Boom!

The last explosion seemed much bigger than the previous one, and it wasn't far from the position where Jack and his group were defending against their attackers. But why was the explosion so far away and not aimed at the enemies right in front of them? Simple—several convoys were heading toward the building where Jack and his team were.

Shortly after, everyone was slightly disoriented. The explosion came from a drone crashing into the last convoy approaching their allies. This move could be considered painful—after all, losing a controllable drone is quite the loss compared to a tank—but lives in this situation are far more important.

What's the most valuable thing these days? Of course, life.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Gunfire continued, though in fewer numbers. The enemy group was now at a standstill with Jack's group. Initially confident, the situation had now reversed.

"Damn bastards, sooner or later, you'll die, and I'll enjoy it!" Jack muttered, sweating coldly. The wound on his back was starting to hurt more, making it impossible for him to move.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

"Damn it, get rid of them!"

After waiting for five minutes, the roar of weapons and the scream of a man reached them again from outside the window.

"Captain, Pérez's been hit!"

Across the way, Pérez was clutching his neck tightly. From his expression and the amount of blood pouring from his neck, the bullet must have pierced his jaw.

"Pérez!" Jack rushed to Pérez, grabbing his hand as blood spilled from his neck, and he began coughing up blood.

"Sir… Reinforcements… are coming.

"Stay with me, Pérez, come on!"

After trying to do something about the wound, Jack pulled his hand away, seeing Pérez's pupils dilate. No matter what he felt now, he knew he had to protect those still alive.

"Damn it!"

Jack gripped his rifle tightly and started firing with intensity. A wave of emotions surged deep within his heart, and he tried to release them somehow.

"Walkers!"

...

The deafening roar of guns engulfed the city, while around thirty people on the street continued firing at Jack's group. Meanwhile, Jack's team was holding their ground against the unknown attackers. Men, women, and even children were relentlessly pulling their triggers, shooting at those trying to take their lives.

The machine gun ammo had run out; after all, they only had five ammunition boxes. No one had anticipated a direct confrontation with enemies of this magnitude.

Under normal circumstances, all meetings with communities outside the S.C.T. organization were peaceful. Violence wasn't necessary for dialogue, after all.

But the outsiders didn't see it that way. Their actions made it clear they had no intention of letting Jack's group live.

During all this, Jack realized these people weren't from the community of spirits, leading him to suspect the "wolves," another unknown organization.

"Captain, we won't last if we keep this up!"

"We have to get into the building!"

The fierce clash had left countless bodies lying on the dusty ground, and scarlet blood flowed from the wounds of the dead, staining the earth red.

The smell of gunpowder and blood quickly spread through the area. If it weren't for the battlefield where they were defending and attacking, walkers might have approached from a blind spot.

The battle was now taking place in a long street, with buildings providing cover, and they could clearly see the walkers approaching.

Bang! Bang!

"Quick, get into the building!"

Many elderly people scrambled into the building, some crawling across the ground while Jack's elite squad held back the enemies. Some were injured, others dead.

The situation was terrifying; the sounds of gunfire and explosions overwhelmed them. But they all knew one thing: if they held out, reinforcements would come.

Roar!

Boom! Boom! Boom!

But just as Jack was about to move toward the door quickly, he heard a roar from nearby—a sound everyone was familiar with. In the distance, he saw a man being thrown through the air as if he weighed nothing.

The sudden movement brought the chaos to a halt, and everyone's faces filled with shock and indescribable fear.

"How is that possible?!"

Upon hearing the roar of the infection, Jack's first reaction was disbelief.

Even though they were prepared to face walkers at any moment, there were exceptions—like when they encountered special-class walkers.

The situation in South Carolina was still largely unknown. Many survivors remained, but they all knew little about the special class infected.

"I can't believe it."

In the middle of the road, two enormous figures were slowly advancing toward the group that had been attacking them moments earlier. These figures were as large as the giant infected Dominic had taken down. Their eyes surveyed everyone as if they were prey.

"What's going on? How could there be infected inside?"

"They're both special-class. We're all dead if we don't handle this right.

The gunfire had paused for a few seconds, and when everyone realized what was happening, it resumed—this time directed at a common enemy: the walkers.

Who would be crazy enough to keep fighting when infected were nearby?

In the eerie silence that followed, an unspoken truce formed, and the gunfire was aimed at the walkers. But only a group of Jack's enemies were actively shooting at the infected.

"Good, let's head up now." Seizing the opportunity, Jack helped the injured as they made their way into the building.

Roar!

But at that moment, hearing Jack's voice, one of the infected immediately zeroed in on him as prey. It roared and charged, but before it could get far, a shot rang out, hitting it in the head. It collapsed heavily to the ground and rolled several meters.

Ignoring the fallen runner-class walker, Jack stepped over the body and reached the door where the infected had been scratching moments earlier.

He was puzzled. Logically, runner-class walkers wouldn't behave the way these ones were.

Some just stood there, as if awaiting orders from someone. When that thought crossed Jack's mind, he glanced at the two special-class infected.

Jack knew if everyone was thinking the same thing, they were facing walkers that could lead hordes. "It's not possible."

"Jack! Are you okay?"

Just as Jack was lost in thought, he heard Emma's voice calling out.

"I'm fine, hold on."

Jack looked at the weapon in his hands and then at the creatures moving ahead. In that moment, he knew he couldn't let them escape or let them kill everyone. "At least I'll leave proof of this place!"

Making a decision, Jack turned on the camera on his chest and moved to a more open area to help take down these infected.
