Second dungeon

Sky was left in the ship wondering if someday he should have a crew and a ship of his own. The system gave him all this information yet he can't access most of them because he's not the captain. In fact he can't even find out what the functions are until he is a captain of a crew.

"Hey, Sky." Morgan walked beside Sky.

"Hm?"

"Follow me to my quarters."

Sky followed Morgan inside his ship. There was a desk, a swivel chair, a bed, some worn out candles, and a locked chest.

Morgan sat down on his desk and looked at Sky.

"I forgot to ask but do you know how to fight? You said you wanted to kill monsters but I just want to be sure."

"Yeah, I can use a sword."

Sky didn't want to bring out his staff.

"Is that so? But how come you aren't carrying anything on you except your clothes?"

{The skill {eye of truth} is being used on the player}

"I do have stuff but they're in a… safe place."

"Oh… crap, I should've said something before we left."

Morgan grabbed an item from underneath his desk. It was a sword sheathed in leather.

"Take it for now. I wanted you to use range weapons but we don't have any after all our hard work got stolen by the last crew member."

"You said that, how much did he steal?"

"A lot. A lot… the good news is that we found him yesterday dead. Bad news is whatever he stole is gone for good. Years of progress gone."

Sky took the sword but the captain held a firm grip on the sword.

"Listen, Sky, I made an error to trust this man with our stuff even if I can tell someone is lying or not, it just means that anyone can change anytime. So if you steal from me, or if anybody steals from me I'll make them regret it, understand?"

"Yeah."

'Not that I would anyway, you're too strong.'

Morgan let go of the sword and slouched back on his chair.

"I really hope you won't betray us like the last guy."

'Identify.'

{Bounty hunter's sword}

{Damage 40: Requirements: Dex 5, Str 6}

Sky sheathed the sword for now and carried on his back with the strap it has attached on it.

"What exactly do you need me to do?" Sky asked.

"Roger will tell you. Since you have an absurd amount of mana on ya we can put you to work, it might seem a lot, and it is, but you'll get your money's worth out of it."

{!!!}

{New quest has been created}

{The 'pirate exterminator' crew have a lot of tasks for the player. Complete every task they give you}

{Rewards: 125 exp, 125 shells}

'Am I only going to be getting exp and shells throughout this whole trip?'

After that, Sky went underneath the ship to work, every crew member did their part, even the captain; they either cleaned, cooked, organized, were on lookout, planned ahead, or did something productive.

With nothing better to do, Sky complied, he needed the exp anyways, and with enough practice he could raise his card transformation level to level 7.

"Every barrel here, every item you see here must be transformed into a card." Roger pointed. There were hundreds of items such as food, utensils, beds, kegs, materials, drinks, and more.

Not only was it convenient to carry items in the form of cards, but it could also decrease the amount of weight a ship can carry.

While Sky got to work, he noticed Roger was staring at him, never taking his eyes off of him.

Sky understood that it might have been Morgan's idea to keep an eye on Sky. Not too long ago they were robbed, they weren't going to fall for the same mistake again.

After a few hours Sky finished transforming everything into a card except the beds which were just hammocks tied to each end.

{Quest complete}

{Level up}

{Exp: 62/800}

{Mana: 500/500}

Sky sat down, he didn't feel tired but he felt exhausted from using his skill over and over again. Sadly his skill didn't reach level seven.

All the cards were placed inside a wooden crate behind Sky. Roger came up to Sky and took the crate.

"Take a break, cap'n's orders." Roger left.

Sky lied down on the ground

"Five days…"

Sky couldn't wait to see his parents again.

But at the same time he wanted to continue finding out more about his system and getting stronger. There was something thrilling about killing monsters and grinding skills and levels, it made him feel alive.

Once his mana was recovered he went up to the deck.

All the crew members were done with their chores and were playing a game to pass the time and having fun, the same involved throwing knives on a wooden plank with a target symbol painted on it.

There was only one crew member who was still working, he was on top of the mast with a telescope keeping a lookout for any threats.

Sky felt awkward all of a sudden so he went back inside. To hang out with a group of people he didn't know, who were twice his age, made him feel awkward just thinking about it.

Sky lay down on one of the hammocks, placed his hands on the back of his head and went to sleep.

