Chapter one

"This is Berk. Still sited on the northern side of well anywhere, but despite the meter-high waves and freezing cold winters and burning up summers, we like it here. We've found a way to use the disasters that broke us, we use the ice as fresh water, and as seating spots around the village until it melts away, cleaning the streets, running out to the ocean. Making a brief and beautiful waterfall. But this is not where we'll begin this story."

Back at the dragons old nest wild dragons are starting to gather

They were gathering up around their old nest, waiting for their new king to rise. Down from the deep, deep underground, a big Roaarrr filled the air. This new king was awake, and he sent out a deafening sound, that could be heard all the way to Wingmaiden island. Hiccup, Astrid and the gang heard it too.

"Did you guys hear that?" Astrid asked the others. She glanced around at the others with a worried look. Meatlug whined softly hiding behind Fishlegs. He lovingly patted her, trying to calm her

"Uhh, did Meatlug eat quartzite again" Tuffnut sighed. Fishlegs mumbled angrily at the insult. The Gronckle shortly growled back at him.

"No, she didn't. You know she gets choked in it," Fishlegs defended his dragon, who all of a sudden seemed hooked up with the sound. All the dragons of Berk looked to the sky with serious faces and braced teeth's.

"No matter what it was, we better go check it out," Hiccup suggested.

Fishlegs was so excited to get going, they hadn't seen any new dragons since they kicked Drago's ass, since then he had been spending a lot of time with the new dragon species who had flanged out over Berk.

When the sun first hit the forest closet to the harbor, the gang was on their dragons and in the air. They hadn't been out flying together for months. They had planned on following the sound they had heard earlier, it had been in the air like a humming since yesterday. As they headed out to sea, the sound stopped. The dragons stopped where they were, patiently waiting for a sign or sound. They landed on the sea stacks that circled the archipelago. They had arrived at the Fog Bank, a thick cloud bank, with mysteries and dangers. Hiccup kept looking in his spy-class searching for a dragon, a movement, anything. Nothing, it was silent. Toothless all of a sudden raised his ears, listen closely, then throwing himself on his back, desperately trying to cover his ears. Stormfly soon followed, almost falling off the edge. Hookfang came next, manically setting himself on fire, raising his wings and taking off. Toothless came to himself, his eyes were getting thinner by the second and it was clear, he knew where to go to. Hiccup mounted, ordering the others to get to their dragons before they headed straight for the Cloud Bank. Hiccup helplessly tried, getting his dragon under control:

"What's wrong bud?" He placed a hand on Toothless head, he shook it off and kept his focus to something invisible to the human eye. His ears shaking slightly and his eyes getting smaller. He sat up straight and looked at the fellow dragons, their eyes to was small and blurred their sight. The gang looked worried at each other, then followed Toothless as Hiccup ordered. Toothless led them back to their old nest, they landed near the water. Before the center of the nest was like a big volcano, but know it was splinted in ice. Hiccup stayed on Toothless, thoughtfully itching his chin. Meantime, the dragons came fully back to themselves. Toothless kneeled down a little breathing deeply. Stormfly shook her head, growling confused. Astrid joined Hiccup and Toothless, having another one of their silent conversations. She gave him a sweet smile, turning to the gang.

Fishlegs flew a little closer and almost laid a hand on the ice when Toothless growled and jumped into a fighting stance in front of the others. Tuffnut absent-mindedly patted Hiccup on the shoulders, his focus turned to the sky, he pressed his eyes together, trying to get a better focus. Hiccup shook it off him, shaking his hand against him.

"Just a minute Tuff, we are trying to figure out what Toothless is telling us," Fishlegs cut him off, joining the others again, studying Toothless. Tuffnut crossed his arms, patting his foot repeatedly in the ground

"But guys, there is a girl on the top of the ice mountain," Tuffnut said. The rest of the gang looked at where Tuffnut was pointing: The top of the mountain. Tuff was right, there, dressed in a black leather skirt, brown leather belt, a bow over her shoulder, sparkling golden-brown hair, and a coat stood an unknown girl, a stranger, an unfamiliar person. In her left hand, she was holding a stick. Tuff and Snotlout were the only once two who kept looking at the girl. The others got distracted by the dragon, coming out of the mountain right beside her. Feather spikes, going from the shoulders to the end of the tail, the tail fingers were look-alike with a Stormcutter tail. And around its neck was feathers. All in the colors: Green, blue and turquoise. The feathers went down to its chest, sharp ears and white ice looking scales shining from the late morning sun. Besides all the feathers, it had the same shape as Toothless. Toothless looked at the new dragon with curious eyes. He lifted his ears and send the other dragon a friendly purr.

