The Gauntlet of Retribution
Jun felt the wind rushing past his face as he and Ryo plummeted downwards in the darkness. Jun had counted the seconds it took for the rock to hit the bottom as well as how fast sound actually travels.
And his educated guess told him that they were about 5 seconds from hitting the bottom. He only had one option to ensure they landed in one piece, but it would also potentially give away their location.
Jun held his hand down below, "Unholy Art: Barrier, x3!" A 3-layer bubble of energy surrounded the two of them. The light also allowed them to see each other, an Ryo was falling head first in a superman like pose. His face was lit up with excitement.
The idiot, thought Jun.
The barrier crashed into the ground and an explosion of energy occurred, sending shockwaves through the immediate area. The two opened their eyes to see that the barrier had survived down to the last layer and saved both of them.