"Hm?" Sky stood up and drew his sword upon sensing a disturbance he had never felt before. It was outside the ship and they were going towards it.

"Everyone get ready! All hands on deck!" Morgan's voice could be heard shouting at everybody.

The crewmen were all getting ready and bringing their weapons.

Sky got out to see what it was. It was a portal.

"Woah."

The portal was extremely long and slim. The rims of the portal were made of what appeared to be blue lightning. The portal itself was dark and had a bunch of tiny stars that sparkled like beautiful diamonds, like looking at the sky on a clear night.

As far as Sky could tell the portal didn't stretch all the way to the bottom of the sea, it was just above the sea level.

"First time seeing a portal?" Morgan asked.

"Yeah. How did you find one? I heard they are hard to find."

"It's by chance, literally. There's no way to find a portal except by sailing around the ocean, they're easier to find in the day compared to at night, I guess you can understand the reason why that is."

"..." Sky.

'That's all it takes?' Sky thought there would be more to finding portals, but no, you just have to use your eyes and have enough luck.

'Probably should've gone alone from the beginning if this is all it takes. But if I didn't I wouldn't have known about the exp, loot share, ship controls, and crew manual… whatever that means but they have to be good if it comes from the system, right?'

The ship went inside the portal disappearing completely. The portal would remain open.

Sky was amazed to see the inside of a portal for the first time.

Looking back he didn't see the portal. It was a normal sight because it didn't mean that the portal was closed, it meant that monsters couldn't escape until 24 hours after it had remained open, humans and ships could leave whenever they wanted.

{!!!}

{Discovered a portal for the first time}

{The portal has transformed into a {dungeon} due to the player {Sky Rouge} appearance}

{Dungeon discovered}

{Sea terror dungeon}

{Monsters: sea terrors}

{Boss: ???}

{Difficulty: green+}

{Cannot leave until boss has been defeated}

'What's the difference between a portal and a dungeon?' Sky wondered. A notification popped up as if it read his mind.

{Some key differences between a dungeon and a portal. Dungeons are designed specifically for the player: Inside a portal anyone can leave but no one can escape a dungeon until the boss has been felled. Dungeon mobs drop money and items. Dungeons have a chance of having secret bosses, secret rooms, secret rewards, and secret exits}

'The system can do this as well? Wait, does this mean everyone here is trapped and nobody else knows?'

The inside of the portal was way more spacious compared to the slime dungeon. It was dark, wet, moist, and eerily quiet.

The ship was then docked carefully near some pointy rocks. The rest of the way was mostly land with some puddles of water here and there.

"We're the first ones here, we need to clear out the portal as quickly as possible before more trouble arrives. Roger, George, stay on the ship and be on guard, and if you see any ships incoming shoot them down. The rest of you follow me."

The captain led five men, including Sky deeper to the dungeon. They all carried torches on one hand and carried a weapon on the other.

Sky decided to keep the exp share on for now, he wanted to see how it worked first.

'Hm?' Sky sensed a few powerful beings hiding in the puddles of water in front of them. There were about seven, and counting.

Morgan raised his torch and everybody stopped.

"I can smell them. Be on guard."

The captain placed his torch down and stretched out his hand, from the palm of his hand a strong gust of wind came out and blew away the creatures hidden in the puddles which were really deep holes.

The creatures jumped out in unison.

Sky took a step back upon seeing the monstrosities in front of him. They are humanoid creatures with thick limbs, sharp claws, webbed feet and hands, and a fish for a head with jagged teeth. Their size was about 5ft tall.

'Identify.'

{Sea terror}

{HP: 230/230}

{Stats: Str: 10, Dex: 4, Spd: 10, Int: 12, Mind: 10, Vig: 18}

{Sea terrors are hideous humanoid creatures who lurk in dark, wet places. They rely on numbers and drag their unsuspecting prey down to the ocean with them}

"John."

"On it, Cap."

John extended his torch and a ball of flame shot out, one of the sea terrors caught fire and quickly dived back down.

That was then the rest of the sea terrors charged at the crew; their numbers kept increasing as they charged.

"Get ready everyone!"

Sky stood back and watched for a bit while everyone fought. He wanted to see how his exp share worked.

{John Pent has killed sea terror: Everyone in party receives equal amount of exp and shells: 9 exp earned, 12 shells earned}

'So everybody DOES get an equal amount of exp and money, that's annoying not to mention little for me. Turn off exp and loot share.'

