Marion was shocked to hear the words that William had just said to him. Does this mean the man is kicking her out?
"What does all this mean, Will? Is this . . ."
"Go, Marion. I set you free," he said, staring out the window. He didn't turn around at all, to look at Marion one last time, and this clearly meant that William was rejecting Marion.
Even though he said that he freed Marion, it still meant the same as expelling.
Marion didn't want to beg. Hearing William's last sentence, which to him was a firm statement, Marion knew what she had to do. He turned, then swung his steps out of the man's room.
He walked quickly to his room and found Leah still there.
"Would you like to rest now, Marion?" asked Leah, who had finished making the girl's bed. Marion shook his head.
"I'm going now Leah. Thank you for your service so far," he said, forcing a smile to spread across his face.
