Ch 53 – Elizabeth, the Ice Princess

Walking back away from the open street, Braun watches the light blue, fancy cart run past him and his slime that sits atop him eating its own blueberry ice cream.

'You see that cart over there?' Braun said, pointing at the cart in the distance with his right arm while licking his ice cream.

'Yes, that cart is so cool! Especially those horses!' the slime said, its body trying to mimic the horses but horrendously failed, instead of becoming a mighty, but tiny steed, the slime transformed into a puddle of slime on his head.

'Well, there's a big bad girl inside it that we have to defeat.' Braun said.

'There's a bad guy inside?' the slime inquired, curious on what could be inside that cart.

'Yes, she's a foe we must defeat so we can become stronger and reach the final boss of this world.' Braun added, his mind sending visions into the slime's consciousness.

'Uoohhhh! Bad guy!' the slime shouts, its body returning back into its slime form all fired up.

'You want to fight the girl too? You need to know but she has a Level 6 Ice Titan and Level 7 Ice Elemental, she might even have a Level 8 Ice Dragon!' Braun said, snickering as he watches the cart in the distance go towards the large dome far away into the center of Laeborg, the arena where the greatest of trainers fight against one another with their powerful monsters.

'Yes! I'm a mighty slime who can stand tall against big bad winged lizards!' the slime shouts, its eyes set ablaze from the tug of battle.

'Well keep that energy for later because we're going to fight her soon.' Braun said, turning his body around and slowly walking to the dome in the distance at a slow, but steady pace.

(A Few Minutes Later)

Grabbing his ticket from the woman over the counter after paying the required money, he walks out of the line while his slime bobs from his head up and down, its "head" curiously looking around the room he was currently in.

'Where are we going master?' the slime asked, its slimy tendrils still covering his eyes till now, never letting go for more than an hour.

'We're gathering info on Elizabeth, the Ice Princess.' Braun said, walking down the hallway with white walls and tiled, marble floors below him, his feet covered by leather shoes that created a tapping sound wherever he goes.

'Oh, like a spy!' the slime said, its body squirming around continuously while a "mask" of slime covers its face, well if it has any considering it has ESP and doesn't have a fixed face.

'Yes, like a spy.' Braun said, his body moving through the crowd around the hallway who walks towards the exit in the distance in excitement because the Level 7 Elizabeth is going to fight in front of everyone inside the arena, the Laeborg Arena.

'Master, what are levels anyway?' the slime inquired, confuse at the terms his master has been saying to him since the start.

'Well players, such as me who have come from Earth, the otherworld, are given miraculous abilities. Each ability is divided by levels, and to increase those ability's levels, we must continuously fight and win.' Braun explained, his head rubbing the slimy tendril that grab ahold of his shoulder while he neared the exit of the hallway, the sounds of the crowd cheery already entering his ears the moment he entered the arena.

'Oh? Then what is master's ability?' the slime inquired, intrigued at what his master's ability could perhaps be.

'It's a secret, you don't want to get spoiled for the fun surprise I have in store for you once we challenge Elizabeth now do you.' Braun said with a grin.

'A surprise? Yay!' the slime shouts in joy inside his mind, its body squirming harder than before as they walk through the exit and find themselves at the highest set of stairs in the arena.

Walking down the flight of stairs with silent steps, Braun goes down to the lowest stair he could and scoot to his right to the empty seat over there, plopping his buttocks down on the cushioned chair surprisingly enough.

'Uh, master, what is your level anyway?' the slime asked, its body twisting and turning around while glancing at the empty arena in front of them.

'You could say I'm Level 2.' Braun said as the slime above him nods its head.

Soon, everyone's eyes became fixated on the light that suddenly pointed to the right end of the arena where icy mist erupts from the ground, and as the ground retracts to show a metallic platform, Elizabeth the Ice Princess has appeared.

With long, flowing white hair reaching down to her waist, her pale white skin seemingly covered by a layer of pure, white snow. Her eyes gleamed crystal blue, wearing a flowing light blue dress ingrained with ice crystals. Looking at the crowd, her eyes glow light blue while her luscious, pink lips form a smirk.

As she appeared, the crowd let out cheers of admiration and hot-bloodedness, especially the men in the crowd who got ensnared by her otherworldly beauty.

From the other end of the stage, the ground retracts and an unassuming man pierces through the ground on top of a metallic platform, his hair the color of red and flowing like flames. His eyes gleamed with the color of vigorous orange and wears a brown, leather shirt, black jeans, and a pair of brown boots.

"In the right, we have Elizabeth the Ice Princess! Known for her ice monsters who can freeze even the warmest of hearts, she is rivaled by few in the monster fighting scene!" the announcer shouts with a voice that riled up the crowd.

"And on the left, we have Ethan the Pyromaniac! Known in Laeborg as the Flame Bearer! With his fiery youth and hot monsters, his flames could melt even the coldest of hearts out there!" the announcer shouts, his voice full of vigor like a bursting flame.

As the crowds cheered, Ethan smirks at Elizabeth who only glances at him with her cold stare.