"Okay, is there anyone who has an idea about what to do?" Hiccup asked the others. No one answered they were all frozen…

"I say we calmly try and talk to her" Astrid suggested.

"Good idea Astrid. Here is what we are going to do: Toothless and I will fly up there and talk to her. The rest of you stay down here. We don't want to pressure her." Hiccup slowly got on Toothless and flew to the top of the mountain. The wind from Toothless wing span woke up the others from their trance. Hiccup and Toothless landed on the other side of the big opening into the volcano, with only 30 meters between them, Hiccup could easier describe her, brown gloves, a snake formed stick and the dragon had 4 black spots under each eye. Toothless was operational so was the look-alike dragon on the other side. The girl laid her stick on the edge of the cliff and laid a hand on her dragon's nose, the dragon immediately calmed down and got friendly eyes, Toothless lifted his ears and looked at them. Hiccup greeted her friendly, she didn't say anything.

"I'm Hiccup Haddock III, Chief of Berk."

She looked at him for about 5 seconds, then she lowered her focus to Toothless who was letting out some weird noises.

"I'm Zaya, we don't want to harm you, but would like to know why you are here," Zaya said with the voice of an angle. Her focus didn't match her eyes, her eyes didn't try making eye contact with him or even looking in his direction, they were just frozen, unable to make contact with the world around them, she might as could have had her eyes closed.

"Hello Zaya, we just heard this big deafening sound, coming from the dragon's old nest," Hiccup said pointing down into the volcano, she didn't look down but continued her wild staring out in the air. It surprised both Hiccup and Toothless when she started giggling friendly.

"Ohh, that was just Armetys waking up," Zaya said with a friendly smile.

"Arme what know." Hiccup said confused, he kept his focus on her eyes.

"Armetys is one of the greatest and most powerful dragon kings of them all," she said with pride, her fist on her chest, her chin lifted slightly.

"I thought the Bewilderbeast kind was the only dragon king left," Hiccup said. She lifted one finger out in front of her, shaking it back and forth.

"No, no, no. The Bewilderbeast might be the only one in this archipelago, but the world is a lot bigger than this. I have seen them all, I have trained them all, from Armetys to a Terrible Terror." She said she didn't say anything about his staring. Without asking she started talking:

"A couple of years ago, there was a big war. Countless dragons captured and slaughtered, me and Dusk." She laid her hand on her dragon's head.

"We tried to save them, but there were just too many of them, we managed to save a bunch of newborns," Zaya said with a sad look. She looked directly at Hiccup but still didn't, as if she were seeing right through him. Her eyes were grey/green, almost like she was… blind.

Toothless pushed Hiccup in the back, demanding some attention.

"Ohh yeah, sure… this is Toothless. We to have faced the dangers from dragon trapper's, so we know the price of hard work. I lost my father, our tribe's chief, to Drago Bloodfist." Hiccup said. Zaya's face dropped for a second in surprise, her gaze firmed, remembering Drago Bloodfist.

"I know this might be weird asking of you. But what do you say about coming down talking to me and my friends?" Hiccup asked.

"I would prefer if we went inside the volcano," Zaya said. Hiccup nodded. He whistled and dragged his sword, set it on fire and signaled to the others. When the rest of the gang were halfway up the mountain, Zaya picked up her stick and mounted Dusk who flew straight into the air. They turned shortly after and passed Hiccup on Toothless, who was still standing on the cliff-edge. The gang followed. Inside the volcano, everything was turned into shining crystals. Zaya and Dusk landed at a grounded spot away from the crystals, she let out both arms spinning around, introducing them to the completely changed volcano.

"Please be my guest, go explore this place. But I must warn you, don't touch the ice." Zaya warned with a far-away look.

