Ch 4

There's a depiction of self harm in this chapter, so you can skip that part but yeah, don't skip the chapter.

Abhi's tears started flowing as he stared at the blank screen of his computer. Wiping his face, he continued writing non-stop precisely even though his eyes were puffy and blurring from crying.

He stopped, as his tears refused to stop no matter how persistently he wiped his eyes. As tears continued to stream down his face, he looked at his ceiling blankly, his thoughts unknown.

As he wiped the tears again, his sleeves slid a little, revealing his muscular forearm, filled with small knife wounds and scars covering his entire arms.

Taking a deep breath to calm himself, he decided to close his eyes for a few moments trying to focus on few of his great memories like the times he had spent with his sister.

It worked fleetingly as a smile adorned his face in his tears for a moment, however the haunted memory of his PC, resurfaced in his mind once again, renewing that haunted time.

He frowned, as he was already late on his posting schedule but that tormenting memory refused to leave his mind.

Veins throbbed on his forehead as he punched his forehead repeatedly, hoping desperately that the pain would distract his mind.

This attempt of distracting himself through self-inflicted-pain failed miserably. Smiling ruefully he started searching in his drawers, looking for his favorite pocket knife, which was being used frequently, recently.

But despite searching every nook and cranny of his drawers and room, he couldn't find his treasured knife anywhere.

Furious at losing his precious ( pocket knife), he punched the wall adjacent to him, careful to not break any accessory on the wall. His repeated blows of hitting his bare knuckles on the wall not only tore it open but the thumping noise stirred his sleeping parents.

"What are you doing?" His mother shrieked at being woken up at the dead of the night. "Useless Son! You are going to disturb your parents sleep, now." His father, Rajesh annoyed shout echoed in the house as he banged his son's room door.

"I am sorry, accidentally dropped some things while studing." His tears stopped flowing upon listening to father voice, he answered trying to hide his cracked voice from his furious father, whose face had gotten red at his precious sleep being disturbed.

It wasn't like anything would change even if his parents or his sisters got to know that after locking himself in his room he spent his time crying, cutting, and harming himself.

Nothing would change, his parents weren't the type to soften down on him. They would only shout at him telling him that his mentality was weak and that there were countless people in this world with their living conditions worse than him but they were still struggling to achieve their dream or should we say someone's else dream.

But what they wouldn't notice was that people in even better situations than him can kill themselves sometimes and they were by no means weak. They were just tired and more courageous than their colleagues, their courage helping them in doing suicide.

Lost in his emotions, Abhi didn't notice his nails piercing his left arm nor his father who was telling him to open the door.

Knock! Knock! Bang!, " Are you opening the door or not?" Rajesh with his eyes bloodshot and face red in exertion due to lack of sleep and anger, hit the door with all his strength upon receiving no response from his irresponsible and worthless son.

His father's kick and the loud sound that followed an instant later snapped Abhi out of his reverie, and he hurried to open the door while hiding his self-injured hand inside his sweater-like shirt sleeve.

" What happened, Dad?" He opened the door slightly and had barely finished asking before he was pushed aside as Rajesh threw the door opens forcefully while entering his son's room without any regard for his son standing behind the door.

Abhi hurriedly backed up familiar with his father's habit of hitting him with the door whenever he was angered.

Upon entering the room, the first thing Rajesh saw was his son's computer running effortlessly in the middle of the night. Howeve, it didn't matter that instead of a game or anything else, his coaching app was running on the screen.

The time it took his son to open the door would have been enough for him to change the app more then five times.

Already aware of his son's disinterest in studies and history obsession with games, he trembled with a clenched fist as he searched his room around for Abhi's phone.

"What are you looking for? Tell me, I will find it for you." Abhi asked hesitantly, his sixth sense was tingling, and his experience was helping him in foretelling his immediate future.

"Where's your phone?" Unable to find what he was searching for, he demanded harshly, his ferocious bloodshot eyes only softening upon seeing that his sleep-deprived daughter was rubbing her eyes as she gazed at him in confusion.

Bracing himself for the upcoming impact, Abhi clenched his teeth as he offered his unlocked phone to his dad, whose anger flared upon seeing that he had called his damned friend recently.

Abhi left alone in his room sighed in relief as he unclenched his fists and spat a bloody spit. Locking his door again, he called his friend because he had just been beaten up, although he had called him 5 hours ago.

"Why are you calling me in the dead of the night?" His friend's voice echoed in the room as Abhi caressed his red cheek.

"So what, it's not like a night owl like you would be sleeping at this time." Abhi took a deep breath to compose himself.

"When and why did you steal that?" Abhi casually accused his best friend of theft and the accusation was serious as his 'PRECIOUS' was stolen.

Their argument would have continued for a while, but Abhi's parents were worried sick as Priyanka was refusing to take medication despite struggling with sudden nausea.

After much coaxing and secret deals, she finally relented and took her medicine while pouting and glaring at them unhappily in her cute Micoman pajamas.

Looking at her incredibly cute self, Rajesh was struggling to suppress his smile lest he fanned the anger inside her. This self and love he was displaying was far different then his ever violent and always irritated past self, he had shown to his son.

After petting her head and singing a lullaby to help their daughter sleep quickly, they carefully closed the door making sure it didn't creaked.

Approaching Abhi's room with silent footsteps, they peered into his room sneakily and found that their son was still studying, arousing their suspicion.

Stopping her husband, Savatri entered Abhi's room and stroked his hair while asking lovingly with a smile, "Are you still studying, you weren't playing with your phone were you?"

"No mom, I am just finishing organising my coaching notes before going to sleep." Abhi didn't even glance at her as he continued to write in his notebooks.

"You father loves you and only want to see you successful, so don't take his shouting and beating to heart and study diligently. You know that my dream is to make you an RAS officer, right?" She kissed his forehead forcefully, satisfied she stopped disturbing him.

Suddenly, as soon as her words finished someone scoffed lowly in the room.

Well, Yeah I took a long ass break and maybe it extends to a month now. Some shit happened and my mind was all messed up despite recovering in about 2 weeks, I couldn't bring myself to write so much unlike my character Abhi.

I know nobody read it and there's no meaning in writing this but I just don't want to keep it inside my chest.