{Exp share turned off}

{Loot share turned off}

'Let's see how that works.'

{John Pent has killed sea terror. John Pent received 72 exp, and 96 shells}

'That's even worse for me. Disable loot and exp share'

{Exp share is disabled}

{Loot share is disabled}

Sky saw Morgan this time kill another sea terror, but a notification did not pop up.

The part that also made Sky annoyed is that the last sea terror Morgan killed didn't drop money or exp.

'Hmm… the system did say if I was a higher rank in this party I can make adjustments to the loot and exp share, wonder if I have my own crew I can take all the exp and loot for myself?'

Sky unsheathed his sword and placed his remaining stat points into strength.

{Str: 12}

Sky joined the fight. With the difference in speed Sky could easily retreat to safety.

'Yes! This is it!' Sky was remembering the feeling, the thrill of slashing monsters.

{Dealt 52 damage}

{Level up}

{Level 21}

{Exp: 243/900}

The majority of the crew were barely gasping for air. Some had even taken several injuries.

Sky and Morgan were the only ones still fine.

"When you said you wanted to kill monsters you weren't kidding." Morgan approached Sky. "Anyways, while we take a break I want you to gather the 30-ish sea terror corpses and transform them into cards."

"Sure…" Sky stood up and got to work, he had a rough idea of what he was going to do when he mentioned he could use the card transformation ability.

The crew were ordered to carry the corpses and place them in a pile.

'After this I'm definitely leaving the crew since I already got what I came here for. I just need to complete this dungeon, get my rewards, then I'll go on my way and keep farming for more dungeons.'

Until five days go by, Sky wanted to spend his time grinding.

John, the one with the fireball ability, reached into his pocket and noticed he had something that wasn't there before, some shells. Many crew members had a bit of shells in their pockets and they wondered how it got there.

While no one was looking, Sky placed the remaining stat points into his dex.

{5 dex added}

{Dex: 12}

With the requirements met, Sky then took out his book and learned it on the spot.

{Arc slash: lvl 1: creates an arc with a slash of a sword}

{Damage: 15 + ½ of base sword damage}

{Mana cost: 10}

'Hmmm… wish it could scale damage with str and dex, still not bad at all.'

Sky's best weapon is the slime staff that scales with his int stats, the higher his int the more damage it does.

Not all weapons scale with stats. The sky Sky uses does not scale with any stats, which is why his damage is 40 damage plus 30% damage because of his level 3 1-handed passive sword skill.

And he didn't even know if skills could scale with stats either, his water slice skill didn't increase in damage even if he increased his int.

Once Sky was done transforming the corpses into cards and gave them to John, they continued to move in.

"Hm? Stop." Morgan suddenly halted.

Everyone looked at their captain.

"I sense a bit of… wind coming from this direction." Morgan led his men into a wet wall.

"Uh, Captain, it's just a wall."

Morgan placed his hands on the wall.

"No, there's something behind this wall. John, shoot it down."

John extended his palm and shot a fireball at the wall. A fake wall was revealed and led to a secret entrance. It was dark and nobody could tell what was beyond that door.

Morgan and the rest of the crew couldn't believe there was an actual hidden door.

{Found secret entrance to secret boss room}

Sky was the only one who wasn't that surprised. The system told him there is a chance he could find secret places in a dungeon.

"Captain, since when do portals have secret entrances?" John asked. This wasn't common knowledge, portals do not have such things.

All they have are mobs, bosses, and rewards at the end. Some portals are rarely irregular but not like this.

"Since never."

Morgan threw his torch into the door, it just led to a darker cave.

"John, light the path."

"On it." John threw a tiny fireball at the hallway, all it led was a deeper hallway.

"Surely… this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I say we go inside the secret passage and find out what it can offer us. Who knows, we might get more than we bargained for."

It didn't take much convincing from Morgan to convince his crew that there may be more treasure beyond the passage.

Morgan was the first one to enter the door. It was a small hallway where the crew members had to crouch slightly to avoid heading their heads on the roof.

About five minutes of walking they found the entrance to the boss room.

The entrance was made out of pure iron, it was 30 meters tall, and had carvings of a monster in the front.

