His head leaned to the side and his laughter stopped. Fake as it was, his beautiful features formed a shock expression. Jasper's hand raised towards his mouth and an audible escaped between his fair lips.
"Who would expect we would cross paths on this narrow road?" His eyes curved with schadenfreude and though Avina couldn't see, she knew his lips were curved into a smirk.
Avina glanced left to right, estimating the distance of the road. It could easily fit a marching army, not to mention their small group. If this was narrow, then his arrogance was wider than the equator.
Her thoughts provoked a small chuckle. It sounded like jingling bells in the simple quiet, something Jasper didn't handle well. His blue eyes narrowed and his smile dropped. His act dropped and he didn't spare any effort to keep up the farce.
