"I'm sorry Your Highness, but… what are Buto and Scorpiotan?" Chiya had that confused look on her face, Hazana also seemed to be on board with her question.
"Ah, I won't blame you for not knowing them, there's no such thing as Taanji in the Sky Cities after all since every single one of them that tried to approach it got butchered by the God of Knowledge." It's seriously brutal how keen and spontaneous He is when it comes to defending the cities.
With that being said, Taanji or Monsters and all the Void problems only occur on the Land. The Ocean had its own monsters, but we didn't consider them as Taanji since they already exist before Taanji even arrived in this New World.
Not that they're less worst, however.
"Ouh… then why didn't the Land get protection from the Gods? I mean, most living members of the Holy System live on Land!" Chiya curiously continued her question.
"The Holy System had a rule to not meddle too much with our mortal problems, but the God of Knowledge protecting the Cities Above the Clouds is a special case since you know… he's bound to a promise even before he ascends?"
I thought this is common knowledge… how come she doesn't know about all this?
"Aahh… so that's why…" Her eyes turned wide as she just realized something so obvious.
"Well we don't wanna stuck here all day, let's just roll in!" I stood, leading them to charge the front gate.
"Rog'."
"Let's go!"
Both Hada and I raised our swords, mine a [Santi] and his a [Bara]. Each of us opened the contact by creating a crescent-shaped elemental wave that burn and frostbitten 4 of the Uhndaks guarding the gate.
A normal Uhndak that isn't protected by a Knife Holder usually isn't hard to take down, and luckily it was the case for the engagement.
But their Knife Holder is quite sensitive. He immediately realized our siege and alerted the entire Wall Guard to start attacking us. Every single one of their arrows is now coated with chaos energy colored by their maroon light. I need to act fast, as hell was about to be unleashed upon us.
"Falisha!" I shouted at my ice sister, requesting her to deal with the incoming arrow shower.
"Understood, Bro-Highness…"
The girl then took out her [Sheep Cane] from her personal dimension. She might not be a shepherd, but she guides some of the most powerful animal-shaped elementals.
[Ice Magic]
[Elemental]
"(Shield Birds)"
"Glacia Taong!"
As she spoke the words, chills went spreading through the air, gathering cold from the atmosphere, assembling them as a bunch of bird-like elementals.
They are called the Ice Hornbill, giant birds in white feathers with a banana-looking beak, body size as tall as a Scientist adult, and wingspan up to 2 meters long. Each of them carries a huge mirror ice shield with their claws, facing towards the enemy line.
*Shoot!*
Their noises pierced the air, as Arrows started raining, painting the sky with their maroon-colored trails.
Yet they only found their heads hitting and blocked by the mirror shields. But with how powerful the chaos energy is at disturbing the flow of magic, those mirrors quickly cracked, with a threat of shattering.
"Uh… Your Highness…?" Even Hazana knew how fucked we're if those shields break.
"You're a Siska, Falisha. Learn to chill…"
Hada raised his [Bara] and slashed the nothingness in front of him. His eyes and sword glowed, yet not a single trace of magic came out of his attack.
But the mirror shields now have a different story to tell. Each of them suddenly let out an ice wave that bombarded the top of the enemy wall with frosty plasma.
Every Uhndak that attacked us was now flung away, falling from where they were standing, hitting the ground hard, and no longer in a neat position to attack us.
"Weird… why didn't the Knife Holder make a chaos shield to protect them?" I muttered to myself.
"Well whatever, now's the chance! Revian!" I behested my male dragon companion to make a way for us by getting rid of the wooden gate attached to the palisade.
"As you wish, Your Highness." He retorted with a deep rumbling voice.
*!!!*
The beast charged. While still in his four-legged form he rammed his body into the gate that blocked our way inside. Things to are that Revian is so mindlessly heavy, even some of us lost our footing when he started running toward his target.
And when he struck forward, the gate didn't stand a chance. Their wooden formation wrecked, launched all over the place, creating a giant hole in their defense. Dust began clouding the battlefield.
"Looks like Althea was right. My Prince, their walls are utterly weak!" Anna was impressed by how quick Revian bulldozed that gate.
Nevertheless, the dragon didn't stop when the gate fell. He quickly turned his long body aside, as if blocking something from coming our way.
From the crowded dust, our enemies already put up a line with their weapon aimed at Revian, coated with chaos energy and now also protected by chaos shield.
All of Revian's scales quickly assembled themselves into a metal wall, facing the enemy on his right side. He's already prepared to engulf all of their incoming attacks.
However, Chiya has her own plan for the scenario.
"Hehe, I wanna join in too~"
She immediately took out a metally black whip from her personal dimension and began to magically wrap it tightly on both of her wrists.
[Dark Magic]
[5th Level]
"(Masochistic Endeavor: Handscrew)"
"Asta Bauther…"
The whip then pulled itself as fast as the eyes can blink, leaving a mark on where it was staying. I could hear a faint moan come out of her mouth.
All of a sudden, a dark mechanism began creating itself, it was a torture device, two planks on top and bottom of her hand, with both having large pointy spikes facing her wrists.
*Crack!*
With no remarks, the two planks then violently piled on top of each other like a puzzle, thrusting their spikes right through her skin and flesh. Two sticks of screws were then inserted into both of their sides and quickly screwed, making it tighter than ever.
Blood began spurting out. Even with a scream blatantly burst out of her throat, the expression she gave tells that she enjoyed all that gruesome pain.
On the other hand, our enemies suddenly dropped their weapons, the maroon-colored chaos shields also disappeared unexpectedly. All of the Uhndaks could all feel a deep pain hitting their wrists. I could hear their screeches of terror spreading throughout the air.
There's a dark purple mark on their hand, but not a giant wound like the one on Chiya's wrists. She shares the pain with her enemy but not the damage, or maybe there are other effects? I need to ask her later.
"Hada! Hit 'em!" I use this chance where they're not protected by the chaos shield to obliterate them all.
"Ha! You just read my mind, brother!"
Hada quickly swiped his bara sword vertically, creating a giant ice wave that engulfed the enemy line whole. I then finished them all using my musket firearm, since it deals a lot more damage to small enemies.
