CHAPTER 195: THREE ABOMINATIONS

AN: I am sorry I didn't publish any chapter for almost an entire week. I have been sick and bedridden these past couple of days, and it wasn't until recently that I could continue writing. I promise if such a thing is to happen again, I will at least drop a notice beforehand. Sorry once again for my absence.

Immediately after stepping into the spatial crack, Scarlett felt like she was floating in the endless void. However, just as her mind registered the feeling, she felt solid ground beneath her.

She didn't need to look around her to know her surroundings. Still, she opened her eyes, but the first thing she looked at was the dark sky. There was no sun, no moon, and no star. With no source of illumination, the sky was pitch darkness.

It didn't take Scarlett a second to realize where she was.

'A dead planet?'

A trace of surprise flashed through her eyes. She had thought the Void Emperor had already taken care of every dead world since the last great war. So how was it that she was in one?

'Unless...' A feeling of anguish gripped her heart, but she quickly shook the emotion away.

Cracks filled the ground below her, as a feeling of desolateness pervaded the area. She could feel how the world was devoid of life, an inherent quality of a dead world. And since she knew that every known one had been destroyed, the only explanation was that this dead world was once a vibrant world, like hers. However, it had been corrupted, its world consciousness destroyed, and every sign of life wiped away.

She didn't know how that was possible, especially since she knew that the void Emperor had surrounded countless worlds with spatial barriers just like the Lunar World.

Yet it seemed even with all the contingencies put in place, the forces of corruption could not be impeded.

All these thoughts went through her mind in just a moment.

"I'm sorry, sister..." A soft beautiful voice pulled her out of her thoughts.

Raising her head slightly, Scarlett saw the person she had chased after and crossed many light-years for. Rebecca stood in the sky, her short but slender figure radiating with might. Despite being surrounded by countless dark figures, her small figure stood out like a moon surrounded by innumerable stars.

Instead of answering her directly, Scarlett sent her voice directly into her mind:

"What is going on?"

"Let me show you..."

Rebecca brought her most recent memory to mind for her sister to see, and as the event of how she was sent into this dead world became known to her, a cold light flashed within Scarlett's eyes.

'So, it was that boy!'

She wasn't sure if her last-ditch attack had killed Emperor Razors but now she was determined to skill both father and son once she returned to her world.

"Old bitch!"

A deep voice called her attention. A fierce glint flashed within Scarlett's eyes as she finally surveyed the crowd, no...the army that surrounded her. Countless figures filled the skies and the ground, looking like a dark tide that covered the earth.

Her spiritual energy burst out from her body and in but three breaths covered the surrounding 100 kilometers, and yet she still couldn't see the end of the dark tide. She estimated that the figures surrounding her were well past a billion, and even had a feeling that the number might be several times that.

Still, her spiritual energy quickly focused on the three figures within the encroaching darkness, and what she saw finally made her cold yet indifferent expression break, even if it was only for a moment.

Abominations!

The guardians of the Lord of Corruption!

Scarlett didn't know which type of demon Emperor Razor was, but she could tell he was a new kind, one unknown to the world.

Still, three kinds of followers of the Lord of corruption were known to the public, especially after the last great war.

The lesser demons- beasts whose senses had been stripped off and were no different from mindless weapons. Their only desire was to taint any pure source of life around them and bring worlds and the universe as a whole into endless ruin.

The greater demons-the true menace among the followers of the Evil Lord. Indistinguishable from normal humans, they secretly mingle with people and actively corrupt those they deem important. The only way to source them out is to force them to use their mana.

And last but not the least, the recent followers who appeared in the last great war.

The Abominations-the guardians of the Lord of corruption. Each represented a unique emotion of the Evil Lord, and each wielded unfathomable power no less than their lord. They were the main reason why the Lord of Corruption had survived the onslaught of countless worlds and many mighty powers in the last great war.

And among those small but mighty guardians, were three who stood within the army that surrounded her. The worst of it all was that Scarlett recognized one of them who was known to be one of the strongest among the abominations.

"Pride!" Scarlett's voice which sounded like a whisper was carried by the winds into the distance toward the target.

A huge grotesque figure about three hundred meters high who resembled an amalgamation of countless corpses flashed an evil grin when it heard its name.

"You remember me? What a pleasure!"

Scarlett took a step forward causing the numerousfigures that surrounded her to flinch. However, she remained uncaring as her tall figure appeared beside Rebecca, her ruby eyes glowing in the surrounding darkness as they fixed on the titan in the distance.

