An icy shiver runs down my spine. I knew that was it, but it still surprises me when I hear it. He did it all because he sees me as a competition. How fucking ridiculous.
I'm done here, so I turn around, but I stop when I reach the door. "I was going to leave everything, you know? You could've had it all." I huff in amusement at how things turned out. "Happy birthday. Hope you liked my gift."
I slam the door shut and walk out of there, leaving all the pain and grief behind.
Once I emerge from the dungeon, my men look my way, but I don't spare them a glance as I take long strides out of the cottage. "We're leaving in fifteen."
I'm heading back to the mansion when my phone rings in my pocket. I whip it out and see Giovanni's name. I slide the screen to answer as I walk.
"Tell me you have news," Giovanni, the fucking asshole, says as soon as I press the phone to my ear.
"Fuck you, Gio. I'm not your henchman."