"I've been waiting for this since I have learned about your existence, Ice Princess! With my flames of youth, I'll burn your icy heart into a puddle of warm water!" Ethan provokes, his voice atypical of a foolish main character in an anime, like really? Only fire-type monsters? Even Ice Monsters are better for like… everything! You can have water from them, build ice constructs for maybe housing or some shit, and snow! Who doesn't like having fun in the snow! I don't know because fuck my life but maybe everyone else loves snow!

Seeing that everyone is riled up enough, the announcer turns on his mic once more to start the match.

"May both contestants summon their respective monsters! Remember! This is only 3 on 3 so choose your partners wisely!" the announcer shouts, and with that, both Ethan and Elizabeth take out pristine white cards from their bodies and throw them forwards to the stage.

As both cards burst into white light, both cards turn into humanoid shape monsters.

On Ethan's side, a Level 3 Fire Monkey appeared while a Level 6 Ice Titan appears on Elizabeth's side.

As the Fire Monkey's hair of fire lights ablaze, the ice Titan glances at the monkey with lifeless eyes, the surrounding area around it slowly being covered by ice as a chill runs up the monkey's spine.

"Ice Titan, finish that stupid monkey already," Elizabeth orders, her eyes glowing a darker shade of blue as the skeletal figure of the Ice Titan lets out a loud roar that caused a shockwave to form.

Stomping its right, jagged leg to the ground, a spike of ice forms right below the Fire Monkey within an instant, and just like that, the spike pierces through the Fire Monkey's stomach while its eyes shot wide open from the pain.

"M-Monke!" Ethan shouts in horror as his monkey returns back to card form and shoots right back at him.

"You! You're not getting away with this! Come out! Porky!" Ethan shouts, taking out another card from nowhere and throwing it to the stage, and what soon formed was a boar with manes of flames, smoke shooting out of its nostrils and squealing at the Ice Titan in rage.

Snapping her finger, the Ice Titan nods its head and looks back at the Level 4 Ice Boar with a malicious grin.

Slamming its left leg to the ground, the whole dirt ground around it turns into ice as Porky struggles to stand upright on all fours due to the ground being slippery.

Crouching down slightly, the Ice Titan shoots forward like an ice skater and moves through the ice at a swift pace with grace. Like a demon of snow, Porky senses the danger behind it.

"Porky! Behind you!" Ethan warns Porky, but to no avail as the sharp, jagged claws forms on the right arm of the Ice Titan that appeared behind Porky like a flash.

Swinging its sharp and dangerous claws without mercy, Porky squeals out in pain as blood spews out of its back running down to his fat stomach.

But Porky held on, lighting up the mane of fire on its back, the ice around it hastily melts down while the Ice Titan disappears once more.

Turning around with wary eyes, Porky tries to find where the Ice Titan has been and notices the mist slowly covering the area around it.

"OINK!" Porky shouts, the air around him combusting into flames and the mist melts away, but it was all a distraction and just like how his best friend Monke was defeated, a spike of ice shoots up from the ground below it straight into its stomach and piercing through his back.

"PORKY!" Ethan shouts as he watches Porky puke out blood from his mouth, but Porky held on and melts the ice spike piercing through his stomach, but it was a stupid move on Porky's part as it would only worsen the blood loss.

"Ice Titan, end this porkchop," Elizabeth coldly orders, and nodding its head in response, the Ice Titan slides forward straight to Porky who was huffing profusely from the pain in its stomach.

"OINK!" Porky shouts one last time, the flames of its vigor gathering on his mouth and shooting a pillar of flame towards the Ice Titan who simply slides away, efficiency and ruthlessness were within its glowing blue eyes.

Appearing right in front of Porky, the Ice Titan mercilessly rips its right arm into Porky's stomach, slicing and dicing Porky's body into two halves, and watches it explode into a cloud of light to form a card that shoots back to Ethan.

"Porky, you did well. But it's now time to avenge you two, Wolfy! Come out!" Ethan shouts, throwing his last card onto the stage and a Level 5 Fire Wolf appeared, its fur replace by orange flames while its eyes glow crimson red, anger fueling its flames to glow brighter.

Snickering, Elizabeth looks at the dog with disdainful eyes.

"Ice Titan, just end this already, I don't want to waste my time fighting a weakling like him, don't hold back," Elizabeth said, and as the face of the Ice Titan contorts to form a grin, it lets out a roar that caused the ice on the ground to explode into countless shards to the air.

Watching in horror, Ethan shouts at the realization of what the Ice Titan was about to do.

"RAAAA!" the Ice Titan shouts, and as the hail of ice shards in the air points to Wolfy, countless trails of blue light were left in the air as Wolfy's body got covered in countless shards of sharp ice, not even a trace of Wolfy's flames was left as it was completely extinguished from the Ice Titan's cold attacks.

Exploding into motes of light and forming into a card, Ethan absentmindedly grabs the card shooting back to him instinctively, and walks away from his platform after a long pause, leaving the crowd cheering for Elizabeth.

"Now that was a fun ride! Now that our beloved pyromaniac Ethan is defeated, it's finally time for the next stage! Just as what is said, Elizabeth is willing to fight 5 other lucky contestants on stage, so just raise one of your monster cards and we'll randomly point our headlight to the lucky winners who would have a chance to fight against Elizabeth!" the announcer said, and as everyone clamors to raise their cards to the air, Braun simply left his card in his pocket and waited for the perfect opportunity for his Deus Ex Machina to show its absurd power.
