CHAPTER 220: OUTCLASSED

Martin watched the destruction before him and when he saw what remained of the once prestigious Enigma-Ancient City, a city that was always compared to their capital city, he couldn't help but feel his blood rush to his head.

Still, he knew not to allow his emotions to overwhelm him and quickly suppressed his rising anger.

Immediately when the elite mages from the Goldsborn family cast their spell, he jumped down the bird he was on.

He could feel the others follow his movement, and from the sudden fall in temperature, he knew he wasn't the only one who was angry.

'Damn! Sophia is angry.'

His mind cleared a bit when he felt his hot-tempered friend was about to lose it, and for once, he didn't try to stop her and would rather she let loose.

Even from such a distance, he could feel fatal danger from the giant frozen in time, and if it wasn't for his princess who was with them, he wouldn't have hesitated to abandon their rescue mission and turn tail and run.

The Goldsborn family had no deep relationship with the Enigma Ancient family in the first place, and they weren't righteous enough to send themselves to their death for the sake of people they didn't care about. If it wasn't for the alliance their kingdom formed, they might not even have come

With these passing thoughts, Martin kicked off the ground immediately when his feet made contact with the earth, his short auburn hair flying even in the absence of wind. His space ring flashed with a silver light, and a blood-red sword appeared in his hands.

As his body turned into a blur, he arrived before one of the frozen demons.

While he wasn't close with the Enigma Ancient family, he was still human, and tasting the characteristic metallic smell of blood still in the air, he knew that countless lives must have been killed for the smell not to have diffused till now.

With his anger surfacing once again, he sent his sword in a downward stroke, causing a head with a frozen look on its face to fly into the air. No blood spurted as time was frozen for the decapitated body, and the only reason the head flew in the first place was because he temporarily negated the time spell on it.

With a red aura building around him, he moved toward the second demon and brought his sword down before advancing toward the third.

Then the fourth...

And the Fifth...

As the palpitating aura around him continued to build up with each kill, Martin's speed skyrocketed, and soon after, his figure couldn't be followed by the naked eye. The only thing that could be seen was a red sun appearing and disappearing on the earth, creating a visual impact for any observer. In less than thirty seconds, more than fifty percent of the still surviving greater demons were killed.

He wasn't alone in his rampage, as icy chains danced in the air, as they lashed out and pierced their targets before freezing their blood, and soon shattering them into countless ice fragments. The sight appeared both beautiful and chill-inducing.

As for the other mages, they focused more on supporting them. The wood element mages quickly healed Brian and the other surviving humans, while a few others joined them in killing the demons, taking full advantage of the Goldsborn mages' time spell.

Martin was just about to move towards another demon when his senses suddenly screamed at him.

Without even thinking about it, he compressed the aura that had built around him into a red layer that covered his body. With this layer, Martin's physical might was boosted thousands of times, and his defense was raised to abnormal levels. With his newfound strength, Martin knew he could destroy their world if he let loose, as even though he was still in the Red-core stage, his actual combat prowess had reached the middle of the next stage, a power that their lower world couldn't bear.

Alas, even with this formidable power, Martin didn't feel any relief, and the reason for that was shown an instant later.

A gigantic body appeared beside him like a phantom, and before his brain could even register its appearance, a fist twice as large as his body smashed into him, turning him into a bloody mist.

"Martin!" Sophia shrieked in fear as she watched her friend die before her before she could react.

However, the giant frowned as he watched the bloody mist in the air congregate before turning into Martin's body once again.

With his face pale white and his eyes flashing with fear, Martin instantly flew into the air as he took advantage of his status as a mage to distance himself from the monster before him.

Rather than chasing after him, the giant instead gazed at one of the flying birds high in the air.

His eyes instantly locked onto a slender figure whose face was covered with a golden veil.

"Retreat!" shouted Martin, and soon after, the others followed his instruction. Despite being unwilling, Sophia still listened to his command.

"Are you okay?" She asked as she appeared beside him.

Martin didn't reply and instead looked at the giant gravely.

'That is not a monster we can face!'

He hesitated on whether they should abort the mission, but after thinking about the princess who just saved his life, he decided to watch the situation unfold for a little while.

He knew how talented his princess was and was clear on how terrifying her powers were. He didn't think she fell short of the giant before them.

Alas, if only he knew that the existence before him was related to the Asura race, maybe his decision would have been different.

"What are you doing?"

His attention was quickly pulled by Sophia's angry shout.

"I am sorry but we cannot leave our ancestral weapon!" Brian's father said as he flew before the spherical formation and refused to retreat. Still, his condition had improved with the help of the wood element mages.

Martin frowned when he saw this. His instincts told him the black scythe in the formation wasn't ordinary.

'Is that what these demons are after?'

He quickly shook his thoughts away. Now that the time spell had been lifted, the giant wasn't the only one they had to look out for.

He could tell two of the still surviving greater demons could even pose a great threat to him, so he didn't dare to let his guard down.

Both sides came to a standstill as they gazed at each other.

Suddenly a glint flashed within the eyes of the giant, and before anyone could react, he magically appeared before the bird carrying the golden-veiled princess and punched out.

At the same time, the corrupted spatial mage teleported in front of the healed Brian. With the latter taken by surprise, he couldn't react when the corrupted mage slashed his hand down, causing a thin spatial blade to fly toward him.

While the speed of the attack appeared slow in his eyes, Brian couldn't move as the surrounding space bore down on him greatly, essentially freezing him in place.

At the same time, the corrupted mage who had summoned the earthen dome also acted.