"Why is it dangerous, like Windshear's tears," Tuffnut said excitedly, banging his helmet into Ruff's.

"First let me introduce you to them." Hiccup paused her, she nodded and gestured for him to continue, she stood in front of them, her eyes lowered, listening peacefully to their every move.

"Okay, so that is Tuffnut and his twin sister Ruffnut, over there doing some notes that is Fishlegs. And the person sneaking in on Fishlegs that is Snotlout. And final and most rational we have Astrid and Heather." Hiccup said with a smile. She gave a small jump and grabbed her stick when she got shocked by Fishlegs scream. She calmed down when Dusk purred up her left side, licking her hand. She patted him and smiled shyly.

The sound the gang had heard earlier filled the air again, much louder and more devious. The dragons lined up ready to fight.

"It's alright, it's just Armetys," Zaya explained completely calm, loud footsteps could be heard, the whole volcano started shaking. And out of nowhere the coldest breath of air surrounded them. Zaya laughed quietly.

"He says hi," Zaya said with a big smile. The footsteps became louder, and louder, and louder. In the meantime, the rest of the gang had joined Hiccup, Astrid, Heather and Zaya at the landing spot.

Something that looked like a big ice sculpture raised from the underground. It had bright, ice look alike scales. Long ice spikes going from the top of its head down its long neck. It scales where blue, more than blue: Turkish, white and blue. Its face was frozen, unable to move.

It lifted its long tail from behind it and left it hanging right above Zaya, from the end of it a rattling sound came. Zaya took the stick in the other hand, she grabbed Armetys tale with it and was lifted to his shoulders. On the short journey to his shoulders, she had only one hand around the stick, her foot leaning against a flat spot at the end of the stick.

"This, Hiccup, this is Armetys" She yelled. The gang just stood there. Frozen. Everyone except Fishlegs who was busy, drawing, sketching and writing down. Armetys started growling slowly and kneeled down a little getting in eye-height with the gang. Zaya steadied her balance on the ice-sculpture dragon and looked firmly in their direction.

"I would prefer if none of your dragons used their fire in here," Zaya said with a newfound strict tone. She looked behind Hiccup. Hookfang was in flames. But immediately turned it off.

"Do you have any idea how cold it is in here ice queen," Snotlout yelled back, his helmet tilting from his head in anger, Hookfang growled and sneered, nervously taking a few steps back.

"I'm sorry young Viking, but Armetys is not comfortable in hot areas," Zaya said. Armetys lifted its long crystal wing and made a slide down to the landing ground again. Zaya took her stick once again and glided down its wing, till she reached one of the two massive claws he had on either wing, catching it with her stick and jumping the last few yards to the ground. Re-joining the others as she kept on discussing with Snotlout:

"Unbearable cold and snowstorms. No problem but warm and heat will make him weak and he will die." Snotlout looked very angry for a minute or two, then Armetys looked at him directly.

"If I was you, I would be careful with pressuring him, his fire is very different from other dragons, and your dragon." Stopped up pointing towards the sound of Snotlout. Hookfang calmed down.

"Won't be able to save you. He spits cold fire. That is so cold it burns on your skin. Have you ever tried feeling the heat from a dragon fire, I'm sure you have, but this is like freezing to death, but it's still so cold you feel like being burned alive." Hookfang laid down flat on his stomach and purred briefly, surrendering. Armetys took a small step back and disappeared back into the depths below.

Zaya invited them all to stay for the night. In a small cave underneath the ice, was where she let them to, she cooked for them and welcomed them inside her home. She didn't have many things of hers in the cave, wood plates with different dragon teeth are lined up, next to each other. Above them were some rather big holes in the roof, letting in light, different times on the day.

Hiccup woke up in the middle of the night. He untangled himself from Astrid, he smiled at her and rubbed her cheek gently before he left the cavern. The center of the volcano stood perfectly letting in the rest of the moonlight before it slowly disappeared out of sight. All of a sudden Zaya was standing next to him, she had the stick in her left hand, in the few hours they had known each other, both of them felt a weird, unexplainable connection. Hiccup hadn't reacted on it, just tried to push it off him.