{Secret boss room}

{Cannot leave the boss room once inside. Boss must be felled in order to leave boss room}

"Hm… the boss door is bigger than usual." Morgan said.

"Cap? Your orders?" John asked. Many of the crew mates were starting to have second thoughts especially after seeing the carving of the monster.

The monster had the appearance of half the body of a skinny bald man. Its mouth was opened wide and it appeared to be staring at the crew members. On its right hand it carried a trident. The bottom left had the body of a small serpent.

Sky didn't recall seeing such a design when he entered a boss room for the first time. Perhaps it was because this boss was a secret boss.

Morgan noticed his crew were getting cold feet. He could understand, the carving creeped him out as well.

"I'm going in. But when I come out none of you are getting the rewards. Any who wish to enter follow me."

Morgan pushed the doors open at the center and entered the room.

John followed Morgan, Sky followed as well. It took a bit but the rest of the crew eventually entered the secret boss room.

Once inside the room wasn't how Sky expected. It was lit by some unknown light source, there was a centimeter layer of water on the floor of the room.

The entire room's layout was made out of some dark stone that was glittery. There were some parts of the room that had hills made of the same material as the rest of the room.

"Cap?" John pointed to the other side of the room.

"I see him. I see him."

There was a creature with his arms folded against his chest, half-man, half-serpent who was staring down at the crew with red glowing eyes. He appeared to be as tall as eight meters. Beside him is his trident. His lower half, which was the body of a serpent, appeared to be longer than his upper torso.

"Cap, I've never heard or seen a boss that can use weapons!" John added. They could all see the trident.

"I have but not in the green ranked portals, only in the red portals and above."

'Identify.'

{Fallen Eel} (Secret boss)

{HP: 700/700}

{Mana: 300/300}

{Str: 50. Dex: 70. Spd: 40. Int: 60. Mind: 40. Vig. 60}

*Clank*

The doors closed making a loud noise.

The Fallen Eel grabbed his trident and rushed towards the crew.

"ATTACK!" Morgan charged head first.

The fallen eel thrusts his trident towards Morgan, with a smirk Morgan commands a gust of wind to push him upwards missing the attack, Morgan then does a flip and slices a chunk off the Fallen Eel's shoulder.

That was the difference between their speed, and it was thanks to how many scrolls he consumed until now.

{HP: 600/700}

'That single attack did 100 damage?' Sky thought it was too low. Morgan has 99 str, shouldn't he be able to deal more damage than that with a good sword?

In reality Morgan can do more damage, but his best weapon and items were taken along with his treasure.

And if Morgan had the benefits of the level-up system instead of Sky he would have done way more damage even with the same sword and stats.

*Boom* *Boom*

Two fireballs crashed on the Fallen Eel's face dealing 30 damage each.

{HP: 540/700}

The Fallen Eel raised his trident and began talking in a language unknown to them.

'It can talk?' Everyone thought.

In a few seconds rain started pouring heavily.

'It can also use skills?' Everyone thought. Sky was the only one left unfazed, it's not the first time he's seen a monster use a skill or a weapon.

{Player and crew is affected by {evil rain}}

{Fire attacks based damaged are disabled}

{Water attacks damage are increased by 100%}

The Fallen Eel raised his trident again.

"Everyone attack it now! Don't let it use any more abilities!" Morgan charged at the Fallen Eel before it could attack his crew.

But the Eel made a quick turn and with his trident, he slashed at the air between him and Morgan, creating three powerful water arcs.

Not expecting the boss to attack him with a skill, Morgan launched himself up avoiding two of the water arcs, but one managed to hit him.

{Captain Morgan is severely injured and has received critical damage: 240}

{Captain Morgan HP: 1.060/1,300}

{Captain Morgan has lost his right foot}

'Not yet!' Morgan, knowing he was about to fall, he threw his sword at the Fallen Eel. Using his skill he commanded the air to carry his sword faster towards the boss's face.

The Fallen Eel deflected with his trident, the sword carried so much strength and momentum that the Fallen Eel almost let go of his trident. There was a smile on his face.

'Fucking hell!' Morgan fell face flat on the ground.

{Dealt 98 damage}

{Dealt 98 damage}

{Dealt 98 damage}

{HP: 246/700}

The Fallen Eel felt three powerful, but slimy attacks on his back and retreated quickly before more could hit him.

