Chapter Eight: Goblin Commander

"Oh, a rare recruitment scroll." Like any item, recruitment scrolls also have their quality, which determines the strength of the monster summoned from it.

Without any hesitation, he clicked yes.

Suddenly, a gate appeared.

The gate was covered in green mist. It had carvings of goblins on it.

As the door opened, two individuals walked out.

"We, the soldiers trained on the battlefield, who have fought countless life-and-death battles for the superior goblin race, are at your service, lord!"

The two individuals were taller than normal goblins and could even talk. Their voices were a bit deep and sounded somewhat funny, but they were clear.

Wearing thick metal armor and pants that looked inconvenient for movement, they walked with spears in their hands.

They had green skin but surprisingly pleasant appearances, unlike the goblins in the dungeon. Their appearance was pleasant to look at, not disgusting at all, and they had smooth green hair.

"Good. I welcome you, two brave soldiers!" It was a bit cringe to talk like a lord. "I won't treat you badly. I hope you can be my warriors and fight with me."

It's better to tell them they are his warriors for better connection. They are summoned warriors of different races, so if he didn't properly create a hierarchy, it could be a problem in the future as they may fight with other races in the territory.

Recruited warriors can't attack the lord. However, if their loyalty decreases to a certain level, they will leave the territory.

Once they are out, the contract is dispelled, and they may attack you in the future depending on your behavior toward them.

In a way, they are not slaves, but as long as their loyalty is high, they will obey most of the orders.

"Yes, lord. We will fight for you! We swear on our race that we won't betray our lord's trust." The goblins knelt like proper warriors.

Gol and Gam—quite weird names, but they are of the goblin race, so it may be common there. And they were elite creatures.

Every creature in the game was divided into tiers and grades. Tier increases with level, like it requires a special item at a certain level to increase the tier. The same applies to their grade, but grade isn't restricted by level.

Most of the creatures are of ordinary grade. Then there are elite, leader, commander, and so on. Each higher-grade creature is stronger than the same creature of the same level with a lower grade.

"I am currently in a dungeon," Lan Sol explained the situation. "So we have to hunt the goblins. Are you guys comfortable killing your own kin?"

"Not a problem, lord!" Gol replied enthusiastically.

"We are of the Superior Goblin race. We don't see these pesky little goblins as our kin," Gam added.

"Okay then. Let's slaughter them all."

"Yeah!"

The two recruits were quite enthusiastic. Lan Sol was very happy.

The trio continued their journey. They returned to the path and took the left path.

As they walked, a horde of goblins attacked them.

"We will deal with them, lord," the two goblins said, jumping into the horde.

Five Goblin Soldiers and ten weak goblins attacked.

But their armor and spears were of high quality, unlike the weapons the goblins wielded.

Puk!

The spear killed a weak goblin with a single strike.

Gol raised the spear and used the goblin he had impaled to hit the next goblin that came at them.

Gam, on the other hand, jumped and slammed his spear into the goblin's head. The goblin's head split into two as the spear tip was very sharp.

The Superior Goblins slaughtered the horde. It wasn't a battle; it was a massacre.

Their technique, skills, and stats were far superior to the goblins'. Gol and Gam looked after each other and supported each other thoroughly.

Their armor was sturdy too—no attack made a dent in it.

Despite wearing heavy, uncomfortable armor, their movements were quick and smooth.

It was incredible.

A horde of notifications flashed by, but Lan Sol was so captivated by their battle that he didn't even notice them.

Gol swiped his spear, killing a weak goblin, then stabbed back to hit a Goblin Soldier approaching from behind.

Before another Goblin Soldier could attack him, Gam from the side stabbed the Goblin Soldier and kicked away the weak goblins who jumped at him.

Their speed was fast, and their attacks were coordinated.

In less than five minutes, the duo annihilated the horde of goblins without losing a single point of health.

"Amazing," Lan Sol said, impressed. But he kept his cool. As a lord, it wasn't good to show too much amazement at their skills.

He had to maintain his demeanor as a proper lord so they would work under him without hesitation. If his behavior didn't match that of a lord, they might not treat him as one, especially since he was weaker than them.

"Let's move on."

"Yes," both of them nodded and followed behind Lan Sol.

Lan Sol entered another cavern.

This time, there wasn't any suspense.

Twenty Goblin Soldiers stood on the left side.

Fifty Weak Goblins stood on the right.

In the middle was a huge goblin, the same height as Gol and Gam. It had a stone club with spikes on it.