"Oh, hey Zaya. Thank you for letting us stay the night." Hiccup said breaking the silence.

"No problem. So you and Astrid are a thing huh... Of course, you are the warrior and the chief. From what I have heard these last hours, you guys actually seem perfect for each together." Zaya said. She sends him a smile.

"Can I ask you something?" he asked her. She nodded firmly, gesturing him to go on while weighing the stick back and forth.

"How did you survive out there, how do you know how dangerous Armetys' ice fire is?" Hiccup asked carefully, she sighed lowering her gaze.

"When I was 14 years old, my entire village got destroyed by dragons. We all rushed to the boats, but I got trapped in one of the burning huts. I was trapped and alone, but this Deadly Nadder heard me crying. It saved me, he broke his wing in the attempt, we couldn't escape on our own, but the other dragons grabbed us and took us with them to Armetys. I have been living among them for the past 6 years, I named him Dande. He died a few years ago -old age-" Zaya said, a tear rolled down her cheek.

"I'm so sorry," Hiccup said.

"It's fine, things got better after I found Dusk." She took a short break before continuing.

"So, the ice, let's just say, I had just lost my village, my family and Dande within a year, Dusk tried to reach me but was too late, my hands landed on the ice. The pain was unbearable, in confusion I rubbed my eyes with my hands. I don't know how long time passed, but when I woke up, it was as pitch black as the darkest night, the veins in my hands cold and frozen. The ice froze my oars and made me blind. Dusk helped me a lot the first couple of years. I used all my other senses and created this life." She stabbed the stick into the snow beside her and removed her leather gloves. Underneath the gloves, her skin was as white as ice.

Zaya put the glove on again and walked away, leaving Hiccup in the moonlight. He stood there a few minutes more, before he slowly walked back to the cave, and laid down beside Astrid again. It took him a long time before he could

The couple woke up later than the others. He placed his hand on her cheeks and kissed her, she chuckled lightly, smiled and opened her eyes, meeting his. Outside the cave, Zaya and the gang where talking, especially Fishlegs and Zaya seemed to get along quite well:

"So what is his maximum speed?" Fishlegs asked with his notebook and pen ready.

"Well, I think the fasted we have been flying is 18," Zaya replied while stroking Dusk's scale.

"Amazing. Hey, Hiccup isn't that faster than Toothless?" Fishlegs asked smirked, Toothless heard him and growled annoyed before laying back down covering his face with his prosthetic tail. Hiccup placed both hands on his waists and chuckled at his dragon, nodding back to Fishlegs.

"Every dragon has a legend. Do you know theirs?" He asked her.

"Well, legend has it, that the Star Chaser species go back to the time when Thor himself was born or something like that and after his birth, The Gods started noticing falling stars in the sky. Turned out it was Star Chasers flying in the night. Their white skin shined through the darkness. From then on, every time a shooting star is to be seen in the sky it is supposed that Thor is in a good mood and want to share this magic view."

Heather looked at them with a far-away look and crossed arms. They walked off to the cliff down to the deep, to get a glimpse of him in the air.

Back with the others the rest of the gang gathered up around Hiccup's map which he had unfolded over a rock.

"So what is the plan Chief?" Snotlout asked.

"I don't know, let's just earn her trust and then we can see, maybe she wants to come back to Berk with us. Dusk can come with her." Hiccup said gesturing to her and Dusk flying together in perfect harmony. They glided through the cave, circling the spot where Armetys had been raising. The gang was all amazed by her flying skills and precision with the dragon.

"I talked to her last night. She lost her entire village, her first dragon died a year later, she is all alone." Hiccup said. He crossed his arms, trying to imagine how it must have been like.

"And it seems like she and Fishlegs are getting along quite well." Hiccup finished, Snotlout stood beside Heather and gave her a gentle elbow in.

Teasing her, laughing evilly, Astrid walked up behind him and tumbled him over, placing one foot on his back and her ax at the back of his neck.

She slowly pressed her boot a little firmer on his back, moving her ax a little closer to his neck. Snotlout mumbled angrily before getting up to stretch his muscles.

They spend most of the day relaxing before Hiccup gathered them up and said it probably was time to get going.

