"Finally it's done. I thought that I will grow older making this, " Professor Mia said jokingly.
"Are we supposed to use this hole-like thing to time travel?" Sarah said looking at the big, dark hole.
"We are supposed to write the time here and press this button. Then all you have to do is jump in this hole," Professor Cara said showing them the buttons.
"Has any of you tried it yet?" Alora said looking at everything with awe.
It looked like a dream come true moment for her. She has always been fascinated by things related to time travel.
In her childhood days, she used to watch a cartoon regularly. A cat-shaped robot from the 22nd century was the main character.
She used to focus on this cartoon as if it was her religion.
When she got a chance to stay close and learn from the professors about a time machine, she grabbed it tightly.
"No, we haven't used it personally yet other than sending our toy helicopter with a secret camera to the future. Here's the whole process in a video," Professor Wills said showing them a video where the helicopter has time-traveled to the 22nd century.
In this video, our future world's images were seen.
A few children were cycling, in the sky. The cycles have two wings attached to them.
In the next one, a man got down from an apartment. He placed his legs on the road and standstill. The road itself took him to the other side. He didn't even have to walk.
In the next clip, a woman was watching TV while a few robots were doing the work in her house.
Another clip showed up where a few students were sitting in a class, probably giving exams. Before every student, one robot was standing. No teachers were present.
They were saying something in a small mic and the pen was automatically working.
In another clip, a few robots were walking in the garden. No humans were present there.
In the last clip, a man was walking with a pregnant robot?
Sarah and Alora's eyes were about to come out of their places.
"A pregnant robot!" Sarah shouted looking extremely shocked.
"Technology has taken us far. They don't even have to work by themselves. I am feeling sad and disappointed to say this but this isn't something I am pleased about. It doesn't look healthy," Alora said looking at the screen.
"I know right, it's as if they have hands yet they are disabled. Everything is being done by the robots. This doesn't look like a world of humans, it is looking like a planet of robots where humans are guests," Professor Cara signed.
"Robots are indeed really helpful but if we become too used to them, then slowly but surely we will lose our existence, the meaning behind our lives. We will become too dependent on them. One wrong chip can turn a normal robot, evil," Professor James said looking gloomy.
"Overuse of something is always harmful," Professor Mia signed.
"These humans are probably ain't as strong as humans nowadays. Just like how we ain't as strong as humans used to be in the past," Professor Hemsworth said.
"They are like puppets of the hands of their creations," Alora signed sadly.
People present in that room couldn't bring themselves to feel happy for their future generation.
They were so much into developing the technology that they almost forgot they are humans.
"If this continues then one day they will forget how to walk by themselves. They will forget how normal things feel," Sarah said looking annoyed.
"It's probably normal for them but they are bound to be doomed one day. Now, I am scared for our future generation," Alora said looking stressed.
"We can't blame them either when we are working on building advance technology every day," Professor James said looking at the time machine.
"We are the reason behind our downfall. At least, Let's live in the moment. Let's be grateful cause we know what real food tastes like," Professor Mia said eating a burger. Her other hand was carrying a juice can.
Everyone laughed at her words but in their hearts, they were grateful.
"How about we go to the future or past by ourselves?" Alora excitedly said.
"You want to time travel?" Professor Cara asked.
"Of course, I do. It always has been my dream. Can I?"
"Of course, you can. But what about school?"
"It's off and nobody knows for how long. Probably for a few more months. I want to time travel and live there for a week at least," Alora said jumping like Sarah in excitement.
Her inside was chunking with pleasure. She felt like fireworks were blasting in her tummy.
Long gone the 'I-am-serious' Alora. It was the 'childish as a child and curious as a cat' Alora.
Everyone present there chuckled at her excitement.
"Anyone else wants to join her?" Professor Cara said looking at everyone.
"No, I am already so tired. All I need now is my bed, "Professor Mia said.
Everyone nodded.
Professor Cara handed over Alora a walkie-talkie.
"It's with advanced features. By this, we will be able to locate you. Make sure not to lose it. I am saying again, MAKE SURE NOT TO LOSE IT," professor Cara strictly said.
Alora nodded her head after taking the walkie-talkie from Professor Cara's hands.
"By the way, in which era do you want to go?" Professor Hemsworth asked.
"Maybe I would like to visit the future first. They are advanced from us in the sector of technology. So, it would be easier to make them understand that I am from the past. I don't want to take risks on my first time," Alora answered after thinking a bit.
She wanted to visit the 18th century but decided against it before vocalizing her thoughts.
The cruel stories she heard about them were enough to scare her to the core.
"Ok then. Future it is. You can jump on the hole, I will set the era," Professor Cara said going towards the computer.
Professor Hemsworth's hand collided with the juice can and it fell all over the system. The system instantly started disturbing.
"What's happening? Oh my god, I pressed the wrong era," Professor Cara said placing a hand over her mouth.
The system showed, [ Send to the 18th century, mission complete!]
After that, the whole system crashed.
