Fateful encounter

There was silence, all the girl could hear was her erratic heartbeat, which slowed down as the silence ensued and the inky darkness enveloped her.Slowly her body became like a calm lake, and her heart beat slowed down and gained a normal rhythm. Carefully, she lifted her long skinny arms towards her dirt-patched face to erase all traces of her tearful episode. Lifting her arms, however, was horrible mistake which caused her small cardboard fort to fall apart. Time slowed down as her fort collapsed initiating a series of events like a domino effect.

The fallen box caused a nearby can to roll towards a vase which shattered as it hit a can from which a box of glass bottles balanced, therefore causing the box of bottles to come crashing down on the cold cement floor. Crash! Crash! Crash!...and the noise went on for what felt like forever to Genevieve.

She squeezed her eyes shut in terror as she covered her ears with her trembling hands." Please let no one hear." She muttered silently to herself. She slowly counted to ten with her eyes and ears shut. upon reaching ten, she slowly opened her eyes carefully drew her palms away from her ears. She got solace upon seeing the same darkness and hearing the same silent buzzing of the quiet alley. She carefully reached towards reached towards the cardboard so as to begin the construction of her fort once more.

Bang!

Light flooded into the alleyway without any warning. Her breath stopped as her monstrous fear reared it's ugly head within her.

The light bathed a section of the alleyway, close to Genevieve. She knew she had to escape again. However, before she could even move a finger, she heard a powerful feminine voice yell in irritation from the direction the light originated from. " I'll check who's out there!" With those words a dark shadow stretched across the blinding light.

Genevieve looked down as she contemplated how to escape whilst feeling the wisp of despair within her grow tremendously. She looked down in despair, they had found her.She had no other choice. She clenched her fist with fearful determination, as a trace of hesitance flashed across her eyes. She hated doing this.

Her pupils narrowed into slits resembling those of a cat. As this happened her nails began to elongate and sharp obsidian scales began to form on her bare arms. Like a sloth, she looked up to the head of the feminine shadow and followed it upwards towards the feet of the figure.

Cheep plastic sandals, which exposed neatly cut nails adorned with multicoloured nail-polish. As Genevieve dragged her eyes upwards to examine the entity approaching her, the first thing that struck her was the beautiful and the warm aura surrounding her. She could not be one of them. The woman had graceful model like height, with long' healthy, curled, hazel brown hair which rolled down her shoulders across her plain white blouse. She wore loose navy pants which complemented her blouse, making her look simple yet elegant. Looking at her lightly freckled face, which was decorated with a beautiful smile, she was stunned. The woman's smile gave off a warm feeling, making one feel like their heart was butter in the blazing sun.

The woman quickly scanned the alley which was covered in inky darkness. Her oak brown eyes carefully examined the area and she spotted the glowing feline pupils in the darkness which were examining her. Her smile broadened as she moved closer to the the eyes, but it like dust in the wind it disappeared as she got a closer look at the owner of those enchanting, glowing, emerald eyes. It was a human figure. It was a young girl. She could see that the girls humanity was slowly transforming into something else, something monstrous. She carefully moved toward the girl undaunted by the child's appearance, trying not to scare her into attacking her or running away.

When the woman was a few centimetres before the girl, she crouched down and gave a caring smile to the child.

"Hey kid...." she paused but was only received by silence, the emerald eyes only stared at her warily. She chuckled softly.

"My name is Nina ....I live right through that door," she said pointing her thumb towards the door which was ajar, spilling out warm light into the alley. Genevieve continued to look at the woman warily, she knew this woman..... Nina was not an enemy, but she could not trust her or anyone so easily. She nodded at Nina but her arms and eyes did not return to normal. All Genevieve could think about was getting away from here and escape this place before they could find her.

"BTW, or how is it said these days?" She sighed jokingly as she rubbed the back of her head in a light-hearted manner." oh well," she dismissed then continued" soooo, what's your name? and what are you doing out here?" Genevieve looked at the woman carefully, she felt a strangely drawn towards her and her warm aura told her she was a good person. Could she take this chance? Taking a deep breath Genevieve came to a decision.

She parted her lips, but before she could even utter a word, a gruff voice could be heard speaking in a loud tone at the entrance of the alleyway. " Boss!I think I've found her!"

The woman's smile was washed away and Genevieve's words were caught in her throat. Genevieve stood up ready to fight, she would never go back.