"Zaya, it has been a pleasure getting to know you and your dragons, but we really need to get back to our own island." Hiccup said having one hand on his chest as if he was sorry to leave. Now Fishlegs started mumbling angrily, irritated not to get any more info on all the new dragon species.

"Yes, of course, it was great having someone to talk to again. My one-on-one communication with the dragons can get pretty tiring." Zaya laughed Dusk shook her head at her and leaped out from the cliff edge, disappearing. Heather walked up to Zaya and laid her hand on her shoulder.

"Maybe you and I can talk," She asked friendly. Zaya nodded. They left the others, sitting down on the rocks, close to a secret exit in the side of the volcano.

"Listen Zaya, I know how it is to be alone out there. I was lucky enough to find Windshear, just like you found Dusk. Or well, more like they found us… Right. I guess what I'm trying to say is... Come back with us, come with us back to our Island, you would fit in perfectly on Berk." Heather suggested.

"I don't know Heather, what about Armetys and the other dragons?" Zaya asked. She looked away from her, Heather followed her gaze, she was looking right at Dusk, as if she could actually see him flying up and down.

"If they stay here, they will be safe, and you could still come and check on them from time to time," Heather said. Zaya looked down, but a smile was forming on her face. She nodded slowly.

"I will try it. And if it doesn't work out, I will go back to live with Armet…" Heather cut her off with a hug. She pulled her from the rock and dragged her back to the others, arm in arm. They all smiled at them, she quickly packed her few belongings and said goodbye to her family those last 6 years. The journey home seemed awfully long to Zaya as she kept gazing over her shoulder until the volcano got out of sight.

Back on Berk, everyone welcomed her, she would be living with Heather for a start, at least until she could get her own hut or continued sharing with Heather since she had to get back to Berserker island in just a few days.

She walked around very careful, trying to learn where all her things were placed, she used her stick as guidance since Dusk couldn't be in the house

"You will soon get more comfortable being here," Heather assured her while helping her unpack, she felt her hesitating with unpacking and got worried. Zaya seemed far-away in her own worries when Heather interrupted her thoughts, she jumped slightly at the sudden movement. She nervously looked down.

"Don't worry, soon the twins and Snotlout will do something stupid and take the focus off you," Heather said with a laugh, Zaya laughed too.

They were busy packing out when she and Heather heard someone yelling at each other just outside their hut, it was Tuffnut and Snotlout.

They both laughed and went outside, Dusk quickly came to them and purred up behind them. Outside their hut, they saw Snotlout and Tuffnut standing a few meters from each other, both raised voices, angry faces, and one foot pointed in the others direction. They came out in time to hear Snotlout yell:

"Oh yeah, well ask my fist." Snotlout threw a punch against Tuffnut, but he ducked, and Astrid -Who hadn't seen it coming and was casually walking to see what caused all the trouble- was hit right in the face, she landed on the ground, the gang gasped. Heather rushed to her and supported her arm. Her nose was bleeding, but she didn't care, she walked straight towards Snotlout, Heather grabbed her arm trying to hold her back. At that moment Hiccup came around the corner. He placed himself between Astrid and Snotlout.

"What happened?" He asked.

"Snotlout punched her in the face," Tuffnut blamed and smiled satisfied with his mistake, Astrid covered her face with her hands, but couldn't hide the blood running down over her lips. I dripped from her chin and landed on the ground, making it look more like a crime scene. Hiccup moved her hand to see where Snotlout had hit her. Her nose was bleeding and all bruised, and the bottom of her eye started swelling up a little.

"Why would Snotlout do this?" Hiccup said with a strict tone. Tuffnut shrugs his shoulders, crossed arms and looked at Snotlout. Valka pushed herself through the crowd to help them.

She gently asked the crowd to back away, so they could get through.

Valka concluded that it wasn't broken. In the meantime, Snotlout was almost out of sight… Almost. Astrid ripped herself from Heather's grip and ran towards Snotlout. It was one of those sights that could give kids nightmares, angry Viking girl, ax on her back, raised bloody fist and blood still dripping from her nose, more and more with every angry step she took. Her hand was ready to punch him in the stomach, but something was holding her back. Toothless had a firm grip in her shirt. She stopped fighting and crossed her arms in anger. Hiccup, Toothless and Valka took her back to their hut, so she could be clean of all the blood.

