Chapter 13: Training

If we reach 100 power stones there will be an extra chapter <3< p>

I glanced at the spear in my hands. It would be convenient to have a dimensional bag instead of carrying it around. I can only curse those who designed the Adventurer Card to hold only Mora.

For the next ten minutes, I wielded the spear, realizing that my technique was quite basic. Well, it couldn't really be called a technique in the strictest sense either. I was simply waving it back and forth.

I wouldn't make any progress. What should I do? Perhaps I should borrow some technique books from the library. But then again, it's located in the Knights of Favonius Headquarters. I suppose I'll have no choice but to stop by there tomorrow.

I set my spear aside for the moment. I had something more important on my mind than combat training at the moment.

I always wondered why no one in the game used Anemo to fly. Sure, some characters could soar, but only to a limited extent—just a few meters high or a short distance.

Perhaps the creators intentionally imposed that restriction to maintain balance, right? If anyone could fly freely without a Wind Glider, it would cause chaos.

So, I set a goal: to fly! I know it's crazy talk, but it's not like I've got anything to lose. Might as well try and live out one of my kid dreams, right?

I closed my eyes, focusing my concentration. I could feel the Anemo's energy coursing through my body, though it still felt uncomfortable. When I opened my eyes again, a thin, blue cloak enveloped me, accompanied by a gentle breeze that stirred the surroundings.

"This won't be enough to enable flight."

I infused more elemental energy around me, and soon, a small whirlwind began to form.

"Nay, I need something to propel me upwards."

I directed my energy specifically towards my legs. Suddenly, I lost my balance as my feet lifted off the ground. I watched in awe as I ascended higher and higher, carried by the air current that followed my desires.

It worked!

After a few minutes, I couldn't help but feel disappointed with the outcome. I could float a few centimeters and even rise several meters, but it wasn't sufficient.

To move forward, I needed the air current to push me from behind. However, I yearned for something more; I longed to soar freely and become one with the wind.

That's it! My eyes widened as a new idea struck me—I had to become one with the wind! But how could I accomplish that?

I should give it a try.

I immersed myself in a deep state of mental stillness. The only sounds I perceived were the beating of my heart and the flow of blood through my body.

I meticulously covered every inch of my skin with the Anemo element, both internally and externally. Then, I directed my focus towards the air currents.

Despite my closed eyes, the wind allowed me to "perceive" a spear leaning against a tree a few meters away. It was akin to radar; whenever the air brushed against an object, a vivid image would instantaneously form in my mind.

I reopened my eyes, slightly dissatisfied with the tracking technique I had devised, as it didn't align with my ultimate objective.

Hmm...—what if I attempted to channel my own energy into the encompassing wind current? Perhaps then I could successfully merge with it.

Once again, I closed my eyes, allowing my elemental energy to flow outward in a delicate spiral, intertwining with the gentle breezes encircling me.

Gradually, I experienced a harmonious fusion with the Anemo energy itself. The sensation was entirely novel and exhilarating.

Unaware of the passage of time, I eventually opened my eyes, no longer sensing a separation. I had seamlessly merged with the air current, perceiving its energy as my own.

As I yearned to soar, the wind tenderly lifted me up, akin to a feather, before gracefully twirling me through the air. The sensation overwhelmed me. Although it felt peculiar to navigate without touching the ground, I knew that with more practice, my movements in the air would become increasingly fluid.

"By the Archons!"

Startled by the voice, I quickly turned around and saw the innkeeper, hands covering her mouth and eyes wide with astonishment as she looked up. It was then that I remembered I was still floating about five meters off the ground.

I wiped the smile off my face and descended gently, landing in front of her. Her expression of utter amazement was unmistakable. She appeared as if she had just witnessed something magical... and she wasn't far off.

Although in this world there were Visions that bestowed elemental powers upon their bearers, in reality, only a small fraction of the world's population possessed them, as they were believed to be a gift for the chosen ones by the gods.

Her astonishment at seeing me fly without a Wind Glider was understandable. However, I wasn't too concerned; I had a feeling that other people would catch glimpses of me flying from time to time.

"What are you doing here?"

"... This is still my inn, you know?" She quickly snapped out of her daze and responded. "I came to remind you that it's been three hours already, and I have to close the inn in half an hour. I was worried that something had happened to you."

"I apologize for causing you worry. Time really flew by while I was training."

"I can see that," she replied with a sigh. "I've never seen anyone fly without a Wind Glider before. Anyway, we should go inside before your food gets cold."

As we entered the inn, a delicious aroma swiftly greeted my senses. Within the dining room cheerful laughter and lively voices resounded. Some adventurers conversed merrily over ale, their good humor evident. Others supped in quietude, savoring each bite.

"Pray, find a table and rest. I shall bring your portions anon".

"Thanks".

I chose an empty table and waited patiently. Ere long, she arrived bearing my plate. Though simple, the fare tasted quite delectable. As the hours grew late, the others ascended to slumber. When I had finished, I bid the innkeeper good evening and hastened upstairs to my chamber.

No sooner had I touched the bed than sleep overcame me peacefully.