Massive hands rose from the earth, an evil aura surrounding them.

With a speed that defied their sizes, they closed the distance to the Goldsborn mages and the Enigma family elders floating in the air, before swatting out, as if trying to kill a fly.

All these events happened at the same time, and if it were any other party, they would have been overwhelmed by the situation.

However, the Goldsborn family was no ordinary family.

Before the earthen hands could even complete their swatting motion, they were frozen in mid-air, the surrounding temperature falling to the point that the water vapor in the air was frozen.

At the same time, Martin exploded with killing intent that locked onto the corrupted spatial mage and momentarily stunned him. With a speed that easily shattered the sound barrier, he appeared before the stunned demon, the Sonic waves generated from his movement shattering the frozen massive hands, causing them to turn into countless ice fragments.

Before the corrupted mage could react, a blood-red sword covered in thick, suffocating killing intent, fell towards his head like a guillotine.

Luckily, a stone wall appeared in time to shield him, but something amazing occurred soon after. The earthen wall that could absorb the essence of the earth, boosting its defense to an unimaginable degree, was easily smashed into pieces as the blood-red sword continued in its path, cleaving the corrupted spatial mage in two.

At the same time, countless golden circles appeared around the giant, as the Goldsborn mages tried to freeze him once again.

Alas, the giant used more than twenty percent of his strength this time. With no suspense, the golden circles shattered, and the fist continued unrestricted in its path.

As Rita watched the world-encompassing fist approach her, she quickly deployed her domain. She could see many invisible threads connected to her from all the people on the battlefield, and with a thought from her, she focused on the enemies and absorbed their life essence.

The cleanly cut Corrupted spatial mage and all the other demons present, including the formidable greater demon with earth laws, instantly turned into husks of flesh as their vitality was absorbed.

BOOOOOM!

A resounding explosion shook the heavens as mighty shockwaves

 blasted the surroundings into oblivion.

The surrounding space shattered, turning the place into an endless void.

The mountains in the distance were crushed into pieces and the earth rumbled as if the world was about to collapse.

Suddenly, some kind of energy moved from all over the world before congregating at the battlefield, and soon after, the shattered space was healed. Still, the entire process took minutes, showing the alarming damage done to the surroundings.

Once the situation cleared up, only one massive figure remained on the battlefield. However, the grave look on the face of the giant showed that he wasn't pleased with the result of his attack.

He suddenly shifted his eyes in a direction in time to see Martin, Sophia, the Goldsborn mages, Brian and his father appear once again, their bodies intact.

Before all of them stood a girl in a golden dress, the matching eyes hidden behind the veil glowing with a mesmerizing light.

"Princess..." Martin sighed in relief.

That previous attack from the giant had turned the entire group into dust; fortunately, their princess was still able to salvage the situation.

However, the faces of the entire group were still pale, as the horror of having died without a corpse overwhelmed them.

With this situation, the giant could tell that while this young girl could not match him in power, he also couldn't do anything to her. She seemed to possess a heaven-defying ability that allowed her to ignore death.

Normally, he would have put the mission his Lord gave him foremost, but this time, his pride wouldn't allow him.

He was a noble being...

He was from the only race closest to the legendary gods. And if it wasn't for that wench's conspiracies thousands of years ago, the giant race would remain the sole ruler of the entire dark galaxy.

How could he, one of the few survivors of the most powerful race not be able to kill a measly human?

'Fifty percent!' He decided to use half his strength. He didn't care any longer if this world would be able to contain his power. The only reason he didn't act openly with his almost unmatched power was that there was a figure in this world that even he feared. And the funny thing was she was a human. The Queen of the Goldsborn family.

'Wait...' Something suddenly clicked in his mind.

And for the first time since the giant appeared, he opened his mouth.

"Are you related to Sylvia?"

Martin, Brian, and the others felt their ears ring and their brain shake when they heard the giant's voice. While he didn't appear to be shouting, his voice still boomed in the surroundings, and shook their heads to the point that their minds blanked out.

Only one person remained unaffected.

Rita gazed at the giant before her seriously, as she could not lower her concentration for even a moment. As for the giant asking about her mother, she ignored the question, as she had no intention of interacting with a demon, even if it was a fabled giant.

Her hatred for corrupted demons was deeply rooted within her, and she couldn't wait for the day she would end their Lord's life with her own hands.

Seeing that the human girl ignored him, the giant felt his pride further wounded.

Ssssssik!

Red smoke emanated from his body as an aura of destruction spread out into the surroundings, causing the sky to go still.

The visual impact of a figure more than fifty meters in height releasing smoke from his well-toned body shook the minds of Martin and the others. Many of them almost knelt to plead for mercy, as the fear of death overwhelmed them.

As silence pervaded the entire world, as if in prelude to something calamitous, the giant's expression suddenly distorted as he turned towards the direction of the floating spherical formation.

"YOU DARE?!"

The entire Goldsborn's world rumbled from his bellow.

At the receiving end of his scream was a young teen with silver hair who appeared out of nowhere before the floating scythe.

With a wave of his hand, he tried to collect the artifact into his ring, only to fail. It must be known that his ring was a heaven-tier artifact with a small world inside it. Its divine ability even allowed it to contain a living being without any problem, yet such a formidable artifact couldn't shake the floating scythe before him in the slightest.

Left with no choice, he sent the floating sphere into his pocket space, before turning towards the far away giant.

His silver eyes contracted for a moment when he felt the hidden strength contained within that massive body, but despite the feeling of dread he felt, his voice still appeared calm as it spread in every direction.

"There is nothing I do not dare to do."