Zaya was lost, she had no idea were in the whole village she found herself, she had been turning and strolling for so long now, that she had lost the overview. She dumped down on a bench to relax. She felt someone standing in front of her, covering the sun. It was Snotlout, he sat down right next to her and casually took her hand

"If you should, who would you choose between Tuffnut the looser, the pea brain and me, Snotlout, the real Viking, the future hero and leader of Berk," He said in a very arrogant tone. She casually placed her free hand on the bench, feeling for the ending of the bench, there was plenty of space on her left side. She moved her body away from him, taking her hand back.

"If you want an honest answer, I think I would choose…Tuffnut," She answered with a shy smile, she stood up and whistled a special tune. Snotlout searched the sky, but his view soon got blocked by two massive wings landing in front of them. She mounted Dusk and they took off leaving Snotlout behind. She stayed in the street till the sun went down and the Villagers turned their heads toward the Great Hall. Valka found her sitting on the ground, leaning up Dusks side, Dusk sleeping peacefully and Zaya gently stroking his head. Dusk shot his eyes open when Valka sat down beside her, smiling friendly. Zaya knew she was there, but didn't know what to say, Valka felt her resistance for having a conversation but continued, she had been meaning to have this talk with her since the first time they met. She couldn't drag it out much longer. She had to know:

"When Hiccup was born, we feared for his life, we feared we would lose him. The world he grew up in, wasn't save for a little child. One night a dragon broke into our home, he found Hiccup, but he never meant to harm Hiccup or me. That dragon was Cloudjumper, he took me with him, leaving Hiccup and Stoick behind. For 20 years I felt guilty for not returning, but Hiccup found me, and we became a family again. The thing is, that when I was taken, I was pregnant, Hiccup was 6 months at that time, I had a baby girl, I loved her with all of my heart, but I knew she wouldn't be safe with me, so I had to give her up. I found a nice pair of Vikings who promised to raise her as their own. That baby girl was you Zaya. I heard about what happened to your village. For 2 years I searched the ocean within 200 km." Valka said, she got teary, and let her fingers slide down Zaya's cheek. She didn't know what to say, nor if she could believe what she had just been told. For several minutes she didn't say anything, then Dusk gently pushed her back, and she fell right in her mother's arms. Valka hugged her tight. Zaya gently pushed herself away from her and wiped off her tears

"How can you be sure? How can you know, you haven't seen me for 20 years?" Zaya asked. Valka stroke her cheek, leading her hand down to the necklace hanging loose on top of her shirt.

"Your necklace. A dragon tooth which has the Haddock sail and symbol carved into it. I gave it to you before giving you up, maybe hoping to one day find you again." Valka explained, she took the necklace between her fingers, a million small memories flashed through her mind, remembering every thought she had had when handing her over. Zaya to took it between her fingers a million memories flashed through her mind to, thinking of the many times she had asked her parents where they had gotten it. They couldn't remember, but they made her promise to never take it off. From a very early age, she had known it was something special.

"For 6 years I thought my chance of having a family was gone, but know I have a mother, a brother, and a sister," Zaya said with joy. None of them felt tired until the crack of dawn when the first sunbeams hit them. They stood up and shook the tiredness of them. Then headed back to inform Hiccup and Astrid with their most recent discovery. They found them in the kitchen. They burst in, having their arms wrapped together.

"We have something to tell you Hiccup," Valka said. Hiccup and Astrid sat very still and patient while hearing the story. When Valka was done, Zaya looked nervous. For some time he didn't say anything, he just stared at his sister, who couldn't see him staring and got nervous about his silence.

"I have a sister?" He asked slowly. When Valka nodded, he stood up straight and went to stand in front of Zaya, he placed both hands on her shoulders and dragged her in for a tight hug. He lifted her from the ground, still hugging her tight. They placed their hands on each other's cheeks and foreheads against one another. Meanwhile, Valka had joined Astrid. They to smiled big at this reunion, When they pulled away Astrid walked to Zaya and took her hand.

