Dual elements

Now that Thomas was full he headed toward the tree, the sky had darkened and he could already see flickering lights in the sky, nothing like those you could see from earth. These lights were packed and shone brightly it was a magnificent sight, even more beautiful than the Milky Way. Thomas's issue at the moment were all those trees that blocked his way, he really wanted to leave this forest at the moment or fly over these trees and have a clear view of the starry sky.

Outside the tree little Thomas was lying down and stargazing, Thomas was slowly walking toward him and his footsteps made him look at him, his eyes were misty as if he had cried not long ago.

"Were you crying ?"

"Nope, I'm a ghost and ghosts don't cry."

"I can see tears in your eyes who are you trying to mislead here."

"Forget it, I said I'm not crying."

He said while wiping his eyes with his sleeves.

Thomas went near him and put an arm over his shoulder

"Come on you can tell me, speak to me like I was your big brother !"

Little Thomas looked at him and saw sincerity in his eyes, he felt comfortable and wanted to confess to him but he felt like if he told him the truth he might leave and ignore his pleads for help.

"Don't worry about me, go to sleep and we'll keep training tomorrow."

For the next weeks he kept training, his routine became meditating in the morning, hunt for food, cook the food eat and sleep. Today it had been around a month that he had came to this world but he still hadn't met any human, he wanted to go outside the first and meet humans, make friends, maybe find a girl... he wanted to live his life as it had no meaning to stay hidden in this forest training day after day but little Thomas didn't want him to go before he reached the second ring.

At the moment he was meditating when suddenly his neck became cold, it was a different feeling from his first ring awakening but the pain was the same. The pain was less as his body was stronger but it still made him groan with his brows furrowed and gritted teeth.

"Ughh."

"Congratulations on reaching the second ring !" Little Thomas was always standing not far from him for the past weeks, they had became closer but he still refused to tell anything about his past and his revenge.

"Why is the feeling from this ring awakening different from the first one ?"

"What do you mean ?"

"When the first ring awakened my neck grew hot but this time it became cold, is it normal ?"

"It isn't... try using your rings and let me see."

After weeks of training he could do everything much faster, throwing a fireball had became an habit, he didn't need to think about it to make it, same for his ring as it appeared whenever he used mana.

His first golden blades ring appeared followed by a light blue ring, this one looked like it was made of ice or glass. It was very beautiful and gave off an ethereal vibe, you could see through it a bit and a part of it was reflecting the light so it shone way more than his first ring.

"It's the first time I see this... try throwing a spell."

Thomas started to gather mana in his palm, like everytime the mana became visible to the naked eye but this time it didnt change to fire, it stayed in the form of pure mana. Thomas looked at little Thomas with questioning eyes.

"What is happening ?"

"I don't know ! It's the first time I see something like this as well..."

At this moment both his rings started to spin behind his back when he looked and unintentionally focused on the new ring the pure mana started to take shape, slowly infused by a hue of blue, it started to solidify and chilled the surrounding. Soon he was holding a ball of ice

"How did you do this ?!"

"I don't know it came alone when I looked at the second ring !"

"Dual elements... I've heard there are people that can use dual elements or more but I thought it was only a rumor as I've never seen one for real !"

"It's obviously a good thing right ?"

"I guess it is. But you'll attract too much unwanted attention, if you can try to avoid displaying your rings, do it."

"What's the point ? I understand what you are saying but at the moment I didn't make any enemy so the first reaction of people after seeing that I'm a rare dual elements mage should be to try and get me on their side."

"If you decide to join a faction the rest will panic and could harm you..."

"Then I won't join a faction for the time being, as promised shouldn't we be headed to the outside world now ?"

« Yeah... »

He said reluctantly, he had already promised so he couldn't go against his word or else he might lose his only chance to get revenge.

later the same day Thomas was walking in front of the floating little Thomas when they reached the blazing part of the forest, now that his body has been enhanced he could go in without feeling any pain, in fact he felt comfortable there. They were still walking when they heard a whimper, it seemed very small and febrile like a small puppy that had been injured. Thomas made his way toward the sound to check where it came from, he happened on a red puppy, it was extremely cute with its little watery eyes, it was the size of his palm or maybe just a bit bigger. Thomas had always loved dogs but when he was on earth he lived with his parents who hated animals and then moved to an apartment where the rules prohibited owning pets.

« Hey little Thomas, is this a normal animal or a baby beast ? »

As the puppy was red he was almost certain that it was a baby beast but who knows ? This is a different world after all.

« I think that can be a fire wolf... it shouldn't be this small but it's maybe a cross breed or a mutated beast. »

« Then is it possible to keep it ? »

« Some rich people do so but it cost lots of money to make it grow normally. »

« Then im gonna keep it ! I'll find a way to make money, at worst I can open a restaurant ; people will love my cooking ! »

The little guy was a bit injured, he had a scratch on his front right paw but it wasn't much so after tying it with a bit of clothes he left it be.

He moved near the puppy and slowly put a hand near its mouth to show that he didn't want to harm it, even though it was still small it was after all a wild beast. The puppy looked at his hand, sniffed it and then licked the tip of he finger. It should have understood his intentions, he picked it up and moved it toward his head then both of them stared into the other's eye.

Finally the puppy barked cutely and rubbed it's head on Thomas's.

« You really know how to act cute you little monster ! » he said laughingly.

« I should give you a name right ? Let me think for a while and I'll tell you your name later ! »

He was already speaking to the little dog who was looking at him confusedly, at the same time little Thomas was also looking at him weirdly.

'Is this guy speaking to an animal ?'

It wasn't weird to see someone speaking to their pet on earth but on this planet it was very very unusual.

At the end of the day they still didn't make it out from the wood, when they were planning to set the camp for the night they heard another sound. Similar to the little dog but without the cuteness, a deep growl that would make your hair stand on their end. From behind a tree appeared a dark silhouette, it was as big as a car on earth. They couldn't see what it was as it had its back to the glowing burning part of the wood.