Sky got his slime staff out of his inventory and began shooting.

Sky was hoping to rely on Morgan to take the boss down because he was stronger than the boss, but with him incapacitated Sky couldn't stand around anymore.

Sky continued shooting slime attacks but the Fallen Eel kept dodging his attacks.

Morgan, who was crawling, saw the situation, extended his palm towards the boss and managed to hold him in place with his gusts of air.

{Dealt 98 damage}

{Boss is below 25% health. Phase 2 commencing}

{While the boss's second phase starts it is invulnerable to any attack}

{HP: 148/700}

{Invulnerable to damage}

{Invulnerable to damage}

"...WHAT?" Sky yelled. His last two attacks, which should have killed the boss, did no damage.

'What kind of bullshit is this?!'

Above him the system was staring down at Sky chuckling to himself. No matter how many times pass, to see a noob witness a boss's second phase for the first time never fails to make him laugh.

Sometimes bosses have more than two phases, and rarely do they recover all their health after the second or third phase.

The Fallen Eel extended his arms and yelled at the roof.

Morgan, who was out of mana, faced his men. "EVERYONE! NOW! ATTACK!"

The entire crew gathered whatever bravery and courage they had left and charged at the boss.

John, who wanted to shoot his fireballs, noticed that before his fireballs could reach the boss they disappeared. He grabbed his sword and charged together with his crew.

Sky was the only one who stood behind.

{Phase 2 has begun}

The Fallen Eel had no physical changes. Except one could see static electricity flowing through his trident.

Morgan and the crew noticed it, but it was too late.

"GET OUT OF THE WATER!" Morgan shouted.

The Fallen Eel threw his trident at John, they all wanted to be on one of those hills where the water couldn't reach them, but alas they were nowhere near one and were all electrocuted.

{John Pent has died}

{Timothy green has lost 90% of his health and is paralyzed}

{John Queen has lost 89% of his health and is paralyzed}

{Morgan Broland has last 93% of his health and is paralyzed}

{...}

"NOOOO!" Morgan yelled to see his crew die.

The Fallen Eel cockily slithered slowly to the crew and grabbed his trident out of John's body. He looked at Sky, with a huge grin on his face he began slowly slithering towards him.

Sky began shooting the Fallen Eel, but the Eel dodged his attacks while it kept moving at the same speed towards Sky. It didn't want to block his attacks as he knew they were powerful.

It knew that Sky couldn't touch the water, once he does he'll be electrocuted.

Sky kept shooting and shooting.

The Fallen Eel sometimes would dodge his attacks, and other times it wondered how someone could have such a bad aim.

Once the Fallen Eel got close enough Sky threw his slime staff and sword away.

The Fallen Eel chuckled, it could tell that Sky was surrendering. It then saw Sky was touching something in front of him, something invisible.

The Fallen Eel raised his trident at Sky. Sky smiled and said "thanks for the rain."

Sky used both his arms and summoned {water slice} {water slice} creating a perfect 'X' mark on the boss's stomach.

{72 damage dealt}

{72 damage dealt}

{HP: 4/700}

(water slice is 30 damage + 20% = 36 + 100% damage from evil rain = 72 damage)

The boss cried out in pain. It quickly jammed his trident at Sky but he missed, Sky disappeared in an instant, was much faster than he had thought.

Sky then jammed the sword on the boss's neck, killing him.

{Secret boss {Fallen Eel} has been felled}

{Calculating rewards}

Sky sat down on the wet floor.

"That actually worked…" Sky knew he was close to dying. He couldn't help but smile as he looked at his speed stat.

{Spd: 52+5}

Earlier while Sky was shooting at the Fallen Eel while it was acting cocky, Sky knew that it wouldn't be able to land a hit, so it had to let his guard down and had to attack it with a water slice, which would catch him by surprise.

So, Sky thought it was best to kill the rest of the crew using his slime attack which is why the Fallen Eel thought Sky had bad aim, he wasn't aiming for him but the living crew instead.

Sky thought he would feel remorse killing crew members but he didn't. He had to do it for his own survival. Besides the crew were facing down while paralyzed, they would have drowned either way.

With the abundance of levels Sky placed them all into speed.

Sky could have placed them on int, or vig, but what worried him was the trident piercing any of his vital organs. So he knew it was best to place all of his stats on speed.