"Hey Zaya, my name is Astrid and I'm your big brother's girlfriend/betrothed," she playfully introduced herself. Zaya squeezed her hand and smiled.

"A pleasure to meet you, Astrid, I'm Zaya, your boyfriend/betrothed's long lost little sister," they giggled and hugged each other too.

"We have to tell everybody. Mom calls everyone to the great hall at once." Hiccup declared, he then grabbed his two girls hands and pulled them closer. No one understood why they were there. And when they saw Hiccup, Zaya and Astrid standing together, the whisper started.

"Can I have everybody's attention please," Hiccup said,

"I have something really important to announce. He then took his sister's hand, pulled Astrid closer, before continuing:

"Zaya is my sister," he announced.

"I know you guys probably have a lot of question, but when my mother, was taken 21 years ago, she was pregnant with my father's second child. We all assumed she was dead and had forgotten all about the pregnancy when she returned," Hiccup said, the crowd didn't say a word. They just looked from Hiccup to Zaya, to Valka, to Astrid and back to Hiccup.

"Snoggletog is coming up soon, it would be the perfect opportunity to celebrate my little sister's homecoming," Hiccup said, a few seconds passed, then the entire crowd broke into cheers and hooted.

Zaya stayed in Heather's hut, but just until they could make room, for her in the Haddock hut. Through the rest of the day, they pretty much just talked. Zaya and Astrid got some girl time with Heather and Ruffnut. They flew over Berk, and took turns telling Zaya, embarrassing and funny stories about Hiccup the Crazy:

"I have a good one, that time when he invented the first pair of wings for himself," Ruffnut said. They all laughed. When they got back, Hiccup gave both of them a hug. Both girls tried their best not to break into laughter but failed miserably. Snoggletog was almost here everyone was getting very excited. Most villagers stayed in the great hall, helping with the decorations. The gang put up a mistletoe at the entrance to the great hall.

Heather saw them and placed herself right beneath their ladder and looked suspiciously up at them, both hands on her waists.

"Um... well... you see Heather," Snoutlout looked around, seeking some help from the twins, Ruff and Tuff knocked their heads together. Snotlout pressed the top of his nose with his forefinger and his thumb.

"Fishlegs want to kiss you at snoggletog but he is just too shy." Tuffnut backed him up taking a small step forward, Ruffnut took an even bigger step getting in front of her brother.

"Yeah, he really likes you." She winked at her.

Heather's eyes widened for a second, she smiled big and left them with their suspicious behavior, looking over at Fishlegs who desperately tried to keep Meatlug steady while tying the lanterns to the wall.

Just then Hiccup left the hall, leaving Astrid with the decorations. Astrid started adjusting the festoon, just to occupy herself.

"So, you guys are getting married soon, right sister." A familiar voice said, Astrid, turned around and saw Zaya smiling up at her. Astrid smiled back.

"I hope he so," she admitted and jumped down beside her.

Back at the Haddock hut, Hiccup was getting the fireplace lighted, humming his parent's song. Toothless fired a plasma blast into the embers, Hiccup got shocked and took a step back just as the flames burst up. The dragon laughed at him, retrieving to his corner. Hiccup wiped of the smoke and continued picking into the fire.

Hiccup woke up to an empty place beside him, he looked around in his room, whistled lightly and listened carefully, a slight tune came from the bathroom, she peaked out from the bathroom and smiled at him, wet hair and visible shoulders. He patted the empty spot beside him as she came out from the bathroom with her red tunic, blue pants, and fur skirt. Messy blonde hair with a braid going from each ear meeting at the back. She sat down next to him and leaned up against his left side, her eyes flattering over his face. As they were sitting there rocking slowly back and forth, he discreetly felt her forehead, she had woken up during the night with cramps and headaches. She felt fine now, normal temperature, teasing glance in her eyes and red cheeks.

Astrid left with Stormfly, Hiccup stayed a while, watching them soaring over the village, heading for the forest. He saluted her goodbye, then headed for the Great Hall. Gobber had gotten surprisingly many ideas on how to run the village as his father did. He decided to simply walk there, he wasn't in a hurry, to pretend to be happy about Gobbers ideas.

