"where are you taking me? " Flame complained as Nuriel led her down yet another hallway.
They had been at this for a while now. And her feet were not thrilled about the cruel torture she was making them endure.
The stairs were a real pain and she was not wearing shoes. Not to mention the ridiculously heavy cloak he had forced her to wear. It was a magnificent deep blue with golden embroidery. But all it was doing at the moment was adding unnecessary weight to her weak form.
"Why didn't you just build elevators in here? "
He glanced at her over his shoulder. Though he made no intention to slow his pace.
"Build what you ask? "
" Elevators!... You know, structures that can take you up and down a building! " she was wining . But she had ample reason to do so.
" Why would I do that? in case you haven't noticed, I have wings, " he said it as if he was explaining a complicated math formula to a slow child.
She groaned as she tried to keep up with him.
But then he finally stopped in front of a wide and open door.
"Come along, " he gestured inside and she slowly entered the massive room.
It smelled of aged papers. That nice smell you got when you entered a library.
And a library it was.
"Wow, " she took in the breath taking view. Books had always been a love of hers. Any piece of literature she could get her hand on she had always kept.
There were racks upon racks of them. Going all the way up to the high ceiling.
She honestly felt like a child in a candy store.
So she took advantage and started looking around. Running from one shelf to another. Tracing her hand across the covers.
Nuriel observed her. Took in the bewildered smile on her lovely features.
It was the first time he'd seen her smile.
And the action was infectious if he could say the least.
Then she took out one book and opened it. Her smile disappeared.
" What language is this? "
She flipped the pages, studying them closely, then she looked up at him, her brows knit together.
" It's Celith , the main tongue of Zalian, "
" Are all the books here written in....."
" Celith, " he reminded her and she snapped her fingers then pointed at him.
"Yeah, that, "
He shook his head. Then he went to the opposite rack and retrieved another book before handing it to her.
Flame returned the one she had and studied the new one.
" Mind of the soul? What is this? " It didn't sound like something she would particularly be interested in.
He shrugged, his broad shoulders rolling with the action.
" I have no clue. I just thought you wanted one in a language you could understand, "
She shook her head but decided that she would keep the book.
"Anyway, that is not the reason why I brought you here. We still haven't concluded our discussion, "
Right, Flame thought, their discussion.
He led her to one of the tables in the the room and gestured for her to sit. And after she did, he stood a few steps away and crossed his arms.
The sooner he was done with the tale the better it would be. He reminded her to not interrupt him.
Then he begun.
