"This class is… weird," Chiya said after we were done with ISDC and the missus left the hall.
"How so?" I asked out of curiosity.
"Most of these people here train themselves as soldiers, not scholars. Their job is to follow orders and deal with physical activities. And now the teacher asked them to think? Not just for themselves but for the society as a whole?" She placed her head lying on the table till her cheek was mushed by it as if there's a heavyweight on her mind.
"Ah… if you made it that way then… yeah, it is weird." As I said it, both of the dragons nodded in silence, they agreed to what Chiya said.
"Uhm, mates… the class is heading out." Anna pointed at the door, and so all of our gazes turned toward it.
"Hm? Will the next class be held somewhere else?" I questioned.
"Mhm, in the center of the Academy." Anna nodded. "If I remember correctly, the name of it is the Fountain of Guiding Light."
"A fountain?" Chiya had that confused look on her face.
"Yes! But instead of water, it spurts light. It's really cool!" Seems like Hazana has already done here scouting.
"Oh, you've been there? When?" Chiya smiled a bit. I kinda get it though, it's nice to see the lightning girl get all excited, rather than her usual gloomy self.
"Yesterday. Come on! Let's head there quickly! If my theory is correct, then this class will be mesmerizing!"
Well, no one can't say no to a face that bright. Her clouds have changed their shades from grey to blue. It's nice to be seeing the positive charge of it.
Along with the rest of the class, we walked calmly to the center of the Academy to reach the mentioned fountain. The two dragons were still on their Kaoma form since I don't see the benefit of them using their dragonic form in a non-physical learning situation.
Well, maybe their height? I don't know… but their presence invited a lot of stares from the academic community since we haven't received a Kaoma guest in this city for quite a while.
The Academy isn't arranged to be flat or uniform. The layout is quite abstract and packed with all kinds of different buildings. Which the placing for the same type of buildings (like classes) are not in the similar edge to walls, road or other buildings.
Some are also not attached to the ground, as the God of Knowledge also participates in the making of the Academy. With his power to control gravity, couples of buildings float on top of one another, to save the space which was originally given for the Academy to be built.
His Holiness Verslinder wanted his creation to be as equipped and as perfect as possible after all.
To reach the floating buildings, Her Holiness Austra created a mechanism that we can activate to access multiple ways depending on our destination.
It's called the Path of Light, which name is pretty explanatory. Through a simple push of a button, we can summon a road of yellowish light to create a way for us to a certain spot and place. This is really helpful but might prove to be too frightening for those who possessed acrophobia, the intense fear of height, which… exists in lots of Shapers.
The path is transparent (although carved with lots of runes), and the side isn't guarded by any fences. A single click of a button from the edge of its path can make it disappear so another path can exist.
If this happened, anyone standing on it will fall flat to the ground. Fortunately falling from something as low as the 5th floor isn't enough to kill a Shaper or Keeper, and a Scientist can just summon their wings and fly.
Although for Painter, it might be the end for them. But the only Painter on the Academy (except for lecturer) is those Vampir. And they're born as a Guardian hybrid, which possesses tons of physical prowess. They'll survive.
We can't protest about this, of course. It won't cause fatal harm while producing numerous fear. Fear is like food for Dramu (dark musician), so His Holiness won't be happy if we take it away.
"There it is!" Hazana jumped around like an overly excited child trying to drag their parents at a recreation center.
"I'm always confused when seeing Her Holiness light… it's somewhat blinding, yet my eyes just felt lots of comforts when staring at it." Said Anna as she gazed at the blooming fountain.
"The Lishmi's (light musician) can't cause harm after all… it's their curse and blessing." I answered as we walked above the Path of Light.
"I suppose you're right."
The Fountain of Guiding Light is created as a circular hall with a glass dome as its roof. The place is two stories tall, but the second floor is nothing but an overpass with a hole at its center while guarded by a line of golden fence.
Cream ceramics coated the ground and amid it is a gorgeous fountain made out of white stone with tons of holy diamonds embedded on it. The shining light that spurts out of its top and pooled its body, colored all those diamonds in the shades of a rainbow. Truly a sight to behold, it really pleases the eyes.
"The light is so… visible." Said Anna as she leaned on the golden fence after we arrived through the second floor. "It's like seeing a windfall light, except the whole area is brighten by the day."
The entire class seemed to be enchanted by it, even though some have already seen it, but they can't help but be mesmerized by every sight of the goddess light. Even Hazana has hope filling her violet eyes.
"So… this is a geography course, right? Why are we here circling around some fountain? Is it gonna get changed with some kind of giant map?" Chiya on the other hand somehow isn't really affected by the light influence.
Right after that question, the light emitted by the fountain began to change its shapes into a flat circle that severed the first and second floor right on its hole. It then repolished itself by going up and down while also adding some detail here and there.
It was turned into a giant 3D map made purely out of light. But because of its purity, we can't really see the dimensions. Although the light under the control of Her Holiness is also known as visible light. And it consists of 7 rainbow colors.
Those colors began to paint the map to make it closer to its original like green for grass, blue for water, and so on. Yet still… it's still hard to see as it is still… a light.
It didn't end there, fortunately, right under this overpass stood tall 9 pillars. On each of them is a device that steams mist of darkness from under the map. It slowly gives shades to the light, giving it the perfect dimension and texture, reimagining the map to its fullest.
"Must be nice to have the gods answer your question eh?" I cheekily smiled at the ashen lady.
"Eh… ehehehe." A small drop of sweat runs down her forehead as she awkwardly scratches her ear with her index.
"Sup, young blood!" A loud friendly voice echoed through the hall, and a man then emerged from under the map of light.
It was a Vhisawi with his gaze focused on some kind of device held in his hand. The man sat on a flying metal disc, which was probably another God's of knowledge creation.
He wore a light yellow formal shirt along with a purple coat covering it. His pants are long with the same color as his shirt, while his tie is the same as his coat. On his shoulder and left chest was drawn a Guild logo (a shield with Ratmuju symbol inside of it, which is the combination of a bass clef and treble clef, forming the shape of a heart).
I guess it's the uniform for the lecturer, I wonder why Mrs. Aalisha didn't wear one. She still wearing those white psychologist dresses I always saw in the hospital.
"Now, you lads and lass ready to explore the Island of Chaos?"