"How are you here? Is your pathetic Lord with you?" She threw out two questions at the same time.

Hearing her call their Lord pathetic, the dark tide which had remained still suddenly stirred, as a wave of evil aura erupted from them before shooting into the sky.

"My my! You are still as fearless as I remember. Don't you fear your life will end today?"

Genuinely surprised by the reply, Scarlett raised an eyebrow before studying the army who glared at her with red eyes, as if they wanted to drink her blood and suck her bones. Her gaze rested on the two other mountainous figures just a bit smaller than Pride in the distance before finally returning to Pride.

"With just you?"

Hearing the arrogance in her voice, Pride burst into laughter, his voice causing the surrounding foul air to rumble.

"Hahahahahaha!"

"With just me? Hahahahaha!"

"Sorrow, Doubt, did you hear what she said?" Pride kept laughing even as he spoke but it seemed the two other abominations didn't share in his humor, as one merely snorted while the other remained silent.

After a while, Pride's laughter slowly died down.

"You know..." he trailed off as he brought his mountain-like hand down to his side before lifting an object that had been resting there, "Not only are we-am I going to kill you, but I am also going to kill that wretched werewolf beside you. And then I will offer both of your corpses to my Lord to turn into his new minions." Resting the enormous axe on his shoulder, Pride continued, "While me alone might not be able to accomplish it, which hits my pride so badly, I don't believe thirty billion corrupted together with Sorrow and Doubt will not be enough. After all, this is all we have to offer after almost an entire decade of preparation."

Scarlett's eyes instantly narrowed when she heard the shocking number of thirty billion. It seemed she had not been wrong in her estimate and had even wildly understated it. It also confirmed one of her suspicions.

'This dead planet was once a world. And the majority of these people were its inhabitants.' Despite dividing her mind to listen to the Abomination and think at the same time, Scarlett was also able to not only pay careful attention to the terrifying army surrounding her but was also secretly conversing with Rebecca using her spiritual sense.

"Besides..." Pride continued, "I left a gift for you in your home world." Finally eliciting a great change from Scarlett's expression, Pride laughed out in satisfaction.

"Is wasting time like this not giving them a chance to plan? This would just lower our chances of successfully killing them." Another deep voice, not lacking in the slightest in power suddenly cut Pride's laughter short.

"You are no fun, Doubt!" Despite saying that, Pride pointed his axe in Scarlett's direction and then commanded.

"Attack!"

The still and silent army finally moved.

At the same time, Scarlett's voice continued to resound in Rebecca's mind.

'So, the plan is to escape?'

'Yes, sister. And the sooner the better. We don't know what our people are facing right now, but we have to assume the worst situation.'

'Okay then, let us deal with the small riff raffs.'

'Just my thoughts exactly.'

.....

A massive cloud of sinister evil energy billowed against the two slender figures, one tall and one short from every direction, yet both figures remained impassive and without any fear in their charge.

Rebecca raised her hand lightly, and in response, the dark clouds above her suddenly churned, before purple lightning started crackling intermittently within them.

Illuminated by the new source of light, the approaching enemies truly resembled a dark surge that was trying to swarm and swallow them. However, before the first person could even approach them, Rebecca brought her raised hand down.

"Fall!"

With Rebecca as the center, purple lightning as thick as an adult thigh fell continuously from the sky in the surrounding hundreds of kilometers, incinerating all the armies who tried to struggle against them in an instant, and causing a huge clearing to form at the vanguard of the approaching enemies.

"How sad! Hundreds of millions of corrupted just died like that." The only Abomination who had yet to speak suddenly voiced out.

"Hahaha! It's not as if they were alive, Sorrow." Pride bellowed out in laughter, as he remained unaffected by the grand display of power from the enemies he was trying to kill.

'Sister...' Rebecca said in her mind.

'I know.' A cold voice responded to her.

Looking at the still innumerable enemies that surrounded them, Scarlett's ruby eyes shone with a cold light, as her spiritual energy burst out from her body like an endless sea before swallowing all the enemies in her sight, including the abominations.

Her red luscious lips parted slightly for her cold voice to spread out:

"Attack!"

In response, the laughing Pride and the still Sorrow and Doubt finally had a grave change in expression when they felt control of their minds actively being wrung off from their grasp.

However, while they were still struggling to fight against the terrifying soul attack, they saw how their armies of tens of billions seemed to lose all minds and start attacking each other.

As a look of displeasure started surfacing on Pride's face, Scarlett's cold but arrogant voice suddenly drifted into his ears.

"How dare you act so arrogantly before me with such a measly army?!"
