was thrown his way.
Partner: "Take this dagger, we might encounter more guards!"
Greg barely caught the dagger and looked at it. He remembered that his karambit was taken. Greg wanted to find it but decided otherwise as his partner went towards the door leading outside.
The fresh outside air was truly bliss for Greg as he had spent a while in that shitty underground cell. The sun had just started to rise in the horizon. Greg remembered this scenery as he had walked through this same place before his fight with the thugs. Greg was enjoying the view of this run-down town when he heard a sudden shout.
"HALT!"
Greg's heart shook at the voice. He turned around and saw a guard. The guard seemed to be quite angry as he walked towards Greg and his partn-
'Huh? Where did he go?'. Greg's blue-haired partner had disappeared.
Greg's heart sank as he realized he was alone. He couldn't get caught by these bastards again, so he ran away from the guards with all his might.
Speeding through tight alleyways and across the streets, Greg couldn't seem to get away from these damn guards. He decided to get out of this town. He ran towards the gate where he came into the town from. There was a single guard waiting at the entrance.
"STOP THAT MAN!"
The guards chasing Greg seemed to have increased as there were now more than ten of them. At the entrance to the town, the guard had heard the shouts of Greg's pursuers and was now holding out his arms like a soccer goalkeeper. Greg was quickly approaching the goalkeeper, seeing that he had no way of maneuvering past this guard, he threw his dagger at him.
*SWISH*
Flying through the air at the speed of sound, the dagger went in the direction of the entrance guard and completely missed.
"IIIIYAAAAHHHH!"
But the guard seemed to have been scared because of the dagger flying towards him because he had cowered in fear. Greg was easily able to run past him at this point.
Greg had accomplished his goal of exiting the town, but the problem now was that a dozen guards were still chasing him. If he didn't outrun them now, then he would definitely get killed. Greg put all his power into his legs and focused as hard as he could to run as perfectly and most effective way possible.
But even then, the guards were still on his tail. The sound of a horse galloping entered his ears. Greg looked back and saw that a man on horseback was coming at him, way faster than he was able to run.
