Mo Yan stepped out and saw a crowd shoving and pushing their way toward her; among them were men and women, old people and children. The loudest among them was a middle-aged man in his thirties. Following them was another group of villagers who had come to watch the excitement.
When the crowd saw Mo Yan, their expressions dodged and they dared not meet her gaze.
The middle-aged man forcefully shook off the people who were holding him back and, with fists clenched, charged up to Mo Yan, his face twisted with viciousness as he bellowed, "Where's your dad, eh? Call him out here, now!"
Mo Yan's expression suddenly turned frosty, and she looked past him to the people behind him, softening her tone, "Folks, my dad isn't here right now. If you have any issues, you can talk to me!"
Give an inch, take a mile - as for the middle-aged man who started off with foul language, she didn't even bother to entertain him.
