Yao Liang's sudden kneeling surprised everyone.
They initially thought he was just bait, but now it seemed this guy was actually loyal?
Chu Yuxuan finally noticed that Yao Liang wasn't wearing the same clothes he had on when he left in the morning. It appeared he had changed after getting shot. After a brief silence, Chu Yuxuan frowned and asked, "Where were you hurt?"
Yao Liang took off his jacket and carefully pulled up his hoodie, revealing a fresh wound on his shoulder. The bloodstained gauze was messily wrapped around it.
Chu Yuxuan unwrapped the gauze and confirmed it was a gunshot wound, located less than ten centimeters from the heart. The stitches were rough, and even the slightest movement caused blood to seep out.
After staring at the wound for a while, Chu Yuxuan seemed lost in thought. He took a deep breath, helped Yao Liang up, and told Xiao Qing, "Go treat his wound properly."
Yao Liang glanced at him, lowered his head, and bit his lip hard.
"Yes, young master," Xiao Qing said as she led Yao Liang into the villa. Old Third couldn't wait any longer and asked, "Big brother, it looks like this guy really wants to join us. He even told you all this… Seems like he thinks we're stronger than Tian Ji Hui and wants us to help rescue his family, right?"
Chu Yuxuan didn't respond. He stared at his GTR for a while and then tossed the car keys to Old Third. "Take it to the garage."
He then exchanged a glance with Old Fifth, and both of them seemed deep in thought.
After a moment, Chu Yuxuan returned to the villa. Yao Liang's wound had already been bandaged by Xiao Qing, and he was carefully putting his clothes back on.
"Big brother!" Yao Liang stood up quickly when he saw Chu Yuxuan approaching. His face, pale from the pain of the treatment, was covered in a sheen of sweat.
With a serious expression, Chu Yuxuan said in a deep voice, "Hand over your gun and phone."
Yao Liang hesitated for a moment but then obediently handed over his gun and phone.
Chu Yuxuan took the phone and pointed to the sofa with his chin. "Sit down."
"Big brother, you… you don't trust me?" Yao Liang asked, panicking.
"When I tell you to sit, you sit." Chu Yuxuan's voice was ice cold.
Not long after, Old Fifth came in from the garage, holding a small metal detector. He glanced at Yao Liang and said to Chu Yuxuan, "Big brother, no tracking devices on the car. Everything checks out."
Chu Yuxuan remained silent. He tossed Yao Liang's phone to Old Fifth, who immediately took it to his computer. In less than a minute, he handed it back to Chu Yuxuan. "Nothing unusual, no call records, and no tracking or eavesdropping software installed."
Chu Yuxuan thought for a moment and then looked at Yao Liang, who had a miserable expression on his face. He calmly said, "Take off your clothes, pants too. And your shoes."
Yao Liang gritted his teeth and complied, removing his clothes piece by piece.
"And your underwear."
Xiao Qing quickly turned away out of respect.
Old Fifth used the detector to scan all of Yao Liang's clothing and then shook his head at Chu Yuxuan. "Everything's clean. There's nothing."
Hearing this, Chu Yuxuan visibly relaxed. He immediately put on an apologetic smile and handed Yao Liang's clothes back. "Sorry about that, brother. In our line of work, we have to be cautious."
Yao Liang's eyes held a trace of resentment. I risked my family's lives to show my loyalty, and this is how you treat me?
But despite his anger, he didn't dare say anything. He quietly dressed himself.
Chu Yuxuan lit a cigarette and sat down next to Yao Liang. "Alright, tell me what happened."
Yao Liang frowned and said, "It was a little after 4 PM. I was heading to the supermarket to buy some cigarettes when I ran into members of Tian Ji Hui right outside the car dealership. There were a lot of people around, and I thought about calling for help, but… they had silencers on their guns, and they shot me right away…"
"Then they dragged me into their car and told me my family was in their hands. They ordered me to spy on you and find out where you're hiding Liu Jun. If I couldn't find out in two days, they told me to kill you when you least expected it. After they left, I wanted to call and tell you right away, but… my family is with them. I… I didn't know what to do…"
Old Fourth, sitting in front of a statue of Guan Yu, tightly gripped his crucifix and stared at Yao Liang.
Chu Yuxuan flicked his cigarette ash and smirked. "So why did you decide to come clean and confess to me now?"
Yao Liang twisted his neck awkwardly before finally speaking. "Our entire squad was wiped out by Tian Ji Hui before. Even if I help them now, my family… my family is as good as dead once they're done with me!" He then turned to Chu Yuxuan, his eyes full of desperation. "Big brother, please! Help me! Save my family!"
These words sounded much more sincere than any claim of loyalty or talk of being impressed by Chu Yuxuan.
Chu Yuxuan's gaze remained skeptical as he silently finished his cigarette, extinguishing the butt in the ashtray. "So tell me, how exactly do you expect me to help?"
Yao Liang's face darkened with uncertainty, and he shook his head. "I… I don't know. Big brother, can't you think of something? My parents are already in poor health. I'm really worried about them! I'll do anything you ask, as long as you save them!"
As he spoke, this proud seven-foot-tall man knelt down before Chu Yuxuan again, sobbing uncontrollably.
Xiao Qing couldn't help but be moved and turned her head away, unable to watch.
Old Third cursed Tian Ji Hui in his mind, his anger boiling.
Old Fourth continued reading his Bible indifferently, while Old Fifth pursed his lips, deep in thought.