Overnight, snow had completely covered the ground, trees, houses, cliffs, and especially Gothi's hut had practically been buried under a massive layer of snow, with only a little window, where piles of snow were being thrown from, most likely by Gothi herself. Outside the Great Hall Gobber and Spitelout, were waiting for Hiccup. Gobber shook his head and noticed Valka in the move. He interrupted Spitelout in the middle of a sentence and gestured towards Valka.

"Well lad, let's just ask Valka then, since tha' Chief ain't up yet," The two Vikings walked towards her with firm steps and stood impatiently in front of her. She placed both hands on her waists and looked up at them.

"Valka, can you please tell this stubborn Jorgenson why it is the best idea to store a lot of fish over the next few winter months, since the seas will be all frozen up in just a few weeks," Gobber argued, Spitelout rolled his eyes and crossed his arm.

"No Valka, you should tell this stubborn blacksmith why it is the best idea to freeze the fish down and warm it up later, or try and grow fish in the garden or inside," Spitelout exclaimed. She shrugs her head and looked up at them, then shook it against the edge of the island, gesturing them to follow her, They both looked out to sea and saw the already frozen water.

"The water is already freezing, it's too late to get any more fish, we need to settle with what we have and leave it there. No time or resources for tests or stupid tries this time of year got it, now get back to work. We still have plenty to do before Snoggletog." She shushed them off and as they walked away in each direction, mumbling angrily, she gazed back at her hut and begged her son would get himself together soon and think of the village as a number one priority. Just then he came around the corner into sight. Valka dragged him with her inside to get a count on their remaining supplies.

Not long after, Astrid got home from her flight and just sat down on the couch. Hiccup found her like that. When Hiccup arrived that afternoon she hadn't moved much. The only difference was that she wasn't wearing her red tunic, she was wearing one of his green once, it was way too big over her shoulders, but it suited her well. And as she looked over at him, the sun came through the window glancing over her perfect skin and mechanical eyes. He stood frozen with a stupid grimace over his face, which made her laugh, till she nearly fell down from the couch, he snapped out of it and walked firmly towards the opposite side of the couch, she stood up and glanced back at him over her shoulder, he dumped down beside her, pulling her legs above his, stroking them absentmindedly. They joined the Dragon Riders in the Great Hall, they had finished decorating, and everywhere on Berk, everything was filled with joy and excitement. At the entrance to the Hall, the riders had discretely put up the mistletoe. Hiccup and Astrid walked right into it. Toothless saw it before them and gently pushed Astrid closer to him, he jumped in front of them and stopped them right on the invisible X marked right under the mistletoe. Hiccup shoved him away and finally looked up, rolling his eyes. He smirked at Astrid and lifted her chin as if he were about to kiss her, instead he tilted her head backward, revealing the mistletoe. She smirked at him then squeezed his hand and laid her free on his cheek. He lifted her from the ground. High enough to make her higher than him. She broke the kiss and met his eyes, they held eye contact, when he slowly let her slide down to the ground again. He heard the others leaving the hall, but they didn't sense it as more than a whisper. A few minutes later they left the hall too. Fishlegs forgot his notebook and went back to get it, on his way through the massive hall doors, he bumped right into Heather, she fell to the ground and dropped the notebook -His notebook- in her hands. He reached out his hand, to help her up, apologizing over and over.

"It's fine Fishlegs, no damage done." She took his outstretched arm and was pulled from the ground, Fishlegs wasn't prepared for her low weight and pulled a little too hard, Heather wasn't prepared for the small flight and lost balance. Fishlegs caught her shoulders. Fishlegs blushed really hard and let go of her but, Heather was smiling, he looked down at her.

"Look up." She said pointing at something above them. Fishlegs looked up, and above them, the mistletoe was hanging. Fishlegs took her tiny hands in between his much bigger ones and smiled at her. He took both her hands over in the same hand, and with the other one he lifted her chin and kissed her. To Heather, the room was spinning as she closed her hands and felt the warmth from his lips, Fishlegs could feel, she slowly began to pull back. So he let go of her chin and took a small step back. Heather blushed, turned around and picked up the book she dropped when she fell. It was his notebook, she gave it to ham and walked outside. When she looked over her shoulder, he could see she was smiling and still blushed.