And as it turns out it was the correct move.

{Speed stat has reached 50}

{Learned a new skill}

A treasure chest appeared in the center of the room. Instead of checking his items first, Sky went up to Morgan.

"Captain?" Sky went beside Morgan.

"Sky… are they dead? My crew?" Morgan asked in a defeated tone. He already saw the boss die but he didn't care.

Sky turned around despite already knowing the answer.

"Yeah."

"I… can you just leave me here for a bit? I just want to be alone…"

Sky noticed he wasn't bleeding from his foot. He had injected himself with a needle that had red liquid that healed. Sky saw the empty syringe beside him.

'Well at least he's not bleeding to death.'

Sky opened the chest to collect his rewards.

{Received 2,000 shells, 1 strong man's shirt, 3 green sea scroll, fleeting boots. Secret item: red scroll}

'Wow, three green scrolls and a red scroll.'

'There it is again, C-grade, what's so different about it from D-grade? Also, is this an improved version of water slice?' Nonetheless Sky was happy. It is also the first skill he's seen that scales with a stat of his.

'So it's weapon damage also scales with three stats at once? Holy! And it's damage is 400! Too bad I can't use it yet.

Sky didn't have to turn around, he already knew where the bloodlust was coming from.

Sky ignored the source of bloodlust and grabbed Morgan's sword.

{Sword of the pirate hunter}

{Damage: 100} {Requirements: Str: 15. Dex: 12}

{Scales with Str D-rank}

'It's better than the sword I have, but not better than the katana I want.'

Sky took the sword. He turned around to face the source where the bloodlust was coming from.

Morgan was on the ground seething in anger as he watched Sky take the stuff his men died for.

"Captain… sorry to do this but I really need all this."

"My crew died for that."

"To be fair, they died because you led them, and it was also their choice to begin with. Then again if it weren't for them and you I wouldn't have gotten this stuff."

'Do I sound like the bad guy in this scenario? Yeah… I do, don't I? Either way I need this stuff to get stronger to reach my parents. Identify.'

{Morgan Troust}

{HP: 1,000/1300}

Sky closed his eyes. This man is strong and most likely views him as an enemy already. He knows he can't let him live or else he might target him in the future.

Killing him was the only option, and he didn't dislike the idea at all. If anything he was looking forward to it.

"I really have a bad eye for people like you who are thieves."

"To be fair, I did manage to kill the boss, if it weren't for me you would be already dead or worse."

"Yeah… I know. Still, I am the captain and that stuff belongs to my crew and I, not you."

{You have been kicked out of the crew}

"Sorry about this, Morgan."

Sky took out the green scrolls in front of Morgan. Morgan's eyes shot up to see three green scrolls.

"Wait, what?" Morgan couldn't believe it, if they're lucky only one single green scroll appears after defeating a boss not three.

{Identified green scroll using {Dead language: level 1: Able to decipher green ranked scrolls}

{Green scroll: A specific stat can be increased from this scroll}

{Stat: Permanently add 13 Vig}

"Activate."

{Vig: 25}

{HP: 600}

Morgan tried his best to move but he couldn't from his foot and he was out of mana, people can't regenerate mana as fast as Sky can with his system. Besides the moment he does make a move Sky was sure to keep him in place.

If Morgan had his weapon and his foot Sky knew he would stand no chance.

Sky then took out a red scroll. Morgan's eyes shot up again, why is there a red scroll in a green ranked portal?

{Identified red scroll using {Dead language: level 2}

{Red scroll: a skill can be learned from this}

"WAIT! DON'T!"

"Activate."

{Lightning bird: level 1}

{Summon unit amount max: 1}

{Damage: 15}

{Mana cost: 18/m}

{Summons a sentient lightning bird that does not damage the user or its party members, it will protect its user and damage what the player considers its foes. Will remain by player's side until player has run out of mana or has un-summoned it}

"Oh wow. Summon lightning bird."

A tiny bird appeared in front of him. It was tiny, made entirely out of lightning, and its design was that of a hummingbird. Not only that but it was insanely fast.

{HP: 100/100}

'It even has HP? And I can't even see its stats using identity. Weird.'

Sky reached his finger and the lightning bird landed on his finger. Like the system said it didn't hurt to touch the lightning bird.

Morgan was looking at Sky thinking. 'He got a goddamn summon out of it?'

Sky tried communicating with the bird, but it seems it isn't able to.

"Lightning bird attack that man."

The lightning bird flew above Morgan's above where Morgan couldn't reach him.

And out of its mouth the bird spat out lightning bolts directly at Morgan.

{Dealt 15 damage}

"Ow!"

{Dealt 15 damage}

"Ow!"

Morgan extended his arm to the bird, but Sky acted quickly and cut off Morgan's hand using his own sword.

{Critical hit! Dealt 264 damage}

Morgan screamed as he stood there while the bird kept hitting him.

Sky just stood on the side thinking, 'well, this is anticlimactic.'

After five minutes a new skill popped up.

{Through a series of actions you have learned a new skill}

{Summoner mastery: level 1: 10% increase to summoned units. Max amount of units able to summon: 1}

'Cool, I knew I could get a skill from this.'

{Dealt 16.5 damage}

"OW!"

{Dealt 16.5 damage}

{HP: 442/1300}

'I can also try my other skills on him.'

Sky stared at Morgan as he whispered, "slowness."

{Morgan Troust is 5% slower}

Morgan felt something slightly heavy weighing down his body.

Sky took a look at his mana.

{Mana: 482/500}

His mana regeneration is at 23 per minute, while it takes 18 mana per minute to summon lightning bird.

'Hmm… I have 15 stat points. Should I use it on Mind? No… I'll figure it out along the way.'

To put Morgan out of his suffering, Sky pierced Morgan's head with his sword, killing him instantly.

{Killed Morgan Troust}

{Received 4213 exp, 1255 shells, 1 captains hat}

{Level up}

{Level 30}

{Exp: 2496/2600}

'Wait, he wasn't wearing a hat…'

Sky thought he would feel remorse or disgust to take a human life, but he didn't, in fact he suspected he enjoyed it, mostly because he got money and a level and even an item out of it.

Sky took a look at the captain's hat. It was a typical red pirate's hat, with a long feather sticking out on the side.

{Captain's hat: green}

{100+ vigor when worn}

{HP: 700/700}

'I look stupid.' Sky thought. With the red hat, the shirt that was actually just a sleeveless green tunic, and the boots that were just blue.

He was able to leave through the exit that just opened. Before he did, a notification popped up.

{Reminder to complete the quest before leaving the dungeon}

"Oh, right the quest… Wait, I already cleared the secret boss… Ohhhh… it's a secret boss. The other boss is still here." Sky realized something important, there is another boss he can kill. The secret boss is more of a secondary option, but secret bosses are stronger than normal bosses.

The exit passage opened in case the player didn't or couldn't continue anymore. But until the real boss is defeated the dungeon will remain open.

Sky smiled.

"I think I'm strong enough to take on a boss alone, what do you think?" Sky looked at the lightning bird that was sitting on his head.

Meanwhile…

In a heavily populated island there was a little kid hiding from the men who were looking for her. There was blood all over the kid's face.

From afar she saw a ship that was being loaded and about to leave the island.

Very quietly she snuck on board the ship without alerting anyone. The ship she snuck onto had slave kids chained up to the wall of the ship, they were being shipped off. The kid was able to blend in with the kids.

"THE KID ESCAPED!"

"She killed Thomas!"

"Find her! The Warlord will have our heads if we lose her!"

Many men could be heard screaming and yelling.

She could sense the metal objects they carried and could tell if they were getting closer.

"Hey, fatso! Check the ship!"

The little girl jolted to hear and sense some of them were about to look for her.

"I don't think she's here."

A fat old man entered the ship holding a lit torch. He was drunk, sleepy, and couldn't care less.

The little girl looked down and didn't look at the old man.

"No, don't see her here." He yawned as he left the room in a few seconds.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah, I'm sure. Hurry up and leave, this ship has to arrive at Harbot's within five days."

A few minutes passed and she could still hear the man frantically looking for her. Then she felt the boat moving and she breathed a sigh of relief.

The ship was horribly maintained. On the corner of the room she felt a metal can that contained some water, using the water she wiped off the blood off her face.

'Mom, I'm sorry.' She thought as tears rolled down her cheeks.

She could sense some men outside carrying metal weapons, so for now blending it with the slave kids was the best she could do.
